“What do you mean? We forged no signature,” Sylvia cried, struggling to get her arms away from the policemen but their hold on her was too strong. “Let the fuck go of me,” she yelled. “My husband willingly signed the papers. I did nothing.”

“We found out the medical condition of your husband. Including that he’s unable to recognize people at the moment.” The shareholders in the room gasped, their eyes widening at the policeman's words and they found themselves looking from Sylvia to Anna as if searching for an answer in their eyes. “You have to come with us to the station and explain how you got his signature in this condition.”

“I’ll explain nothing. This is an assault, I hope you know that. I’ve been nothing but a good wife to my husband.”

They began to pull both of them away. But before they could take Elle far away, she yelled at them to stop and spat. “Mother forged the signature.”

Sylvia felt blood drain from her face and she tried to communicate with her daughter with her eyes.
