Chapter 53

Cory was dead.

Until Ragnar landed on the floor and shifted back to his human form, he still couldn’t believe that his younger brother had just died to protect him.

He stood on that messy floor motionlessly, trying hard to persuade himself to believe what had just happened, and then slowly, and hesitantly, he walked back to that crushed table with countless pieces of broken glass under his bare feet.

That golden arrow dug out a hole in the window when it ran through that heavy silver barrier.

Under that sole beam of warm morning sunlight, Ragnar saw his younger brother lying there on that pile of junk na/kedly, and lonely, with his eye wide open.

The holes on both sides of his head were still dripping blood and there were so many bruises and cuts on his body. His left eye now was a complete blood hole, and … he was just … dead, not breathing, cold and motionless.

Ragnar would have cried if he hadn’t run out of tears when he lost his human family three years ago.
