Author’s POV.“Come on, this can't be happening! I thought I had ended everything… how come…” Sarah muttered, grabbing her head with both hands. With her hands wrapped across her chest, Sarah began to pace from one end of her room to the other, her brow cocked. Since she left the party, she had been this way and feigning not to be affected didn't pull through for her as her thoughts kept going back to the scene. Halting all of a sudden, she swirled around and with her back resting against the wall, she bit her lower lips. “No, this can't be happening.” She muttered, clenching and unclenching her fists as her heart constricted against her chest. “What am I going to do now?” This and many other thoughts kept running in her head, making her grab her forehead. “I have to do something. I can't sit back and allow all of my hard work to go into waste.” She mumbled and then resumed pacing, cracking her head on what she should do. Once again she halted, this time around, with a frustrat
Lunaria’s POV.The warring voices behind me made me increase my speed even though I was weak from running a distance. My death race against the time continued as I ran across the woods, the voices following me everywhere I went. Hiding from them was going to be impossible because of the close proximity between us. “Oh please, come out.” I cried, urging and hoping that my wolf would listen to me and spring forth but it was to no avail. If I was in my wolf form, I believed that I would be able to get away from these people easily but my wolf had deserted me, she refused to cooperate, hence leaving me at their mercy. My determination to survive and get away from my chasers, spurred me to keep running but my pace got reduced. It was like I was floating in the air. Soon, I halted but when the voices became even louder, I tried to resume running and in my haste, I tripped over. “Oh no!” I cried, trying to pull myself up but I was too weak to do so. As expected my chasers caught up
Nathan's POV.Ever since I received a message from the Lycan King, inviting me for a meeting, I had been floating in the air as my excitement knew no bounds. The invitation came in just yesterday and I felt it was already a month now since I received it. Still beaming with excitement, I began to dress up. It wasn't as if I was excited to go meet with the Lycan King, rather, it was Lunaria as I was going to get to see her face again. Ever since the encounter at the party, I had been itching to meet with her and now, the opportunity had presented itself. “I'm going to see her again.” I mumbled as I stared at my appearance in the mirror. “I hope she recognizes me this time around.” I said only for a soft knock to follow suit. Looking over my shoulders, I saw Gideon, my best friend and beta standing next to the door with his hand folded in front of him. “You're excited.” He commented.Nodding with a smile still etched on my lips, I said, “I can't help it.” Walking further into the
Lunaria’s POV.I woke up to the sound of a sharp knock on my door which scared me.“What was that?” I muttered with sleep in my eyes as I got to sit on the bed with groggy eyes.I frowned at the amount of sunlight coming in through the window and groaned. The knock came again sharply this time as I groaned. The knock had me awake this time as I shook my head and tried to speak but my voice was cracked.“Come in!” I yelled with a cracked voice as the door opened with Mendy, my maid, coming in with a smile.“Good morning, my lady,” she said as I waved her off. Why was she chirpy this morning?“You should knock softly next time,” I said, falling back into bed in anger. “You scared me half to death with that loud knock.”“My lady I knocked softly multiple times but it didn’t wake you up.”“So you tried to kill me?”She laughed and shook her head as I closed my eyes.“My lady, the king has summoned you.”I groaned again as that seemed to be the only thing I could keep doing out of how frus
Lunaria’s POV.Suddenly something hit my throat as I started to cough out profusely as if I was about to die as my father called to the maids to get me water.“My lady,” one of the maids said as they gave me the water to drink and I took it up and started to gulp down as I sighed and laid back in my seat.“Are you okay?” He asked, looking at the empty cup as I nodded. How was I even going to react to this without causing a scene? It was looking impossible to handle this in a civilized manner. How did I end up here?Marry? The more I thought about it the more crazy it looked. It was looking like a lot. I had not even thought of this in a very long time. Pairing myself up with anyone at all. I had not thought of it and yet here I was.“Was it the news that made you cough?” He asked as I nodded.“It’s… a lot,” I blurted out as he nodded.I blinked, stunned. “Marry? What do you mean?”He shifted in his seat, his expression firm yet gentle. “There is a man—my friend’s son. He’s a strong a
Nathans POV.The sun was low on the horizon as I approached the Lycan pack house, its golden glow casting long shadows across the gravel driveway. The pack house was still a good distance from where I stood, and by the gods, it was massive and just screamed status and power. But that was not what I cared about. The face I had seen last night was still seared into my memory.Lunaria.She continued to permeate my dreams with her beauty and I wanted her back with me. The glow of her skin was like the sun in the western sky at noon, too intense for human eyes. But there was no mistaking it; it was undoubtedly her face that I saw.I nearly collided with her as I walked blindly around a bend in the narrow hallway.I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face as I saw her face. “Lunaria,” I said, bowing my head in respect. She looked at me, her eyes cautious. For a second I thought I saw something flash in them but it was gone before the moment had passed. She nodded in return.
