Tamara was taken aback. She blinked curiously and signed, “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Were you glad when James came to your rescue?”

Sebastian’s handsome face had darkened, his gaze fixed on hers.

Tamara blinked, then answered honestly, “His sudden appearance surprised me. Obviously, I was relieved that someone had come to my aid.”

Sebastian pursed his thin lips. His body exuded a cold aura, and his gaze grew displeased.

Tamara pouted. “But when you appeared, I had another line of thought. I was relieved that you were finally there. I think I would have passed out from fear if you had arrived later.”

Sebastian was stunned for a moment. Then, the dark expression on his face lightened. “The fact that he had appeared in the nick of time shows that he’s been keeping a close eye on you. I won’t fault you for feeling thankful for his help, but you don’t have to feel like you owe him anything because of it.”
