Leilani
Mason said he was fine to take me to work, but he definitely didn’t look fine. I wasn’t in the mood to argue though, so he slapped a few bandages on the cut and we headed out. At least he wasn’t actively bleeding anymore.
Work crawled along like usual, especially considering it was a late shift. I hated doing the dinner rush and then getting some of the drunk idiots that came in late. I got off at one in the morning, and poor Mason was stuck sitting in a booth for eight hours doing absolutely nothing.
Not that he complained. He ate dinner, and then he ate a second dinner a few hours later. I tried not to stare at him too much or spend too much time at his table, but it was hard. The anger had long since faded, and that anger was replaced with this gnawing need.
Not to mention guilt. I hadn’t told him about the wedding getting moved up yet, because I was afraid of how he’d react.
I didn’t want to hurt him. Actually, I didn’t know if I could hurt him. Sure, we were fucking, and he said things that made me think it was more than just that, but I didn’t really know what he wanted. Maybe he was just using me for sex for a while, until I was finally married and not in his charge anymore.
Maybe I was overthinking this by a mile.
But I couldn’t help it. Mason didn’t exactly make any of this easy for me. He was a hard man and impossible to read, and I had no clue what he wanted.
And forget about what I wanted. Was he just a hard cock that made me feel good? I’d thought that at first, but the more I was around him, the more I realized it was much more than sex between us. We had something in common, were kindred spirits in a way.
It was all so messed up. As my shift wore on and the night got longer and later, I resolved to tell him. I was going to tell him as soon as it was over.
The clock hit midnight. I took a few orders, waited on a few tables, and suddenly it was one in the morning.
My feet ached as I gathered my stuff up. Mason was absently playing with a stack of saltshakers as I walked over to him.
“You all done?” he asked without looking up.
“Yeah, all done.” I sat down in the booth across from him. “But hold on. I want to talk before we go.”
“Talk away, princess.”
I took a deep breath. “Phoenix called me before we left my apartment earlier. They’re moving the wedding up. It’s two days from now.”
His face didn’t react. “Okay,” he said.
I was a little taken aback. I had expected a bunch of different reactions from him, but ambivalence wasn’t one of them.
“Um, okay, yeah. Just thought you should know.”
“Thanks, princess.” He slid out of the booth. “Where to now?”
I stood up, confused and a little hurt. “Back to the clubhouse,” I said. “I need to talk with Phoenix.”
“Got it.” He headed out to the parking lot.
I followed him slowly, not sure what that was all about. I didn’t need him to break down and beg me not to marry him or something crazy like that, and besides, Mason wasn’t that kind of man. But I thought he might be surprised or angry at least. Instead, I got nothing.
Maybe it was better this way. Maybe it was for the best if Mason didn’t care either way. I followed him out into the deserted parking lot, and we made our way over toward his bike.
I suddenly got a strange feeling. There was a large black van parked two spaces over from Mason’s bike. The lot was empty otherwise, and the streetlight seemed to be out.
“Mason,” I said.
Two men burst out from the van suddenly, coming at Mason.
I couldn’t believe how fast he reacted. The first man came at him with a knife, and he quickly dropped backward as the second man went around them both, heading right for me.
Mason stepped around the knife attacker and tackled the man heading toward me. I heard a struggle and saw Mason covered in blood. I dropped back, ready to run, but I couldn’t leave him there. The two men rolled again and someone grunted. Mason rolled away from the man, and I saw a knife sticking out of the man’s chest.
The knife attacker was heading toward me then. I didn’t see any vest or patch on his body, but his eyes were crazy. He was short and hairy, and he had this wicked grin on his face.
“Come here, girly,” he said. “I won’t hurt you.”
I couldn’t see Mason. I had no clue if he had been stabbed too or what had happened. I couldn’t think, so I simply turned and started to run as fast as I could.
But the man caught me. I felt him grab me from behind and lift me up. I tried to punch him and landed a blow to his nose, but that only made him curse and hold me tighter.
“Don’t fucking fight, you stupid bitch,” he said. “I’ll cut your pretty fucking face if you hit me again.”
“Help!” I screamed. “Rape! Help!”
“Fuck cunt,” he said.
And then he gagged and dropped me. I fell to the ground and looked up.
