Lunaria’s POV.

While the meeting went on, I couldn’t even do anything but lay in my seat and stare into space with tears in my eyes.

The meeting was a blur. I was in a room full of elders, with Nathan by my side, and yet I had never felt more alone than I felt at that moment.

My father was dead. The idea of his death sat on my chest like an anvil, threatening to break through me.

All the talk about the throne, the heirloom, who should lead — it may as well have been in another language or about someone else’s life because I wasn’t even paying attention to anything they said or argued about.

How could I think about ruling when I hadn’t even faced his death?

My father. My alpha was gone.

I knew what they were here for was important as soon the wolves would come to take the throne but it still felt like I needed to breathe away from this place.

Voices rose around me — arguing now — but all I heard were his echoes: his laugh, his counsel … he had always had faith in me. Had he somehow kno

But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't shake off the feeling of worry that had been gnawing at me since the meeting.Lunaria was being accused of killing her own father, and it was all because of me. The guilt was suffocating me. I didn't know how to help her, how to prove her innocence."Liam, look! A bird!" I exclaimed, pointing to a nearby tree.Liam's eyes widened, and he took off running towards the tree. I chased after him, laughing, trying to keep up the charade. But as we walked, Liam's questions started again. "Uncle Nathan, why was Mommy crying?"I knelt down beside him, trying to come up with a reasonable explanation. "Sometimes, grown-ups get sad, Liam. It doesn't mean anything is wrong with her. She just needs some time to feel better."Liam looked up at me with big, round eyes. "But why was she sad?"I sighed, feeling helpless. "I don't know, budd

Lunaria's POV.I pulled away from Anthony, apologizing for breaking down in front of him. But he just smiled and said I didn't have to apologize, that I had every right to cry on his shoulders."We always cried on each other's shoulders, didn't we?" he said, his eyes nostalgic and I forced a smile.I nodded, feeling a twinge of sadness. I wished I could remember more of our past, but it was all still a blur.“Should I tell you some more about our childhood to make you feel better?” he asked, his eyes sparkling as he grinned at me.I nodded and sat up to listen to him, wanting to hear anything that would distract me from the pain I had been feeling in my heart since my father passed."Okay. I've got a joke to make you feel better," he said, his voice light and playful as he got ready."Okay, I could use a laugh. Go ahead,” I said, raising an eyebrow, intrigued.Anthony cleared his throat as he said."Why did the scarecrow win an award?". "I don't know, why?"I shook my head, playing a

Lunaria's POV.I stood up, my heart racing as I watched Nathan turn to leave. I felt a pang of fear, unsure of how to explain the situation to him. I hadn't expected him to see that before I told Anthony how I felt about him so I was afraid that Nathan might jump to a conclusion and I feared what might happen to our relationship after now."Anthony, I need to talk to you," I said, turning to face him, angry at him for kissing me."What is it, Lunaria?" Anthony asked, his expression intense.I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. I was angry and wanted to lash at him and say words that would hurt him but then I knew I had to keep it cool. Even though he acted out of character, he was a friend from my childhood. I didn't want our friendship to go sour."Whatever we had in the past, it's just that - in the past. I don't even remember it, Anthony. And even if I did, it wouldn't change the fact that I'm with Nathan now,” I declared boldly looking at him to let him know how ser

Sarah wondered. How did she manage to captivate so many men, including her own brother? When Lunaria stepped out of the room, going in search of Nathan, leaving Anthony behind, Sarah saw her chance and she went inside to meet him. She walked in, a sly smile spreading across her face."Who are you?" Anthony asked, as he took in Sarah's appearance. He hadn't seen her before and didn't know why she came into the room. She wasn't also dressed like a domestic staff or servant.Sarah ignored his question, her eyes taking hold of his as she came to stand before him."I know what you want," she said, her voice low and husky. Nathan's POV.I couldn’t get what I had seen in the room out of my head. She was seated on the ground with that Anthony guy and no matter how it seemed to be, I tried to believe that they were just talking even when other ideas were creeping in.It made me mad to think about but I tried to keep my cool.I still chose to believe that Lunaria’s love for me was real so I kept my calm and decided to not say or do anything rash. She was the love of my life and I would leave it at that. But what about Anthony? Why do I keep getting the feeling that he would want to do something that could potentially break my relationship with Lunaria? There was that nagging feeling at the back of my neck telling me to be careful like I wasn’t already careful. It was just there, telling me all I needed to know and I was ready to listen. With a sigh, I took in deep breaths to keep from falling away in anger. If I acted out rashly as I had earlier thought to do, I would break what I had with Lunaria.Besides,

Lunaria was supposed to be married to me before the ugly incident back then, did she have someone else and was deceiving me? Was she secretly married? It was ridiculous and I found it hard to believe.I turned to lunaria who was as shocked as I was.“Is this true?” I asked her as she didn’t know what to say with her mouth open. Was she shocked that I would appear in the living room?I was tired of staying in my room and I was getting anxious as to why their meeting was taking too long so I had shown up just to hear this.I had shown up to push Anthony out with brute force if that was needed. Author’s POV. Lunaria's hands trembled as Mendy helped her into the wedding attire and packed her hair in a bun. Just as Mendy stepped back to admire her handiwork, a soft knock at the door interrupted the moment. Mendy smiled and moved to answer it, she opened the door to find a young servant holding a small elegant envelope. "For the bride," the servant said, bowing slightly. “Thank you.” Came Mendy’s voice as she closed the door and walked over to Lunaria to hand her the envelope. Lunaria's heart skipped a beat as she took the envelope, her fingers tracing the seal. She recognized the symbol – Nathan's family crest. A gentle smile spread across her face as she opened the envelope and withdrew the letter inside. The poem, written in Nathan's own hand, spoke of his love for Lunaria, of the journey they had shared, and of the promises he made to her. It spoke of the moon goddess's blessing, of the love that had grown between them, and of the future they would build together. T

I repeated my request, but she didn't move.Slowly, she raised her head, her eyes filled with tears."I...I can't bear working under you as a slave," she said, her voice trembling.I was taken aback by her words. I hadn't thought about how she would feel, being forced to serve me after everything that had happened."Lillian, I..." I started to say, but she cut me off."I would rather not be alive at all than be a slave," she said, her voice firm. And with that, she grabbed a sharp object from the nearest shoulder and pierced herself.I screamed, shocked by her action. Mendy rushed to her side, trying to stop the bleeding."L

Author’s POV.After everyone had disappeared for the day, leaving me, the elders, my stepmother, and my sister. They marched onto the throne room to confront me but I stood tall, my voice firm as I addressed Agatha.“Was it Sarah that gave you the Heirloom?” Agatha asked me."No, Sarah did not betray us, Agatha. Anthony found the real heirloom and exchanged it with the fake one."Nathan's face was still twisted in rage when he walked in and saw Agatha interrogating me, but as I waved at him to indicate that I was okay, I could see the tension in his body begin to ease. I turned to him, placing a calming hand on his arm as he came to stand beside me."Nathan, it's okay. The truth is out now."I turned back to Agatha, my eyes narrowing."Since everything is clear now, I will decide the fate of all the offenders." I moved to the throne, my voice ringing out across the room."According to our law, Agatha, you would be killed for your crimes. And Lillian, you would be reduced to a maid."T

Killing her mother wasn't enough, she had the guts to kill her own husband for her daughter and she was okay with it.Nathan stepped forward, placing a calming hand on Lunaria's shoulder."It's okay, Lunaria. It's going to be alright. I am here for you, it's going to be alright,” Nathan assured.Lunaria took a deep breath, trying to calm down.
