Annalise's POV.

"Come, love, we need to get you ready for your ball, you have no idea how excited I am right now, your coming is just something that has brought immense joy into my life." Grandma proclaimed immediately she saw me heading down the stairs and despite the anxiety bubbling inside my every cell, I smiled seeing that glow on her face.

I was still worried about something no one seemed to be bothered about, especially my grandma and my father, they were both so focused on the ball and everything that they were not considering my worries.

What if I am not truly the gifted one?

What if everything that happened was just a big coincidence?

Would my father still accept me if it turns out that I am not gifted? Those questions whirled in my mind and the way everything was happening so fast was giving me a good reason to escape from all these and meditate.

"Girl, seriously, don't you have any other clothes apart from the rag you're wearing?" One of the women standing beside my

Annalise's POV. Elsa's hoots made me flinch, the ridicule she hurled at me didn't even bother me, she'd always trash-talk me at any given opportunity, so today wasn't an exception. Elsa was a medical student before she decided to go into the fashion world after graduation. I don't know but the girl had always loathed me, rumors had it that I took something that belonged to her, and up to date, I had no idea what that was. She's the daughter of a wealthy lineage in the country and I don't know what a girl from my background would take away from her to make her so sore. "Calm down Elsa, you don't have to create a scene whenever we meet," I said, trying to appease her but that only seemed to enrage her because the next thing she did surprised me. *Pak!* She slapped me so hard that my left cheek burned due to the intensity of the slap. "What the hell?!" I let out a yell and gave her an incensed look."What's wrong with you Elsa? What in the name of God was that?!" I flared, my eyes

Annalise's POV. 'See you at the ball, Cara Mia,' Those words he mused at the fashion shop still rang in my ears like a broken record. Anytime it does, my body shivers in delight. Who was that man that I had healed? Why does he sound so….powerful? Why does everyone here look powerful? My eyes only tore from the door he had walked through when Grandmother came into the fashion shop. When I thought I had picked a very expensive gown, Grandma made me realize that we could buy the entire fashion shop and not still get broke. She has made me try a lot of gowns just to pick the perfect one for the ball. Ella was quick to run away after the man left, I was sure she would have been shocked out of her soul if she had seen who had followed me to the fashion store. Finally, Grandma was able to settle for the 'One'. An emerald green gown that slightly turned black at the bottom. It was an off-shoulder flowing gown. My eyes twinkled at the very sight of it and Grandma called it, 'The One'. Thi

I was standing in the midst of so many people. I had never been this exposed in my entire life. Although the mask had covered my face, I wasn't sure anyone would see me and recognize me, I was still feeling very self-conscious. Grandma had left my side to say Hello to her friends and I could see my father from where I stood with a glass of drink in my hand. He was speaking to some people as well. From the corner of my eyes, I could see familiar faces, like my step-siblings and stepmom. The thing was, they had walked passed me more than three times, yet they couldn't recognize me. Thank God for the face mask. The hall was so big and there were cameras everywhere. Father must have spent a lot to organize such a party in a short period of time. Not only that, the hall was full one would think that invitation had been sent weeks back. Everyone stood with a glass of wine in their hand as they spoke to another person. Everyone was dressed nicely and expensive, with one glance, one would

"Here you are," I turned to see the man whom my heart could not stop thinking about all day. I swear, this man is a lifesaver. He comes always at the right and perfect time. A sweet smile formed on my lips as I called, "Liam,"Without waiting for anyone to speak, I was quick to take his hand and walk away from where Benson and Lara stood. I didn't care if they wanted to speak to each other but Liam was my escape out of there. When we got to a safe distance away, I looked from my shoulders to see that the pests weren't following and I released breaths. I smiled at him and said, "Thank you," He didn't know why I was thanking him but he nodded. Under the light, I scanned him from top to bottom. He was dressed in a black tuxedo with a green pocket square in his suit making me narrow my eyes at it. Did he plan to wear something similar color to what I was wearing? Grandma had picked my gown for me and Liam had long left the fashion store so how did he… Or did Grandma call him to let

I watched my father take the mic as he stood on the stage. His face glowed with a smile, and everyone could tell that he was excited. He was dressed in a dark blue tuxedo, vibrant and full of life. One could tell without knowing him properly that he was a wealthy man. The way he carried himself spoke volumes. At first, he addressed the public, telling them how happy he was that they could make it to the party on such short notice. Even I am shocked about that, just yesterday they were invited and boom! More than a thousand people are here. "Are you okay?" Liam asked from the side and I forced a smile at him. My fingers were trembling, my palms sweaty and I couldn't stop stamping my left foot on the ground out of nervousness. "I'm fine," I replied before inhaling and exhaling some air to calm myself. I have never been in such a position before and I am praying earnestly not to faint before I get on stage. "Just yesterday…" Father's words flew into my ears, "I found out that I had

