Author’s POV. Sarah paced around in her bedroom in anger. Nathan was beginning to get on her nerves with how close he was getting to that lunaria of a girl. What did she have that Sarah didn’t? Sarah felt like she was hotter and she could give Nathan all he wanted. Why was he going for her? A knock on the door disrupted her thoughts as she turned to see a maid come into the room. “Ma’am, your meal is getting cold and…” This did not end well as Sarah fumed in anger and slammed her hand against the wall. “You stupid girl!” She yelled. “Can you not read the room? Get out of here! This instant. Leave!” The maid bowed before running off as she closed the door. Sarah muttered even more while pacing about in anger. “Where has he gone?” She muttered to herself. She had followed them earlier on but they suddenly changed direction and that had made her lose them. She looked at her watch before looking out of the window hoping Nathan would call her or at least come back. Taking he
Lunaria’s POV. And all the while I thought he was married — I thought as a bright smile appeared on my lips. Not going to lie, I was relieved to find out that he was not married and more still there wasn't a romantic relationship between him and the lady. Thanks to the way she always acted around him, I got swayed and now, not only had I been clarified but the clarification gave me immense joy. “Do I make it seem like I was married?” Nathan asked, eliciting a nod from me. Shrugging, I said, “I was looking forward to meeting with your kids as you were married but… I never get to meet him or maybe her.” I smacked my lips, the excitement still running through my veins. With my lips pressed together into a thin line, I diverted my attention to something else but my focus didn't last long as he placed his hand on the table to get my attention. “Let's go have dinner together.” He suggested. Without thinking twice I accepted his request, feeling like a teenage who was about to fa
Nathan’s POV. When I remember her questioning concerning Sarah, I couldn't help but to let out a low chuckle. She wasn't the first person that had said this, several other people already did but I never got angry with them because Sarah and I had made it seem that way. We were going everywhere together and we were together most of the time when we stepped out, so I don't blame them. “Mom said kids don't eat jelly, is that right?” Liam asked and immediately, I turned to face Lunaria who quickly gave me a sign to take sides with her. “I saw what you did.” He said even before I could part my lips to speak. “Liam…” He tried to wriggle from my arms but I held even more tightly to him. “Are you annoyed?” I asked, still holding onto him. “You and mom are planning to mess with me. I saw the look in her eyes… both of you are planning to deprive me from eating jelly.” He said, still trying to slide down but I didn't give him the chance. “I'm sorry, okay.” I had to apologize to s
Lunaria’s POV.Now the issue wasn't the suddenness of the question, rather, it was the answer which I had been obligated to provide. How was I going to tell him I have no idea who Liam's father is?No doubt, he was going to take me for a joke and just the same way step mom and Lilian always made fun of me, calling me names, he was going to do the same even though he didn't say it to my face. Gulping, I grabbed the hem of my dress as I racked my brain on the perfect answer to give so he wouldn't be misled. “It's fine if you don't want to answer me.” He said and before I could explain the reason why I had reacted that way, attributing it to the suddenness of his question, he said, “I shouldn't be asking about your private life… I'm sorry for being curious.” He muttered. Unsure of what to say in this situation, I began to fiddle with my fingers as I looked on.“I’m truly sorry, please don't be mad at me.” He ratted out. “Please act like I didn't ask you this question even, please.” H
Nathan’s POV.We walked on for a while as I turned to look at her as I caught myself smiling. It was a lovely evening and I wished it wouldn’t stop.“You know,” I said with a smile. “Maybe not all readers are wrong.”“Yeah right,” she scoffed.I looked around and saw the way the place was lit and it was nostalgic in some way.“You know, instead of going on your own to your pack, I could drive you there,” I noted as she nodded.“As much as I appreciate that, I think I’ll just go on my own.”“You sure?” I asked with a confused look on my face.I started to wonder if maybe I had done something bad to her but held back myself. Maybe she wasn’t in the mood for anything right now and pushing her could get her angry.I took in deep breaths and looked away for a while.“I really enjoyed spending the day with you even though it was mostly filled with a lot of things that weren't supposed to happen.”I wondered what she meant by that but shrugged it off.I walked with them to her car as she got
LUNARIA’S POV.While I drove home, I couldn’t help but smile at myself.I had an eventful day with Nathan but it made me blush at how a man could be so…I held myself and looked ahead while avoiding a narrow red tape across the road.‘That represents your relationship,’ my wolf said within me as I took in deep breaths.“If you’re talking about my relationship with Nathan then you should know that we are just friends.”But my wolf appeared by my side as I scoffed. “What? You appeared to cause me pain or what?”“I’m just here to watch you lie to my face.”I rolled my eyes. “Whatever. That’s your problem.”“Look, we don’t know this guy. He might be a crazy lunatic for all we know. You should jump into doing anything or feeling anything with that guy. I would advise you to move on and not look at the guy or something. That’s my two cents on the matter.”But I shook my head. “I know that already. You don’t need to tell me anything.”I slowed down at a red light and looked back to make sure
