CHAPTER 40

Serene

Going to welcome Diego would be the biggest mistake I could make; why on earth would I want him to know who I am so easily? I am not sure what Rina told them about my reason for not coming, but I instructed her to sort it out for herself. I spoke with Neina, and she advised me not to panic. I mean, how could I forget that I have become more powerful and successful than Diego in such a short period? I do not even need to send my son to Australia with his nanny; I have enough resources to protect him and myself, and Diego will never get to meet my child if I want.

Different things were racing through my mind when I received a call from Neina, who verified that Diego had come for his child rather than for business. My heart skipped a beat, but I was not as afraid since I could not afford to lose myself to terror. I am not sure if it was the fear of meeting Diego or falling for him again that haunted me. Given that I had adequate protection, it became evident that the f

CHAPTER 41Diego I am not sure why KATARAYO's major stakeholder is not even interested in signing me to the agreement. I realize that they have done their homework on me, but my past is not intended to influence my future in business. Serene would always be the one to persuade people in situations like this, but now I am stranded again. I even doubt they were busy; they most likely made up an excuse to avoid me. When I arrived home from the motel, I went directly to my room and napped. After a few hours, my door opened, and Grace entered with a plate of food. "Diego, you did not touch anything; is everything okay?" She inquired, her expression troubled."Umm, sure, I am all right, just a bit fatigued.""Okay, how did the meeting go?" She asked."It went bad; KATATARYO's major investor did not want to see me; I am not sure why.""Oh, I see, everything happens for a purpose; now, take your meal and make sure I do not find it when I return for the tray," Grace remarked as she set the f

CHAPTER 42Serene I was going to spend the day at the park with Mia and Miguel, but Rina informed me that we would have a very important meeting at 8 a.m. I am not sure how I will explain this to my son, and even if he understands, I know he would still want me to be there with him. As usual, I awoke the next morning and prepared breakfast. I did not want anything to go missing when they went to the park, so I packed additional food in their backpacks. When I was finished, I hurriedly rushed to take a shower and put on makeup. After Miguel was born, I tried everything I could to be the supermom I would always want to be. Since rare beauty has always been my favorite, I have made it a point to wear it on all occasions since it makes my face appear just as I want it to. I was not sure about wearing a dress, so I grabbed my purple two-piece suit and matching heels. When I glanced at myself in the mirror, everything seemed beautiful. I curled my hair and quickly made sure my bed was pr

CHAPTER 43Serene “Is he gone?” I murmured under the bartender's desk."Yes, Mr. Myers has left," she answered.I instantly snatched the bartender's black coat and donned it. Fortunately, it was long enough to hide my clothes, and I then requested her to give me her shoes because I did not want heels as they would draw attention. I took her shoes and then put some money into her account before leaving. To my amazement, Diego was on the phone near the exit, while Rina was lovingly smiling at him from the table, although he had his back to her. "I will get you later," I murmured, staring at Rina with anger. Since I was wearing a veil, she did not notice or pay attention to me. I stepped closer to the exit, where Diego was standing. I moved closer, then paused to take a deep breath before stepping passed him.My dread must have gotten the best of me, as I shook his shoulder. He instantly turned back to apologize, but I kept my face down and moved quicker this time. "Excuse me, madam,"

CHAPTER 44Diego I just got back home after looking for Serene. I expected Rina's employer to see me, but she did not show up. I was so upset that I could not help but wonder what I had done to deserve so much disappointment. After Rina had departed, I was going to hand over my blazer to the driver when I smelt Serene's perfume on it. I initially thought I was overthinking it, so I asked the driver to smell it as well, and he verified that it was of a lady. I was perplexed since I could not recall ever being with another lady other than Rina. I raced through my thoughts again and remembered the mysterious woman in a black coat; she was the only one who approached my shoulder. Could she possibly be Serene?I immediately requested that the hotel management show me the CCTV footage, and I could not believe what I was witnessing. The woman was sitting at the table Rina and I took, but she abruptly moved to the bar and was beneath the bartender's desk when I arrived. I watched her go out

"See, I got you," she said softly, biting my ear. Just as she was about to retire to bed, I stood up and moved towards the door. "Where are you going?" she inquired. I turned and showed her the keys before opening the door to go away as she cursed.I can not be the same Diego as before. I need to make a positive adjustment and set a good example for my son so that he does not break his wife as I did. I went downstairs and saw my uncle getting chastised by Grace for allowing Sonia into my room. "Oh, there he is, Diego; how did it go?" my uncle said, assuming I had touched Sonia, but she returned downstairs, blaming me for failing her. "You are such a catastrophe; how dare you leave me hanging like that?" she said, attempting to arrange the garment about herself."What? Are you saying that Diego let you down?” My