Annalise's POV. My heart raced, and I felt the room spin as my father's words hung in the air. "The heir... Annalise George Smith!" The name echoed through the hall. Gasps of surprise rippled through the guests, their eyes turning toward me and I wish the ground to give way beneath me."Dad, what... what are you saying?" I stammered, the weight of the revelation sinking in. The life I had known, one of humble origins, shattered as the truth about my life was revealed. The gasps around me reflected the disbelief that clenched my own heart."You, my dear, are the one with the gift," my father explained, his voice resonating, his eyes holding a mixture of pride and expectation. The world I thought I knew crumbled, replaced by the new responsibility of inheriting an empire."But... But... I... You.." I stuttered, my heart on the verge of beating out of my chest.Good Lord! What's happening?!"Darling..." I heard a familiar feminine voice called and I slowly turned to see my grandma headi

It was like I had suddenly become intimidating to them because their eyes kept darting left and right. Grandma kept speaking about how she got to know the Walford family and how nice they are and I couldn't help but smirk. Nice, huh? No matter how well Grandma said she knew them, I can boldly say that I knew them better. I stayed with them and have experienced each and every one of them firsthand. I didn't want to cause a scene here in the party, my party so when Grandma finally said,"Mr. and Mrs. Walford, meet my daughter, Annalise George Smith," I quickly stretched out my hand for them to take in a handshake, acting like I didn't know them, I forced out a smile, "Hello, nice to meet you," Nice to meet you. Definitely not them The look on their face switched immediately from fear to confusion. I swear, they might be wondering if I wasn't the same Annalise they had sent out of their house a few weeks ago. My hand remained hanging as none of them had taken it yet and Grandma sq

"Security!" Grandma kept yelling, causing everyone to look our way. I almost shrank as I inwardly prayed that the ground open and swallow me. I saw Father rushing towards us, and Liam also had come from wherever he hid himself. I didn't know why Grandma loved to be the center of attention. I am not against it but can you not add me to it, Grandma? "Mother, what's wrong?" Father asked and I glanced at Grandma hoping she wouldn't tell the world that her granddaughter got divorced. I don't know how I would be able to look at anyone in the eyes I think Grandma sensed how I was feeling because she said, "This family here disrespected my granddaughter, the heir to the Smith family and I want them thrown out of this ball right this minute!" Her voice was loud and if you didn't see her, you wouldn't know it was an old lady speaking. "Security!!" She screamed again and Father said, "Don't shout. The security will come, do not stress yourself they'll be thrown out," I looked at my father

Chapter Early SeductionLiam's POV The room was quiet, there were noises right outside the room but I remained seated on the bed, not saying a word but working on my phone. The sound of rushing water from the bathroom kept making me look towards the bathroom, not wanting to do so anymore. I moved to sit facing the wall instead of the bathroom door, yet I kept hearing the sound of water– completely disturbing me from my work. My thoughts filled with the person using the rushing water, I gulped time and time again. I was trying to focus on my phone, distract myself from my own thoughts but it wasn't working. Annalise had asked that I go over to the office and she would meet me up at the office but I refused. I wanted to take her to the party myself so I waited. She pulled me into the house and into her room without asking me if I wanted to be there. I suspected she must have done that because of her Grandma J but I wish she didn't. Now, I can't get my thoughts from thinking the righ

  • Heartache To Hierarchy   101:Final Examination

Annalise's POV The loud ding of the bell rang around the classroom causing everyone to drop their pen. Professor Ken walked around picking up the answer booklet from our tables as he spoke,“This is the easiest examination I have ever set for my students, so I expect you all to get an A, right?” I wanted to snort, he probably must have been sleeping when he set the exams. This was the first examination that I didn't submit on time but the bell rang on me. “You all behind, come and drop your answer booklets on my desk,” He instructed as he walked back to his seat. The classroom was quiet, no one spoke, the atmosphere was heavy, like we all knew we had failed the examination. The only people with a lively mood were Mia and her minors. Somehow, they happened to have submitted even before the bell rang. Now, these ladies don't get this excited for other courses, making me wonder if they had done something behind our back to know answers to questions that weren't taught in class. “Ho

Author's POV “Any news?” Mrs Walford asked but Benson shook his head dejectedly as he walked into his room, taking off his tie with one hand. His eyes dim, his face unsure of what to do next as he stared into space before sitting lazily on the bed. Mrs Walford could already understand her son's mood and was ready to do everything to make him happy again. “Don't tell me that's the reason you are this way? Come On boy, Annalise would definitely come around” “I… I don't know, mother. Can you see what's going on? Did you see the pictures out there? She's with Liam now” Benson sighed. He hated that he was feeling useless because of Annalise. This was someone he had used and treated like trash just a year back. Things had turned a 360 degree and he can't believe he had to drop his pride to get her back. Sending flowers and letters and even calling her. To the extent that his mother started sending the flowers herself, along with the letters as he was giving up already. “It's not over

  • Heartache To Hierarchy   99: Good News.

