“I'm going out with Ethan later today,” I announced, stepping into the living room where my mum, dad and Ryan were seated watching TV.

“I'm not letting you step out,” Ryan declared, rising from his seat.

“I didn't ask for your permission,” I retorted, glaring at him.

“It's been a whole year already, are we going to keep doing this?” Ryan asked, coming to stand in front of me.

“I don't care how long it has been. You cut off ties with me without a second thought. You all abandoned me and only showed up when you thought I was dead. Probably to bury me,” I remarked.

“Hold it there, mum. I went through hell just because I was born to you, you and your freaking husband. All those times, you never cared. Not even once did you all try to reach me. I battled for my life in the hospital, but someone else came to my rescue before you. You all….” I pointed at them.
