His/Her Encounter

Cardium Health Hub Hospital, Azurea, California, USA… With a table filled with files and documents scattered like autumn leaves, Dr Deane leaned back on his office chair gazing at a distance. The luxurious curtains fluttered with each gust of wind. Dr Deane sighed unknowingly, sinking into the serenity and emptiness of his office. He was on leave, yet he was still in his office. Staying home wasn't an option for him; he'd be caught in the web of his nagging ‘girlfriend.’ Suddenly, the silence was broken by a loud bang on his door followed by muffled sounds. Dr Deane jerked up, his brows creasing. The door opened forcibly, breaking a hinge in the process. He stood up immediately, cursing “What in the world!?”. His eyes darted, from his secretary to the security guards and then to the woman they were restricting. “Argh! Let me go! Dr Deane!” She struggled, her green eyes trembling. Her hair was tattered and her complexion pale. “What is the meaning of this?” Dr Deane ask

Wanda Hawkins/ Silas Deane

She smiled widely, “What are you doing here, doctor?” “Um..” he was at a loss of words, what was he doing here? “That reminds me, sir, I have some questions to ask,” her tone was fixed, but her eyes betrayed a longing desire. All he could concentrate on was how the song of the woman reached its climax and was concluding. He quickly dismissed Nurse Cohort. “Sorry, you can go home on your own.” He said in a hurry and entered the ward. Cohort fumed, her mouth slightly parted. She was just about to say she was a night shifter but he left her hanging. The woman with gentle green eyes sat watching her son while rubbing his hair. Dr Deane stood there, not knowing what to say or why he came in. She looked at him and her eyes widened in surprise. She immediately stood up, hanging her head low in the process. “Dr. Deane, you're here” He nodded. She looked up. “Are you…here to check on Andy?” She asked, revealing the name of her son. He nodded, retrieving his stethoscope from his

Third wheel?

She answered the call. [“Silas why didn't you pick up? I just finished up with Daddy; let's meet at Sweet Dine’n’Wine. You like that place right?”] Fiona asked. Wanda sat there with the phone to her ear. She had already answered and had to say something. [“Um. Hello”] There was a short pause before Fiona yelled out [“Who the fuck is this!? Who are you? What are you doing with Sila's phone? Where's he? Did you steal his phone? Why aren't you speaking up? What are you doing with-”] [“Please calm down ma’am”] Wanda said hastily [“Who the hell are you calling, ma’am, you cheap pickpocket? Where's my baby!?”] Fiona ranted. Her baby? [“Listen..um..Fiona Hart, Dr Deane is in the operating room right now, and he can't speak to you.”] Wanda bit her lower lip. Fiona kept ranting on [“You lowlife of a woman, you dare lie to me!? You're trying to steal Silas away from me aren't you, you gold digger”] Her insults were getting a bit too much. [“ I'm not a golddigger and I'm not stea

Not more than friends

“Where were you at noon today?” Was the greeting Silas got first immediately after coming in. “Work” he responded and entered. Unconvinced, Fiona folded her arms across her chest. “Who was she?” She asked “Who?” Silas entered the kitchen “The woman who answered the call!” Fiona's voice rose. “The mother to my patient.” He poured himself a glass of water “Oh really?” She sounded skeptical “Why were you with her then?” Calmly, Silas responded “I wasn't with her, my phone was” “Why!?” Silas downed the entire glass and kept the cup. “Her son was having a seizure, and I was in a hurry, so I just tossed it to whoever was close, and she just happened to be the one. I didn't give it to her intentionally.” Fuming, she asserted “You should've just kept it in your pocket, Silas” Silas sighed and said “At that moment, tossing it was out of impulse. Like I said, not intentionally.” She glared at him, dissatisfied with his responses so far. “I feel like you're not taking this