Mason had him in a chokehold from behind. The man tried to swing his knife, but Mason grabbed his wrist, twisting it, making the man lose the weapon.
“Leilani,” Mason said, “call the club. Get Noble, Dow, whoever down here right now.”
“Okay,” I said, breathless, and fumbled for my phone.
The man was struggling, but Mason dragged him back toward the van. I called Dad, and he answered on the second ring.
“Hey, sweetie,” he said. “What’s up?”
“Dad,” I said, “send some guys. It’s Mason. We were attacked.”
“Where?”
“The diner.”
“Stay there.” He hung up.
I put my phone away and walked toward Mason. He was struggling with the guy but had managed to throw him to the ground. Mason had his gun out and had it pointed at the man’s head.
“Mason,” I said.
He glanced at me. “I’m okay.”
His head wound was bleeding again, but he looked okay otherwise.
“You’re bleeding,” I said.
He grinned at me through the blood. “I noticed.”
“The guys are coming.”
“Good.”
I glanced back at the other man, lying motionless on his back.
“Is he dead?” I asked.
“Yes,” Mason said. “And you will be too if you make a move or a sound,” he growled at the other man.
The man just smiled at him silently, not moving a muscle.
I took a few steps back, my head spinning. Another corpse. Another dead body because of me. Mason had saved me again, and this time in a much harder, more violent way. He had stabbed a man to death, plunged a knife into his heart.
All because of me. Everything was because of me.
LeilaniI felt dizzy, so I quickly leaned up against the bike, taking deep, gulping breaths.“You’re safe,” Mason said to me. “You’re safe. Just breathe. Breathe, Leilani.”I listened to his voice, keeping myself calm, breathing deeply, breathing deeply.“Who are you?” Mason asked the man.“Now I can make a noise?”“Be a smartass and I’ll waste you.”“Fine,” the man said. “I’m surprised you don’t recognize me.”“Why the fuck would I?”“You kicked me in the face earlier today.”I stared at the man as it really sank in. “You’re a Rebel?” I asked him.“Bingo.” He flashed a grin that was missing a few teeth.Mason bashed him in the head with his gun. The man fell back but wasn’t knocked out. He groaned.“You fucking cunt. Don’t look at her,” he said.“You don’t get it,” the man said. “You really don’t get it.”“Explain it to me then,” Mason said, pressing the gun against his skull.“It’s all over. Everything is over.”Mason started saying something, but it was drowned out by the sound of
MasonAfter my fucking face got stitched up, Dow came back with a truck. We helped pile the dead body into it, and he headed out to dump the thing out in the desert where it would never be found.Meanwhile, Noble shoved the Rebel into the back of their van. He got into the driver’s seat and rolled down the window. “Meet me at the club,” he said. “I’ll send some guys back for my bike.”“Got it.” He pulled out and I got onto my own bike, kicking it to life.My fucking face was aching, but I was too angry to feel it. This whole thing had gotten fucked faster than I could have imagined, and yet Leilani still thought she was really going through with this marriage.Truth was, after this little fucking stunt, that marriage was done. I didn’t know what Phoenix was thinking, but a direct attempt on his daughter’s life by the club he was trying to patch over basically meant the deal had to be off.But we still had questions, lots of fucking questions. Fortunately for us, we had someone to ask.
