Margot called Kevan over. "David said he lost something in the basement. Please go help him find it."

Kevan was puzzled. "What did he lose?"

Margot shook her head. "I don't know either."

Kevan didn't question it and headed straight for the basement.

Meanwhile, Margot sat on the couch in the lobby and summoned Jake.

Jake had a piece of weed in his mouth as he calmly said, "Lance has bribed David. He wants to lock you in the basement and stage a fire."

Margot looked at him in surprise. She didn't expect him to already know about this. "If you knew, why didn't you tell me earlier?"

Jake shrugged. "Didn't you already sense that something was wrong?"

Margot fell silent.

Jake continued, "I've fixed the damaged wiring that he tampered with. There wouldn't be a fire even if you went to the basement."

Margot remained silent. Jake was something else. He had thought of everything, which was why he didn't bother to warn her.

Time passed, but Kevan still hadn't come up from the basement.
