Jenna POV “We need to get her to the Pack hospital now,” I say to Adam. He stands up mind-linking Jack to advise we were moving. Jack comes in once Adam unlocks the door and picks Josie up as we all run to the Pack house. Adam had also mind-linked Doctor Rivers to have a gurney ready when we arrived. Doctor Rivers and one of his nurses were waiting and rushed Josie to the designated room. Adam came in behind me with Jack guarding the door. Doctor Rivers excused the nurse waiting for her to leave before looking at me waiting for an explanation. As the door closed, I looked to Doctor Rivers, “I am trying to heal her as I started to heal her brother,” I say to him. He looks at me confused and looks down to Josie. “Why her?” he asks me. “She was innocent in all of this; she deserves a second chance,” I reply to him. He nods as he moves around starting to attach different machines to Josie. “What happened when you started to heal her?” he ask
Jenna POV I woke up with a gasp and startled the crap out of Adam in the process. He jumped up looking around the room for the attacker. “What the hell, Jenna?” he asks as he realizes there was nothing in the room that was an immediate threat. After I caught my breath, I shared with Adam my nightmare. He was silent as he listened to me share the details of what I had experienced. “Do we assume you can now see into people’s past, if you heal them?” Adam asks me. “I do not know. I never had that with Eric or anyone else whom I have healed,” I replied. “And what about your father?” he says. “What about him?” I ask confused. “Your father claims he killed the Rogue King,” he reminds me. I realize he is correct, “Perhaps he made a mistake? I am not clear who he killed, but Eric definitely killed his father in the nightmare,” I said confidently. It had scared me to watch someone else’s life unravel in front of my own eyes. It was like I liv
Jenna POV I had cleared the remaining substance from Josie’s brain. As I cleaned up the tarry substance, I was alarmed to see the tracking device inside her was still flashing. Meaning it was still working and attached to something or someone who was tracking her movements. My powers were limited in that I could not impact communication from the device. Adam, Josie, and I had discussed the potential of having it removed but I did advise them it was in an intricate part of the brain. The risk would be high that she would either not make it out of the surgery or would potentially have brain damage. I agreed to consult with Doctor Rivers on his knowledge of doctors who might specialize in this type of surgery with high success rates. The bigger question was why did she have a tracking device inside her? Was it something from her father, or had it been put there for other reasons or by someone else? And who was monitoring it now? Josie had alw
Jenna POV We strategized into the night on how the meeting would go down. Adam had tried calling the number back, but as we suspected the man had used a burner phone and it was no longer in service. Adam was uncomfortable with the plan; however, we had no choice and we were running out of time. I had to meet with the individual at ten the next morning. I had tried calling my father, but I had not heard back from him yet. I was not sure what I was expecting from him. I still wanted to know why he claimed to have killed the Rogue King. And to see if he knew of anyone who might have been working with the Rogue King roughly fifteen to twenty years ago. I also had to acknowledge that with the recent history with my dad, could I trust that he would even share the truth with me. As Adam and Jack wrapped up planning with their top warriors, I felt Adam lift me and carry me up the stairs to our suite. I had been laying on the couch as they talked s
Jenna POV “Dad?” I ask confused. My father looks at me with a mixture of embarrassment and frustration. What is he doing here and what happened to the mystery man I was supposed to meet? I looked around the diner once more in case I have missed him, and this is some bizarre coincidence. “Sit, Jenna,” my father says as he gestures to the server to come take our order. As Adam suggested, I refused anything and sit there expectantly waiting for my father to explain why he was here. He ordered himself a coffee with breakfast. He smirked when I refused to order anything, “Did your mate tell you not to take anything?” he taunts me. Again, I am confused by his behaviour. This is not the man I grew up with. I ignore his question considering standing up and leaving. I would not tolerate his treatment of me, regardless of if he was my father or not. “Why are you here?” I ask my father. He takes a sip of his fresh coffee, and simply looks at me.