Nathan’s POV.With my gaze lingered on Sarah, I had an uneasy look on my face. Lunaria sadness made me curious, making me want to find out what exactly the problem was but Sarah didn't give me the chance. Turning around in the opposite direction, I wanted to go meet with the Lycan King only to swirl around and begin to chase after Sarah.Surprised to see me by her side, she craned her neck and after ascertaining that no one was around, she held my shoulder, “What are you doing here?” She whispered. This time around, she spoke through her teeth, “Listen to me, I will speak to Lunaria while you go meet with the Lycan King, you shouldn't keep him waiting.” Taking a deep breath, I pushed my hand into my hair and then began to tug on it. “Run along now, you wouldn't want to keep him waiting.” She coaxed, causing me to nod my head. Reluctantly, I turned around, making my way towards the office of the Lycan King. The moment I stepped in, he stopped what he was doing and then rose to r
Lunaria’s POV.Thanks to the timely intervention of Liam, I didn't get to answer Alpha Nathan’s question. With brisk and hurried footsteps, I hurried towards my room, trying to hold myself back from yelling out my lungs as father's words kept replaying in my head. Several times, I stopped on my track, resting against the wall for a few seconds so I wouldn't trip as my eyes were blinded with tears. Finally, I got to my room and then banged the door shut in fury. Before I took a step forward, the tears which I had managed to hold back started rolling down my cheek in torrents and soon I was sobbing uncontrollably. Resting my back against the wall, I had my legs pulled up to my chin, tightening my grip each second. Why will father make a deal and then I will be the one to pay for it? — I thought, grabbing my head with both hands. “Now I know why he didn't make a fuss about my relationship with Henry.” I muttered, clenching my fists by my side. “And Henry continued being persisten
Nathan's POV.Slowly, I was losing my mind. When Mendy brought the news at first, I refused to believe that Lunaria had gone missing in her kingdom. At once, memories came rushing in as it was the same way she had disappeared only for me to find her after six years of intense search.“This doesn't look good a bit,” I muttered, tugging on my hair as I darted my eyes around. Getting missing in her own kingdom was suspicious and I couldn't push it off. Whoever it is that had orchestrated this must be very brave. Abducting the heiress of the Lycan Kingdom was only what someone with two heads could pull off.The King wasn't going to allow this to pass just like that.Shaking these thoughts off my head, I decided to focus on the present and that was Henry, whom she had gone out with the previous day. To others, his tale was believable but not to me as I felt there was more to it. And to make me doubt him even more was the fact that he was nowhere around here. Even though he isn't going
Author’s POV.For a moment, Sarah stood rooted to the spot as she watched the intense discussion between them. At first, she thought they were talking about how to rescue her but when she got to know it was the opposite, her lips parted into a large smile. The duo turned out to be Agatha and Lillian. When the news came to them the previous night, their joy knew no bounds as they were going to get what they had always wanted and that was to throw her out of the palace. While the Lycan King was trying to come up with ways on how to find her, Agatha kept pumping into him that she had gone to be with her lover. This got the King furious but there was nothing he could do about it as he didn't have proof and he even became skeptical about the search. If it turned out that what Agatha was saying was true, the entire Kingdom was going to hear about it and it would be almost impossible for her to take over the throne. With her hands crossed on her chest, Lillian pouted, “Father will have
Author’s POV.When Sarah noticed that the pack was the busiest that day, she became curious, itching to find out what was happening or what had happened. Her curiosity was quenched when the maid told Nathan the situation of things and immediately, her heart began to throb with joy. With her eyes glinting in excitement, she was already on the verge of screaming her lungs out but somehow, she was able to contain it. “No! This can't be happening.” She blurted, grabbing Nathan by his shoulder as she doubled over, a wince escaping her lips. “This can't be happening, Nathan! An event from six years ago… it can't repeat itself.” She ratted out, her eyes pooling with tears. Nathan held her shoulder and slowly, he led her to a quiet area, trying to pacify her and at the same time himself. The news had come to him as a rude awakening and so his thoughts were all over the place. “Calm down, the guards are going to find her.” Nathan had said this to comfort her and comfort himself too. “T
Nathan’s POV.The moment I heard the words “Lunaria is missing,” my world stopped. I stared at Mendy, my mind racing as if it was trying to catch up with what she had just said. Missing? How could she be missing? My chest tightened painfully, and I had to take a deep breath to steady myself.I looked at Mendy, expecting her to clarify, to say something that made this all make sense. “What do you mean she’s missing?” I asked, my voice low but filled with urgency. “What happened? Where did she go?”Mendy hesitated, wringing her hands nervously, but she eventually explained, “Lunaria went out for dinner with Henry last night. After that… she didn’t come back.”The mention of Henry sent another jolt through me. My jaw clenched at the thought of her being out with him. My emotions were a tangled mess of worry, anger, and jealousy. If she was with him, surely he’d know something. Surely he’d be the first person to ask about her.“Did anyone talk to Henry?” I asked sharply, trying to stay ca
