Tamara rambled on and on to Alex’s gravestone.

Sebastian stood on the sidelines, accompanying her silently. A soft breeze blew by, carrying Tamara’s gentle voice away.

“Mom, I managed to save Grandma, Uncle Jon, Aunt Cheryl, the quadruplets, and all my three kids. I’m pretty awesome, aren’t I?” Tamara said, then laughed out loud.

“I can imagine you singing my praises all day long if you were still here,” she said, remembering fondly. “Back when I was younger, I relied on you so much. Look at how independent and strong I’ve become.”

“Mom, I’ve been great recently.”

After speaking her mind, Tamara’s smile widened with relief, as if a colossal rock had been lifted from her shoulders. She felt much lighter and at ease.
