"I have something to tell you,'"Elijah began, trying to keep my voice steady. "We're getting married."

Marcus's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "What? That's great news! I'm so happy for both of you," a genuine smile spreading across his face.

I could see the pain in his eyes, and it made me feel guilty. But i keep reminding myself how he mistreated me before.

"We've been together for a while now," ELijah explained, trying to sound nonchalant. 'We're really happy and we just decided to take the next step."