Nathan’s POV.I woke up to the sensation of pain pulsating through my hand; it must have been sleeping. I rubbed at it as I sat upright, slowly working out the kinks in my body and finding that my neck was stiff from having slept awkwardly. Blinking twice, I strained to recall why I was there and what had occurred before I had gone to sleep.I was still inside of my office, the desktop scattered with sheets of paper—crinkle-edged or else perfectly flat.Right, I had stayed up pretty late last night researching a cure for the epidemic sweeping through our pack. I guess I must have overdone it because next thing I knew, I’d fallen over and slept.I sighed and dropped to my knees, collecting all of the papers that had fallen and making sure they were straight before stacking them back neatly together. My desk was a mess as normal but I liked everything in place before beginning my day. With a last second thought, I reached for the drawer to put them before my cell phone vibrated against
Lunaria’s POV.I was so livid I could barely see straight. My chest heaved as I remembered glaring across the table at Henry. His expression was calm, almost smug as if he truly believed what he’d just said made sense.“How could you even suggest that, Henry?” I hissed, my voice trembling with disbelief. “You know how much Liam means to me! He’s my son—my world! And you want me to leave him behind? Stay in my father’s palace while I move in with you?”I could still see myself walking away from him as he called for me to wait for him but I didn’t care about him. It was clear he had chosen what he wanted to do. I wasn’t the choice he wanted. “Lunaria, wait!” Henry called, scrambling to stand up, but just then, one of the waiters approached him with the bill. He hesitated, glancing between me and the waiter.I didn’t wait for him to decide. I stormed out of the restaurant without looking back. The cool night air hit my face as I stepped outside, but it did little to calm my racing heart
Nathan's POV.I had picked up my coat to leave when a call came in. I wanted to ignore it, but it was from my manager. So, I had to accept it and turned around to head to my desk to sit down."Good day, Alpha," my manager said over the phone. "I was called to remind you that the project will be needed soon by the review team to help you arrange it well. Are you done so I can put them together after editing?"I sighed as I looked at the wet papers on my desk, a mess courtesy of Sarah's tantrum. I clenched my left fist as her behavior popped into my mind. She was insane, and it was becoming sickening."Okay, it should be ready soon. I'm almost done. Await my call and instructions," I replied after a few seconds of silence, and the call came to an end.My eyes blazed with frustration as I stared at the wet papers scattered across my desk. The wine Sarah had poured on them had ruined hours of work. I couldn't believe her audacity and how better she was getting at it these days. She barely
Author’s POV.Sarah stood in the dimly lit alley, her eyes fixed on the man before her. She had come to do exactly what she needed to do before Lunaria took her place. How could she watch her sway Nathan so much already after what happened? She had tried to separate them before just for them to come back together again and her plan was about to get crushed beyond repair and she won’t allow that. Knowing that Kunaria was her problem she knew she had to remove her in any way possible and this time, there won’t be any mistakes. She handed him a folder containing Lunaria's pictures she had hired someone to take."I want her taken care of, make sure she doesn’t survive anything you have in mind for her. I don’t want to see her ever again and if I do, you will pay for it. Remember I will only give you your balance when you carry out your job properly,” she whispered, her voice dripping with contempt.“I hope you can do the job. I ain’t asking too much, right? If you can’t, I can hide someo
Lunaria's POV.I stood in my room, torn between two desires. A part of me longed to call Henry and cancel our dinner plans, just so I could spend more time with Nathan. But another part of me knew I couldn't keep putting Henry off for the reason I couldn’t tell. I wanted to spend more time with Nathan, I wanted him around, to see his face again and hear him speak. I enjoy how much he cares about every little detail that concerns me like he knew me and I was very precious to him. I couldn’t deny the attraction I was growing towards Nathan, it was like a glimpse of him brings joy to my heart, and having him around seemed like I was being protected and cherished but sadly, I had committed to this dinner with Henry which I couldn’t just all of a sudden. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. It was Mendy, who came to inform me that Henry had arrived and I sighed wishing he would have delayed a little bit longer. I quickly brushed my hair, applied some lip gloss, and headed d