Lunaria’s POV.I woke up to the sound of Liam’s cheerful voice calling out, “Mama, wake up! I want to see Uncle Nathan!” His small hands shook my shoulder as I groaned and turned away, pretending to sleep a little longer.“Please, Mama! You promised we’d go!” he whined, pulling at the blanket.I peeked at him with one eye and smiled. “Liam, it’s too early for Uncle Nathan. How about later in the day? I promise we’ll go, okay?”His face lit up immediately. “Really?”“Yes, really,” I said, pulling him into a hug. “Now let me rest a little longer.”Before I could lay back down, there was a knock on the door. “My lady, it’s time for breakfast,” one of the maids called out from the other side.At the mention of food, Liam’s excitement bubbled over. He bolted out of my bed and ran toward the door. “Breakfast! Breakfast!” he shouted as he disappeared down the hall.I couldn’t help but laugh, his energy was contagious. But just as quickly as the laughter came, it faded. I sighed deeply, my mo
Lunaria's POV.I took a deep breath and replied, "I went out for some business and I cannot reveal more than that to any of you because it is strictly supposed to be my business,” I declared slightly irritated by their intrusive questions and suspicious stares. Then Lillian huffed before snickering in response. "Oh, I'm sure you were being your loose self as usual," she replied and I felt a surge of anger, but I bit my tongue in order not to say anything in a burst of anger, reminding myself that Liam was present. I didn't want to create a scene in front of my son.Agatha eyed me for a while when I went silent before she chimed in, her voice sweet but condescending. "Lunaria, you never learn, do you? You're so careless, you almost lost your son. You should realize now that being a mother comes with you being precarious about your child’s welfare. I’m sure what you went after isn’t as important as your son’s life is or do you not value him because he doesn’t have a father and you don’
Nathan's POV.Slowly, I was losing my mind. When Mendy brought the news at first, I refused to believe that Lunaria had gone missing in her kingdom. At once, memories came rushing in as it was the same way she had disappeared only for me to find her after six years of intense search.“This doesn't look good a bit,” I muttered, tugging on my hair as I darted my eyes around. Getting missing in her own kingdom was suspicious and I couldn't push it off. Whoever it is that had orchestrated this must be very brave. Abducting the heiress of the Lycan Kingdom was only what someone with two heads could pull off.The King wasn't going to allow this to pass just like that.Shaking these thoughts off my head, I decided to focus on the present and that was Henry, whom she had gone out with the previous day. To others, his tale was believable but not to me as I felt there was more to it. And to make me doubt him even more was the fact that he was nowhere around here. Even though he isn't going
Author’s POV.For a moment, Sarah stood rooted to the spot as she watched the intense discussion between them. At first, she thought they were talking about how to rescue her but when she got to know it was the opposite, her lips parted into a large smile. The duo turned out to be Agatha and Lillian. When the news came to them the previous night, their joy knew no bounds as they were going to get what they had always wanted and that was to throw her out of the palace. While the Lycan King was trying to come up with ways on how to find her, Agatha kept pumping into him that she had gone to be with her lover. This got the King furious but there was nothing he could do about it as he didn't have proof and he even became skeptical about the search. If it turned out that what Agatha was saying was true, the entire Kingdom was going to hear about it and it would be almost impossible for her to take over the throne. With her hands crossed on her chest, Lillian pouted, “Father will have
Author’s POV.When Sarah noticed that the pack was the busiest that day, she became curious, itching to find out what was happening or what had happened. Her curiosity was quenched when the maid told Nathan the situation of things and immediately, her heart began to throb with joy. With her eyes glinting in excitement, she was already on the verge of screaming her lungs out but somehow, she was able to contain it. “No! This can't be happening.” She blurted, grabbing Nathan by his shoulder as she doubled over, a wince escaping her lips. “This can't be happening, Nathan! An event from six years ago… it can't repeat itself.” She ratted out, her eyes pooling with tears. Nathan held her shoulder and slowly, he led her to a quiet area, trying to pacify her and at the same time himself. The news had come to him as a rude awakening and so his thoughts were all over the place. “Calm down, the guards are going to find her.” Nathan had said this to comfort her and comfort himself too. “T
