The territory selected for hunting was quite far from the capital, and throughout the carriage ride, Seraphine stared out of the window enthusiastically.
A bright smile was present on her face while she did it.
A little while earlier she questioned Clayton on what all fun activities could be done during hunting, and seeing how he was starting to get irritated by her constant questioning, she was sensible enough to quieten down.
It did make sense for her to be this elated. Thinking about it, in her previous life, it was impossible to get involved with such activities, and indeed, in the school, she had participated in tasks which made her hunt down animals.
But the feeling wasn't similar to this.
"Brother Clayton, how long?" Seraphine asked for the nth time.
Clayton sighed, running his hand through his hair. He really regretted getting on the same carriage. Ce
"That's because I want to remain inconspicuous," Seraphine responded, "Knowing you, you will be hunting down a large number of prey.I am sure you wouldn't want to choose any other Lady and make it problematic. That's why, isn't Scarlett the best choice?"It seemed that Clayton was still hesitant."Just agree to it," Seraphine urged, "In any case, Scarlett is the most important employee at my store, and you are my favourite brother. No harm is done in both of you getting closer."Clayton didn't understand how these two correlated, but seeing how Seraphine was persistent in this matter, he didn't have the heart to turn her down. Once again, he blamed himself for being so soft to her.A groan escaped from his mouth while he vocalised, "Whatever, fine, I will do that. This is annoying. I swear if any trouble pops up after this—"Seraphi
Sharon did feel guilty for her actions. It's not that she wanted to deliberately ignore Seraphine; it's just that things end up being like this although she tries to pay attention to Seraphine."I am sorry," Sharon voiced out, extending her hand towards Seraphine and pulling her into a hug.Seraphine scoffed. "Is there any use in being sorry when you are going to repeat these actions in the future?"Seraphine clicked her tongue.Seraphine sighed. Was being with that silent Eugene better than her? The two of them literally grew up together yet they were too sticky.Truly, Seraphine didn't understand how the brain process of the couples worked."I will try my best to improve; I assure you that," Sharon vocalised."I get it, I get it," Seraphine replied, "If I continue with this, I will look like the
This did make Seraphine happy, considering how Sharon in the novel had no one to rely on.There was certainly fear inside Seraphine that slowly she will be drifting away from Sharon, but she was aware that was foolish. The bond she had with Sharon was beyond friendship. As they went outside, Seraphine noticed how the ladies gathered under the shade. While having some snacks, they discussed on recent affairs while gazing at their surrounding at times.Seraphine moved over with Scarlett and Sharon to take a seat there. While Sharon got into a conversation— even Scarlett had small talks here and there— Seraphine wore a pout on her face while she stared at the men. They were indeed lucky. If only her gender was different, she wouldn't have to sit here, bored and envious. Seraphine bit on the biscuit in her hand while she thought that.Just when
Laurel truly didn't give Seraphine a chance to doubt her feelings towards Lyle.According to reliable sources, Laurel spared no effort in inviting her brother for various occasions or visiting places where her brother would be present.Laurel even used the King to pressurize her brother and her status in order make it difficult for her to brother to avoid. Of course, someone as sly as her brother wouldn't get trapped by tricks of Laurel. This was why, Laurel's pursuit remained fruitless. Seraphine had to admit that Laurel's persistence was one that should be praised. After all, not everyone was able to maintain through this perseverance. If it wasn't for Laurel looking for trouble with her every few days, she would have obviously been persuaded by Laurel. As for Lyle, he was indeed too hard hearted to remain unmoved despite everything. On other hand, it's understandable. Laurel w
A while had passed since the competition had started, and Seraphine was bored beyond words. It didn't take her long to get up from her seat and make her way to the stables.Seraphine didn't have much experience when it came to riding horses. In the beginning, she was enthusiastic about learning one, but later on, it was painful to her, so she didn't put much effort into it.However, she still had skills when it came to it.Even though Seraphine wasn't allowed to hunt or go deep into the forest, it would be possible to roam around for her with the horse nearby, and that would be better than sitting like this. However, before Seraphine was able to reach the stables, Noah blocked her path, and raising one of his eyebrows, he questioned, "Just where do you think you are going, Lady Seraphine?"Seraphine smiled and answered, "Noah, don't worry! I won't be reckless enough to enter the
Seraphine had Noah following after her as she rode around the forest. Although there was no need for it, Seraphine knew how paranoid those surrounding her could be when it came to her.As expected, although first couple of minutes were comfortable, it got tough to sit on the horse after a while, and in order to feel the thrill, she increased her speed. She heard Noah's warning and paid no mind to it. The warm breeze blew past her as the horse moved faster, and she laughed. The feeling was akin to being chased by Noah, and unbeknownst to her, she was slowly beginning to enter into the forest. Following that, Seraphine heard no sounds behind her, and an ominous feeling rose inside her chest.Turning her head back, she was startled to find Noah wasn't there. With his expertise, he would have no difficulty in keeping up and following her. This could only mean one thing, and this caus
Seraphine began to curse in her mind as her horse started to hasten its pace and nothing she did was able to bring the animal under control. It was as if the horse was deeply triggered and frightened. Her heart began to beat rapidly, and Seraphine wondered whether or not to jump from the animal. Who knew where this horse would lead her to?But the problem was that the forest only turned denser as the horse moved forward, and if she chose a wrong moment to jump, it could get fatal. Moreover, with all the branches sticking out, she had to be careful in avoiding them and thus, had a hard time thinking of appropriate responses.A groan escaped her mouth as a branch scraped against her neck, and it could have potentially been life endangering if it wasn't for her timely dodge. The other problem lied with the fact Seraphine wasn't incredible when it came to riding
Luckily, for Seraphine, she had her sword with her, and this did give her a sense of security although it wasn't much. Not everything could be handled by a sword. After confirming the horse wasn't breathing anymore, Seraphine first took in her state. Couple of wounds were present on her body, and her ankle had a soreness around it.Her clothes were torn around at certain places. Fortunately, she wasn't bleeding deeply or else she would be at a loss on how to do first aid.Elliot probably wasn't invincible, and that's why time would take for him to be actually aware that she was injured. Of course, she was giving him the benefit of doubt. There was a high chance he was having fun having her suffer and would only rescue her when she was at the brink of death. Then, she moved on to observing her surroundings. Everything around her was eerily silent, and not even a creature could be