My door opened, and Grace stepped in. "Diego, my boy, are you still in bed?" "Yes, I am feeling a little unwell today; could you kindly make me some ginger coffee?" I said."OK, I will be downstairs in a minute," she said, walking out of my room.I got out of bed, gently shut the door, and proceeded to take a shower. When I finished, I stepped out and hurriedly changed before going downstairs. I was drinking my coffee when Sonia stepped in. Seeing her made me wish I had rented a hotel instead. She was returning to make sure I got her into bed or something. "Good morning, honey. I thought you had already left," she said, taking a seat on the sofa across from me."No, do you need anything?" I asked."No, I don't need anything; maybe just a bit of you, Diego. It has been years, and I honestly feared you would

CHAPTER 47Serene It is a lovely afternoon, and I am sitting at the side of the pool, watching Mia and Miguel swim. I truly dislike getting into the pool because the last time I did it was on my honeymoon with Diego. It is not that I did not know how to swim, but everything simply went Diego's way that day; I could recall how the other lady shoved me into the water and Diego moved over to her, knowing I was struggling until some random humanitarian beggar assisted me. "Mommy, are you not coming with us?" Miguel inquired with a charming smile."I am coming, honey," I said, jumping into the water and swimming towards him."Wow, madam, you must have been an excellent swimmer," Mia remarked."Of course, my mother is the finest. I believe my papa is too right, mommy?" Miguel asked.I remained silent for a moment before I smiled at him to agree with what he said. Miguel's days are becoming increasingly difficult as he gets older. Back then, I would advise him not to inquire about his fathe

I know he likes me, and everything would be perfect, but I just need more time. I entered the kitchen and found Rina with a dish of fruits. "Is Cruz gone?" she questioned, peering behind me."Yes, would you like to accompany him?" I asked jokingly."No, I am already hooked on someone; I do not think I like Cruz anymore, but you appear to be concealing something.""Okay, let me know when you figure it out," I responded, opening the refrigerator to grab some juice."Do you feel something for Mr. Cruz? I mean, if that is the case, you guys could already go serious and provide Miguel with a stable family," she remarked, and I turned to give her a serious look.“What did you just say?” I asked her."Come on madam, back then you would claim you were pregnant and staff, bu

Miguel said as he raced toward me.“Careful sweetie," I responded, trying to make sure he didn't slip."I am OK, mommy; do not worry too much; I am strong now," he replied, lifting his small fists to demonstrate muscles that I could only pretend to see."Mommy, are you going to bring my sisters soon?" I had to adapt to the environment without air conditioners or just everything I'm used to. For a moment, I was convinced that this was it, but Max had everything under control; he seemed to know something deeper than what Sandra and I knew because there was no way Diego got us all out just like that without Serene having any clue. Even if they seem powerful and so in love the agony that Serene bitch is about to go through is going to be worse than the first.“Hello partners," Sandra greeted as she took a seat.“You look like you just had a hot bath?" CHAPTER 158 Serene The next day, I awoke in a hospital bed, knowing that the worst news was waiting for me. I stood up and looked at Charlotte and Neina, who were nervously looking at each other. "Did I lose the babies?" I asked my ears, knowing fully well that they were unprepared for the answer. "No, you didn't. The children are fine, but we are not sure if you will want to attend Diego's funeral," Charlotte said. "I am fine, I will go," I said, but I could tell they were both concerned that I would not be able to handle the pain. We arrived home, and I was able to change. I was sitting on my couch, trying to remember all the times he managed to create memories with me, and tears welled up in my eyes. I remembered how I hugged him from behind when Miguel was kidnapped. "Tell me you do not want to see me again, and I will leave forever," his words echoed in my mind. “I don't," I recalled saying before running to give him that hug. Why did you leave me so soon? I

I asked the woman, who appeared to be smiling at me. “Miguel? I don't know who that is but I —" "What do you mean, you have no idea who my son is? Where is Miguel?" I cut her off, attempting to sit up straight at the prospect of possibly losing my son. "Oh, your son," the woman said with a smile, and my heart rate finally slowed. “Where is he?" I heard Max ask the guard."Yes, everything is fine, Mr. Cruz; you can sleep," I said, attempting to appear calm."OK, thank you for letting me stay," he said, and I just smiled as I went into my room to grab my coat before returning to Miguel's room. After what I just heard, there was no way I was going to leave my baby alone all night. My thoughts were scattered, and I was having trouble reaching Diego. I was sure he was drunk by now.“What happened?" Neina inquired about why I had decided to have us sleep in Miguel's room.I cou