Nathan’s POV.The moment I heard the words “Lunaria is missing,” my world stopped. I stared at Mendy, my mind racing as if it was trying to catch up with what she had just said. Missing? How could she be missing? My chest tightened painfully, and I had to take a deep breath to steady myself.I looked at Mendy, expecting her to clarify, to say something that made this all make sense. “What do you mean she’s missing?” I asked, my voice low but filled with urgency. “What happened? Where did she go?”Mendy hesitated, wringing her hands nervously, but she eventually explained, “Lunaria went out for dinner with Henry last night. After that… she didn’t come back.”The mention of Henry sent another jolt through me. My jaw clenched at the thought of her being out with him. My emotions were a tangled mess of worry, anger, and jealousy. If she was with him, surely he’d know something. Surely he’d be the first person to ask about her.“Did anyone talk to Henry?” I asked sharply, trying to stay ca
Nathan’s POV.I woke up to the sensation of pain pulsating through my hand; it must have been sleeping. I rubbed at it as I sat upright, slowly working out the kinks in my body and finding that my neck was stiff from having slept awkwardly. Blinking twice, I strained to recall why I was there and what had occurred before I had gone to sleep.I was still inside of my office, the desktop scattered with sheets of paper—crinkle-edged or else perfectly flat.Right, I had stayed up pretty late last night researching a cure for the epidemic sweeping through our pack. I guess I must have overdone it because next thing I knew, I’d fallen over and slept.I sighed and dropped to my knees, collecting all of the papers that had fallen and making sure they were straight before stacking them back neatly together. My desk was a mess as normal but I liked everything in place before beginning my day. With a last second thought, I reached for the drawer to put them before my cell phone vibrated against
Lunaria’s POV.I was so livid I could barely see straight. My chest heaved as I remembered glaring across the table at Henry. His expression was calm, almost smug as if he truly believed what he’d just said made sense.“How could you even suggest that, Henry?” I hissed, my voice trembling with disbelief. “You know how much Liam means to me! He’s my son—my world! And you want me to leave him behind? Stay in my father’s palace while I move in with you?”I could still see myself walking away from him as he called for me to wait for him but I didn’t care about him. It was clear he had chosen what he wanted to do. I wasn’t the choice he wanted. “Lunaria, wait!” Henry called, scrambling to stand up, but just then, one of the waiters approached him with the bill. He hesitated, glancing between me and the waiter.I didn’t wait for him to decide. I stormed out of the restaurant without looking back. The cool night air hit my face as I stepped outside, but it did little to calm my racing heart
Nathan's POV.I had picked up my coat to leave when a call came in. I wanted to ignore it, but it was from my manager. So, I had to accept it and turned around to head to my desk to sit down."Good day, Alpha," my manager said over the phone. "I was called to remind you that the project will be needed soon by the review team to help you arrange it well. Are you done so I can put them together after editing?"I sighed as I looked at the wet papers on my desk, a mess courtesy of Sarah's tantrum. I clenched my left fist as her behavior popped into my mind. She was insane, and it was becoming sickening."Okay, it should be ready soon. I'm almost done. Await my call and instructions," I replied after a few seconds of silence, and the call came to an end.My eyes blazed with frustration as I stared at the wet papers scattered across my desk. The wine Sarah had poured on them had ruined hours of work. I couldn't believe her audacity and how better she was getting at it these days. She barely
Author’s POV.Sarah stood in the dimly lit alley, her eyes fixed on the man before her. She had come to do exactly what she needed to do before Lunaria took her place. How could she watch her sway Nathan so much already after what happened? She had tried to separate them before just for them to come back together again and her plan was about to get crushed beyond repair and she won’t allow that. Knowing that Kunaria was her problem she knew she had to remove her in any way possible and this time, there won’t be any mistakes. She handed him a folder containing Lunaria's pictures she had hired someone to take."I want her taken care of, make sure she doesn’t survive anything you have in mind for her. I don’t want to see her ever again and if I do, you will pay for it. Remember I will only give you your balance when you carry out your job properly,” she whispered, her voice dripping with contempt.“I hope you can do the job. I ain’t asking too much, right? If you can’t, I can hide someo
Lunaria's POV.I stood in my room, torn between two desires. A part of me longed to call Henry and cancel our dinner plans, just so I could spend more time with Nathan. But another part of me knew I couldn't keep putting Henry off for the reason I couldn’t tell. I wanted to spend more time with Nathan, I wanted him around, to see his face again and hear him speak. I enjoy how much he cares about every little detail that concerns me like he knew me and I was very precious to him. I couldn’t deny the attraction I was growing towards Nathan, it was like a glimpse of him brings joy to my heart, and having him around seemed like I was being protected and cherished but sadly, I had committed to this dinner with Henry which I couldn’t just all of a sudden. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. It was Mendy, who came to inform me that Henry had arrived and I sighed wishing he would have delayed a little bit longer. I quickly brushed my hair, applied some lip gloss, and headed d