MasonWe followed Phoenix back down the hall and into the weapons locker. It was a pretty big room, about the size of a one-car garage. It was soundproof and full of weapons hanging on the walls in racks, plus ammunition and bulletproof vests.Noble was leaning against a rack, absently picking at his nails. The Rebel was awake and looking around, clearly a bit groggy.I shut the door and locked it.“Well, Leeroy,” Phoenix said, “you’ve made a fucking mess.”“Where am I?” he asked, slurring his words.“You’re in a locked, soundproof room,” Phoenix said, “surrounded by men who want to do you harm.”He slowly seemed to wake up a bit, looking around. “Ah, shit,” he said.“That’s right,” Phoenix said. “Shit.”“What do you want from me? Just fuckin’ kill me if you’re gonna.”“We want answers first,” I said, stepping toward him. “You can save yourself a lot of pain if you tell us what we want to know.”“Why bother?” he asked. “You’ll just kill me anyway.”“Maybe, but we might let you live if
LeilaniI stared at myself in the mirror, the veil pushed up over my hair, and couldn’t help but laugh. My wedding day. I never really thought this day would come, despite everything we’d gone through to get here. I wanted it to happen if at least to help save the club that had raised and protected me.“You look amazing,” Caralee said. “Seriously. If I were a guy, I’d have such a big boner right now.”I looked at her and laughed. “A big boner?”“Yeah, you know, a stiffy.”I shook my head. “Hard cock, Caralee.”“Whatever. You make me hard.”I laughed again and looked back in the mirror. “Yeah. I clean up okay.”“Okay? Shit. Better than okay.”I had to admit that I did look pretty damn good in my dress. All white with small black accents, it was the perfect biker wedding dress. It was tight along the top, making my boobs look enormous and amazing, and spread out loosely in ribbons of tulle and satin bows.“You look way better than I did on my wedding day,” Caralee said.“Well that’s not
LeilaniI thought time was supposed to drag when you were nervous. But when Mason knocked on the door again, it felt like he had just stepped out of the room.He opened the door. “Ready?”“Ready,” Caralee said.He looked at me. “I’ll be with you.”“I know.”I walked forward, taking a deep breath, and stepped out the door, Caralee in tow.“Caralee, you go first with Burke. Phoenix will walk Leilani down the aisle.” Caralee nodded. We moved down the back hallway and stopped near Phoenix’s office door. It was open, and inside were Burke and Phoenix, both looking uncomfortable in their suits.“Hello, boys,” I said, stepping inside.“Wow,” Phoenix said. “Honey, you look beautiful.”“Thanks, Dad.” He took my hand and squeezed it, smiling.Caralee stood next to Burke. They just nodded to each other without speaking. Burke had been in a bad mood all day long, probably because his plan had fallen apart. At least his plan to kill me and take over the club. The wedding was probably never meant t
MasonAll eyes were on Leilani and Phoenix as he walked her down the aisle, which was exactly what we wanted. My heart was beating slowly in my chest as I snuck out of Phoenix’s office, heading to my right. I moved along the outskirts of the room, going wide around the Rebels, getting into position. For the past few days, we’d been planning for this. Everything we’d done had led to this moment, and the gamble we were about to make could go horribly wrong, but we were hoping the men in this room were smarter than we had given them credit for so far.I saw a few other men moving along the outskirts just like me, dressed in suits so as not to draw attention, but they had the same aim I did. I caught Dow’s eye, and he made some inane comment that got a laugh, but it was actually a code for Ford to keep his bullshit going a bit longer to let us get into position. Finally, I was back where I needed to be, and I nodded at Dow again. Noble made another stupid joke, which was the sign for Ford
MasonI grabbed a bottle and poured myself a whisky. Before I could drink it, someone walked up beside me.“Got one of those for me?”I grinned and turned. Leilani was standing there, smiling at me, still wearing that fucking sexy wedding dress.“Sure, princess,” I said, pouring her a drink. “You deserve it.”“I saw what happened,” she said softly. “I’m glad he’s dead.”“Worked out,” I said.“Think the Rebels will really join us?”“Some will. Some won’t. We’ll work it out. But the important thing is, it’s over.”“To Jetter, may he rot in fucking hell,” she said. We clinked glasses and drank. She put her glass down on the bar and stepped toward me. “Mason, listen—” she started to say, but I stopped her. I grabbed her by the hips and pressed her against me, kissing the girl hard on the mouth. She kissed me back without hesitation.Fuck, nothing ever tasted sweeter in my whole life. Not whisky, nothing. LeilaniFourteen months laterI laughed, fumbling in the dark for his belt.“Fuck I’m starving,” Mason said, pushing me back. “Forget that. I want this sweet pussy.”“Shh,” I said. “You’ll wake Ryan up.”“I think you’re the one who needs to work on being quiet.” He pushed me back onto the bed, and I landed, giggling, as he pulled down my panties, tossing them aside. His lips found my neck, kissing me softly, his hands between my legs, working my soaked clit. “I think about this all fucking day long,” he said in my ear.“Me too,” I whispered. His lips moved down my neck and down my breasts.
