Phew!!! Soo crazy! I hope everyone is loving the story so far I would love to hear from you! Thank you for your support!
It didn’t take long for Archie and Albwin to clear out and mess up the tracks. Albwin even added some masking spray to some areas to hide that they had already been there, to add to the confusion. They were only there for twenty minutes at most even though it felt like a lifetime before they were on their way again. Callum was a lot more talkative than his twin and he asked Torin about the Fae Realm and how he liked being in the human realm. They made easy conversation and Torin knew Callum was trying to help distract him, which he was thankful for. Callum told him the ruins were four hours for a wolf so that meant it could take them eight to ten hours at their current speed. He was glad they were moving at a quick jog through the forest this time, only stopping occasionally to check a mark Albwin would point out through the speech spell. They travelled easily for four hours before they agreed to take a short stop for water and regroup. Archie caught up to them and Albwin came back. A
They had alternated between trot, walk, and canter through the forest until they came out onto what looked to be an old road, where they continued at a steady pace. Her butt was sore by the time they reached their destination. Sitting side saddle was not comfortable let alone trying to stay as far from Quinten as possible while sitting on his lap—on a horse. Most of the ride was a one-sided conversation. Lord Quinten finally introduced himself saying she should know his name now that they were to wed. The thought made her want to throw up. She started out constantly squirming hoping he would slip up and she could slide off the horse and run. Artemis wasn’t strong enough to shift, but she couldn't help but try to escape anyways. She couldn't just lie down and submit, it’s not who she is. She did stop though after Quinten threatened to bite her just to subdue her. He chuckled when she stopped immediately. “Too bad I was hoping you would keep struggling for me.” He had told her as he re
Quiten winked and walked toward the door, he stopped in the doorway and turned to her once more as if he had forgotten to say something, “I expect you to be dressed and ready for our meal in one hour, Liam will escort you to the private dining room.” And with that, he walked out slamming the door behind him, a soft click was heard as he locked it once more. Ember sat on the ground and put her head in her hands trying to calm the storm of emotions. Deep breaths, calming slow deep breaths. Let’s look around to see if there is anything we can use for our escape, Artemis suggested trying to snap Ember out of her thoughts. Ember nodded and took a few more calming breaths before standing again and taking in the room more carefully. There was a plush lounge chair in the corner beside the curtains with a small table beside it and a lamp, and a small bookshelf lined with books beside that. In the other corner was a dark wooden desk and a comfortable-looking chair in front of it. Ember went to
Quinten’s face was furious as he watched Justin leave, but he quickly recomposed himself as he stood and pulled out the chair beside him.“Please ignore my Second. Apparently, he forgets himself. You look ravishing my Darling, but where are your shoes?” He looked her up and down and stopped at her feet. Ember rolled her eyes and sat down with a huff in the chair pulling it in herself.“Your ladies are a very bad judgement of foot size. That or all your vampires either have huge or tiny feet.” Quinten raised his eyebrow at Liam who shrugged, as sat down again in his seat. “We will fix this issue right away. In the meantime, dinner!” Quinten clapped sharply and two vampires walked in with trays of food, the smells were enough to make Ember’s mouth water. Her stomach let out a loud noise reminding her she’d had very little food in the past couple of days. They set two bowls in front of them first with some sort of soup. Ember took a cautious bite and only tasted a small hint of wolfsba
Torin almost lost control of his emotions several times as they tracked the horses that had carried his Fated away. They must have been trying to throw off their scent by using horses but thankfully Albwin could track anything. It was just slower than sniffing the air and saying— this way! It didn’t help that the damn vampires kept changing direction causing them to weave back and forth through the forest. It was dark, and there were these tiny biting bugs that plagued them drawing on Torin’s last nerve. Callum at one point laughed and asked if they had midges in the Fae realm. The answer was no and Torin was glad for it. After what felt like hours in the dark tracking back and forth all over the forest Callum called them all in. They had travelled in the same formation they had from the waterfall with Albwin in the lead guiding them through the speech spell as he tracked their quarry, while Archie watched their tracks behind them. This time they wanted the wolves to eventually reac
“Well hello, Luna.” Albwin was engulfed in a hug and pulled inside the room quickly. Ember glanced outside and pulled the curtains shut most of the way.“You shouldn’t be here!” She whispered as her eyes darted to the door leading into the castle. “Where’s Torin?” Albwin rolled his eyes. -Luna? Did I just hear you say— Hello, Luna?— Did you find Ember, is she okay? Is she hurt?- Torin’s voice sounded off inside Albwin’s ear. That was one of the flaws of the speech spell. You couldn’t pick and choose what the other person hears when you speak, and Torin talked a lot. “Torin is ok Luna, he’s with the Gamma Twi—” Ember held her finger to her mouth and pointed to the door, indicating someone was on the other side. He nodded and leaned in closer whispering next to her ear. “They are just out of range of the vampires on patrol. What’s going on here, why are they so heavily armed, are they expecting the wolves? — Yes Torin I found her she seems to be in decent shape.” Ember gave him a weir
Ember was following Albwin through the forest talking with Artemis about how they were going to save the supers when the wind shifted. She stopped in her tracks lifting her nose to the air and letting the most amazing and comforting scent wash over her. Mate—Torin. Ember and Artemis both thought together and before she even realized it, her feet were moving again launching her towards the one person in the world she needed to see right that minute. She burst into a small clearing surrounded by bushes and saw him, the moon's glow illuminating his soft features. His head shot up and turned towards her their eyes meeting seconds before she threw herself in his arms knocking him over. “Ember…” Torin’s voice came out as a cracked whisper, that one word was filled with so much emotion she felt something click into place deep inside of her. Torin sat up pulling her onto his lap as she shifted so her knee’s where on either side of him straddling him, their eyes met once again, Torin smiled
“Shit, you guys run. If I stay with Lettie I can try to talk down the warriors—reveal the truth.” Ember looked at the others, she didn’t want them hurt because of her. This was turning into a bigger mess than she ever imagined. “No, we won't leave you, Luna.” Archie growled out first, followed closely by the others.“I second that.” Callum raised an eyebrow as if to say how could she think it, as Albwin just crossed his arms. Torin didn’t even shift a muscle still standing strong with his arm holding her close. “Love, we won't leave you to face this alone. Perhaps Lettie can link the pack though, telling them to wait and listen?” Torin suggested. Lettie gasped and looked like she was about to face-palm herself as her eyes glazed slightly. After a moment she focused back on them again. “I don’t know how many listened. Caleb tried to cut me off, but I am sure I piqued some interest.” Lettie sighed as she turned and bowed in front of Ember and Torin as well. “I’ll stand with you, my L
