Chapter 37 – RexIt’s been almost an hour and Diesel is still nowhere to be found. “Something is wrong, mate needs us.” Lia said anxiously.I tried to mind link Diesel again. “Diesel are you there? I’m worried, where are you?”Nothing.“Please Diesel, answer me.” Still nothing.Payton had checked his office and was going upstairs to our room to look for him. “Check the astronomy observatory as well.” I linked her. “Will do, stay with my father, we’ll find him.” She linked back.Max and Zeke had slipped out of the ball room to check the perimeter for any signs of him. I linked Sam our chief tracker. “Sam we can’t seem to find the Alpha and he’s not responding to the mind links. I need you to track him.”“Yes Luna, I’m on it.” He replied.“Lucy, have a seat, I’m sure he’s okay, all this worrying can’t be good for the pups.” Alpha Knox told me.“But what if he found Ranger and something happened?”“Ranger is no threat to Diesel without his wolf. Even with Rex, he was never as strong as D
Chapter 38 – CousinDiesel’s POVI opened my eyes and the room was spinning. I could hardly hold my head up. I could feel Duke, he was weakened. What the fuck did he inject me with?I looked around the room to try and figure out where I was. It definitely wasn’t the coat closet. I was in a rocky dungeon or cave. The only light came from a single torch on the wall. My wrists were burning from heavy silver. I heard someone moving and felt a kick to my ribs.“Look who’s finally awake.” I heard a gruff voice say. I recognized that voice and his scent, his scent was fresh cut grass and oak.My eyes focused and his face became clear. “YOU! IT WAS YOU?” I growled in disgust.“You can call me cousin.” He said and punched me in the jaw.“Uncle Titus didn’t have any children.” I said as I struggled against the silver chains he had around my wrists. I wanted to rip his fucking throat out.“Funny, your brother said the same thing before I killed him.” He laughed. He killed Ranger? If he had kille
Chapter 39 – Rescue“Your uncle Titus has a child?” I asked Ranger.“Apparently no one knew, Jordan Monroe is Jordan LaRue.” He said as he struggled against the silver chains.“I’m going to shift, close your eyes. Once I shift, I won’t be able to communicate with you. I’m going to pull the chains down and you can ride on my back.” I told him.“I don’t want to hurt you.” He said.“Oh, trust me, you can’t. Now close your eyes.”I shifted and moved to the silver chains on the walls. Lia grabbed the chain and yanked the bolts right out of the rocky wall. We’d have to figure out how to get them off his wrists soon, they were slowing down his healing.Ranger was unable to use his legs at the moment and crashed to the hard stone ground. He looked up at me and struggled for words as he took in the sight of Lia. “What the hell?”I barked back at him; I really didn’t have time for this. I needed to get moving to find Diesel. Lia picked up the lighter in her mouth and lowered us down so Ranger c
Chapter 40 – Code RedDuke and I descended down the mountain with Ranger still on my back. The full moon’s light was bright, and I could see what looked like a thousand wolves rushing towards us. In the front leading the wolves was a large black Alpha wolf with blue eyes. I instantly recognized Kruz, Alpha Knox’s wolf. The other wolves came to a halt as many set eyes on Lia for the first time, they lowered their heads. Kruz walked up to Duke and nodded his head, then he turned towards me and sniffed the air.“What happened to Ranger? Where have you been?” He asked us through the mind link.I looked at Duke and his eyes glazed over; his Alpha voice rang through the mind link to every pack member. “Attention Crescent Moon, we have found the traitor! Earlier this evening, Alpha Jordan Monroe, attacked your Alpha and Luna. He has gathered rogues just outside our territory who planned to attack our most vulnerable pack members first, the elders and pups, while the pack took their tradition
Chapter 41 – War“Who’s going to tell Payton?” I asked as we walked over to the infirmary.Alpha Knox and Diesel exchanged uncomfortable looks as if trying to decide how to tell her. I know that Payton had taken the rejection very hard. Ramos had rejected her on sight, because she was Diesel’s sister after Diesel challenged and killed Titus. Ramos was one of the best warriors Crescent Moon had at the time. His blind loyalty to the previous Alpha had turned him into a rogue. We reached the infirmary; Dr. Ross was going to have a busy night. We walked by the first room and I could smell Ranger. I could hear whimpers coming from the second room, Vannica was still in labor. The third room had a great deal of commotion going on, Dr. Ross and nurse Nelly fluttered around the room stabilizing Athena.Payton stepped out of Vannica’s room. “The pup is almost here.” She said smiling.“What’s wrong?” She asked noticing the uncomfortable glances she was receiving.“We have a situation.” Diesel sa
Chapter 42 – LossAn earth shaking growl ripped out of Lia’s mouth and her teeth were bared. Wolves across the field turned their heads mid-fight looking for the source of the God like growl. Some even stopped dead in their tracks, unable to move, in awe of the mythical wolf standing before them.Ramos seemed to lose his confidence the closer he got to me. Lia radiated power beyond any Alpha. Payton took advantage of this distracted moment to jump on Ramos and sink her teeth in the back of his neck. He growled in pain and managed to throw her black wolf off. Payton rolled back up and was ready to charge again when Max let out an angry growl, snarling and challenging Ramos. Ramos circled slowly taking in the size of Max’s wolf, Milo, they were almost the same size. He reared up on his hind legs and lunged at Max.I threw out a ring of fire that trapped three of the charging wolves and pounced on the others. Lia fought several rouges at once, clawing and ripping out throats with ease. I
Chapter 43 – ReturnDiesel’s POVI was seated in the back of the Escalade, looking down at Lucy’s beautiful sleeping face. Her head was resting on my chest and my hand was rubbing circles on her belly. She was always at ease listening to my heart drumming.Dawn was breaking on the horizon. We had about two hours left, and our caravan of black SUV’s made its way towards Dark Moon territory. Max was driving and Payton was sleeping in the front passenger’s seat. My mother was Luna of Dark Moon and was buried there. We held a funeral at Crescent Moon for my father yesterday and he would be buried this afternoon next to my mother at Dark Moon. It’s been three days since the war. Lucy spent the first two days sleeping. Tapping into her full power was exhausting and grief weighed heavy on all of us. Looking down at her face and those full cherry lips, I’m reminded of the first time she took my breath away. The first day I pulled her out of that river after she had escaped from Dark Moon. Now
Two years laterEpilogueThe summer was coming to an end and we were enjoying one last family picnic before the fall weather set in. Crescent point had become one of my favorite spots in the territory. This was the exact spot Diesel brought me to on our first date, when he saw Lia for the first time.Diesel was entertaining our son’s with water using his element. The water flowing from the waterfall was dancing and swirling in the air. The show was wonderful, and the boys were squealing and clapping. Knox was born first, and Peter followed ten minutes later. We named the twins after both of their grandfathers.I sat under the tree with our newest pup at my breast. She was a demanding little thing and needed to be fed on a schedule. Like our boys, baby Raven also had the signature LaRue jet black hair and blue eyes. I looked down to admire her beautiful little face and felt the tingling gaze of my mate on me. I could always feel Diesel’s gaze when he looked at me.Diesel leaned down an