Liam's POV Days turned to weeks after the meeting with the family. Everyone became extremely busy, especially Annalise. I was busy of course with the company but I never stopped going to drop Anna in school and pick her up from school also. Our relationship only became better since the meeting and I just cannot believe I had been able to get to her heart. I was seated in my office with my computer staring at me because I was completely lost in thought, but the knock on the door caused me to regain myself, “Come in,” I ordered and my secretary stepped in. She bowed to me, “Good afternoon sir, the company from China just called.” I sat upright hearing this. This is a company I have been trying to secure a contract with for more than two weeks. “And?” I wondered why they didn't call me directly. “They would like to work with us, sir” she smiled and added, “They would send the contract via mail tomorrow.” I sighed in relief and let my body relax some more on the chair. This is goo

How can I get married now? I just got divorced a few months ago, how can I just jump to another marriage?“Our decision is final, I do not know how the both of you plan to do it but make it work,” Grandma Smith said before taking her seat.I could feel Liam’s gaze on me and his hand on my thigh still moving gently but I was lost. The fear of getting married to someone again. What if he changes immediately after marriage? What if he doesn’t want me any longer? What if he had a lover somewhere that would come later on to take her rightful place? Just like what happened with Benson.“Anna, Anna…” “Hey baby” I felt his hold tighten on my thigh and I noticed that all eyes were on me. Were they waiting for me to speak?“Annalise, you have to say something,” Father said and I moved my chair backwards and Li

  • Heartache To Hierarchy   97:Family meeting

Annalise's POV It was an impromptu family meeting and I knew why it was held. Of course, it was because of what happened between Liam and I. When we thought everyone deleted the content that day, the pictures were still spread around. We didn't know who did it. One of the pictures was a picture of only me staring at the crowd with wide eyes, my hand holding the duvet tightly, Liam was somehow cut out of it. While the other picture was me looking at Liam as he looked back at me. In the picture, his chest was exposed for the world to see.Newspapers carried it, business news, social media, it was everywhere. When I got home that day, I had slept off until late evening when Grandma J and Mother came rushing into the room to show me the pictures. I didn't know Grandma J was on Instagram until that day. This one keeps surprising me.But that wasn't my concern as my mouth dropped when I saw the content, I thought Grandma Smith asked the entire thing to be deleted. I immediately called G

  • Heartache To Hierarchy   96:Ruined plan

Arthur's POV Mia stood in front of Grandma Smith and Father, she was staring at them but shut herself from listening to what they were saying. She didn't care one bit about their yelling and their screaming. She could hardly sleep the night before knowing that her plan was already on, she was so sure that everything had fallen into place. That is why she couldn't understand how everything went haywire. She had gotten a call at the party that Annalise was already in the room and she also saw when Anna was taken into the elevator. There cannot be mistakes, she had also called Professor Ken before going to meet Liam and Annalise was already in room 315. So while Grandma Smith and her Father were yelling at her, she wasn't even listening. How was it, Liam? How? That was why she confidently woke her Father and Grandma Smith up saying she had something important to show them. Before they got back to Dreamland, she had called the media to position themselves. Kelvin only tagged along be

Annalise POV Bang! The loud sound caused me to jump up from the bed in shock, a scream followed, “I told you, she is a whore! A whore! Your heir is a—” Mia paused as she looked at us. My heart was in my mouth when I noticed what was going on. My hands held tightly to the duvet that covered my naked body, my chest heaving up and down as I watched the people who had barged into the unfamiliar room. Then I turned to the figure beside me and my eyes widened some more as I saw Liam. He didn't bother to cover his upper body, his toned skin appeared for all to see. I gulped as I could hear the sounds of cameras clicking, but my gaze remained on the man beside me, Liam. His gaze met mine and I saw how his hard gaze suddenly softened as he asked, “How are you?” Completely ignoring the crowd before us. My mouth opened and closed again as I felt the burn from my cheeks to my neck. All that happened last flooded my memory and even if it didn't, it was so evident in Liam's body. Christ! I

  • Heartache To Hierarchy   94:One hot night

Liam's POV The moans and how her voice had suddenly changed, filled me up causing me to completely lose it. As much as my erect was screaming for her, I don't know what Annalise would do if I gave in. She's not in her right state of mind and having her now, would she kill me? I didn't get to think much about this because her soft hands began to undo my button in a hurry. I was stunned because she let go of my shirt went straight to the zip of my trousers and helped me undo them.My suit was already off my body, Annalise was shaking, she was impatiently and desperately trying to get my cock out of its cage. Her eyes were teary, her lips parted slightly. She wasn't able to get through as quickly as she wanted because she gave up and just sat on my still-covered dick and began to ride me. Her back pressed on my chest as she moved up and down my length. “Uhmmmm” she moaned and soon, she began to lift herself up and down in desperation as she cried. “Fuck!” I cussed and quickly turned