Jenna POV I try to get away from Adam scrambling on my hands and knees to get to my father. I hated him in this moment, but I did not want him to die. Adam held me back until he was certain the shooter was no longer a threat. He and Jack protected me with their bodies as we hurried to where my father had fallen. I immediately see that my father has a gun shot through the chest. I quickly role him and see that the bullet went through him. I am uncertain what might have been hit with the shot, but it is a good sign that the bullet went through him. I tell Adam so they can start looking to make sure the bullet did not strike anyone in the diner, while I go to work on my father. I do a discreet scan and see that his heart was nicked with the bullet but everything else is fine. I do a quick fix that does not require a lot of my healing efforts. I put my hand over the bullet hole and hold it there while his wolf tries to stop the bleeding. Bein
Adam POV Jenna had taken a seat on the couch. Jack was standing against the wall next to where she sat. And I was sitting behind my desk. I had been advised two warriors were on their way with Tiffany. The door was open in expectation of their arrival. As the warriors entered the Pack house, we could hear Tiffany screaming profanities at the warriors. They clearly were not bothered by her words as they suddenly appeared with her in the doorway. Pushing Tiffany inside she fell to her hands and knees in the middle of my office. As she turned to scowl at the two warriors, I yelled, “Enough!”. She was startled and suddenly looked around the room realizing where she was. A look of fear crossed her face briefly before she smirked at me. She had the audacity to smirk. She stands in front of me, “You called for me, Alpha? Finally, had enough of your Luna?” she taunts. I see Jenna tense out of the corner of my eye, but she does not rise. I can
Adam POV I could not believe what I was hearing. Like this made some kind of sense to Alpha Gordon. I could feel the tension and heartbreak that Jenna was feeling. I had wrapped my arms around her, feeling her coldness in the dank dungeons. I tried to move her, but she was standing firm. She was not finished with her father. “What do you get in return for turning me and Josie over?” Jenna asks her father. He looks at her confused. “Jenna, you are safe for now. They have Josie,” he says like he has saved her. “That’s just it, I am safe for now, what happens when they need me? Are you going to kidnap me yourself?” she asks her father. “Jenna, you always were so dramatic,” her father hisses. “What is the harm in healing the men and women to help them?” he asks her. We all look at him incredulously. “You want me to heal an army of rogues who want to destroy Packs?” she asks him slowly. It is like he does not see the harm of what he is sa
Six months later ... Jenna POV I sat feeding my pup, Grace. She was the most beautiful little girl I had ever seen, but I am sure I am quite bias I think with a chuckle. She had dark hair like her daddy, and silver eyes like me with her angelic features. Adam was an amazing daddy to his little girl. He got up with me for all feedings and took her to his office often to give me a break. There was no me and him; it was one hundred percent us. I loved him more for that. Grace had been born two months ago. I do not know how, but I was blessed with a very quick labour and delivery. I suspect it had something to do with Gracie’s impatience at wanting to be born. She was ready to see this world and meet her family. We knew from the moment of her birth she had a strong aura. You knew you were in the presence of someone special. Her eyes were bright, and she has been aware of her surroundings since the first moment she opened them. It would n
Adam POV As I come through the forest and come upon the scene in front of me my heart sinks as I see yet another ring of rogues surrounding Jenna. I can see the two warriors in front of her being destroyed as Tim makes his way towards her. I roar my anger as Jake pounces forward destroying all rogues in his path. My only goal is to get to Jenna. When I heard from her it was Elder Fred who had betrayed us, I was filled with rage. I wanted to destroy him myself, but I see someone beat me to it as his insides are spilled out on the ground in front of Jenna. I know, from Jenna, that the Pack members present are unable to shift as they were affected by the wolfsbane. It also explains why they could not communicate with me. Fortunately, the rogues were not bothering with them, and I could see the women were pushing the children away as best they could without drawing attention to themselves. I make my way through the crowd of rogues along with th
Adam POV It felt great to have Sam back again. I am sure there is some story behind his mystery woman, but that would be a conversation over a cold beer once we cleared out the rogue situation. I shifted midstride, destroying my clothes but there was no time to stop and change. Our warriors were updating us that the numbers of rogues entering our territory were higher than we had seen before. They might be an army, but they were not a healed army so there would be disorganization amongst them. They would fight for so long before their own goals would shadow what the current head rogue wanted. And it concerned me that the head rogue could be Tim. He knew more about Jenna because of his connection to the Rogue King and Wendy. Clearly it put him at an advantage we would have preferred he not have. As I broke through the clearing, Sam and Jack were close on my heels. I could not believe what I saw. There were at least thirty rogues fighting o
Adam POV Jenna’s father was brought back into the courtroom. Her mother, Luna Ashley, was also brought in for her husband’s sentencing. She sits directly behind Alpha Gordon, with warriors on either side of her. Everyone was required to stand as the judges returned to their seats. They looked solemnly at those of us present. “There is no winning side in today’s proceedings,” the judge starts to say. “There is only room for justice. The atrocities committed by Alpha Gordon Frasier in the case of trying to kidnap his own daughter, in return assisting with the kidnapping of someone else, plus supporting the development of a rogue army leave us little wiggle room for sentencing anything less than life in prison,” the judge concludes his spiel. Jenna’s mother screams and the warriors must grab her to keep her from lunging toward the judges. Alpha Gordon slams his fist down on the table, breaking it in half as he stands also threatening the judg
Adam POV Since Jenna’s mother’s revelation that the rogues were coming for us, I have rallied our troops to get them ready for an impending attack. I have tried to reach Sam with no luck. It is unusual that I would not be able to reach him, but I had to assume he was having a good time. He was due back by the end of this week. I would worry if he did not show up then. Jenna’s mother disclosed nothing more than the statements, “I expect they will be here any time now.”. That had been a couple of days ago. Jenna had a lot of time for painstaking self-reflection during this time. Well reflection on her entire life. How parents could treat their daughter as they had was still beyond reproach to me. Jenna was also suffering thinking of Josie. Not lost on us was the fact that Eric tried to become her mate. That reflects how little everyone knew of the deceit of Jenna’s parents and the Rogue King himself. Had they known the truth, they may have avoided a
Jenna POV It had been a couple days since we had incarcerated my father. My mother had arrived with more flair than I had ever noticed before. When she first saw me, she walked over to me standing beside Adam and Jack. I had expected a hug. What I got was a slap in the face. The parking area echoed with the slap against my face. Adam quickly grabbed my mother’s arm breaking it. “How dare you touch my mate?” he yells at her. “Oh please, you did not want her in the beginning and now you expect me to believe you have changed. It is because she is a healer and the strength she brings to your Pack!” she shrieks. I cringe back hating being reminded of our start. And now I have to wonder if my parents ever really cared for me, or did they only like what I brought to the table? “Why did you bother keeping me a secret?” I ask her as she stands there nursing her broken arm. “What?” she asks me confused with my question. “Why didn’t you tell others I had he
