ROSY I pushed him off and glared at him in disdain, but immediately my hands lost hold of his arm I fell back into the water and started drowning. My body was immersed in the deep pool and even when I raised my hands for help it didn’t pass through the surface of the water. I felt my breath leaving my body as water seeped into my body through every hole in it. I tightened my lips together but began to feel out of breath. I opened my mouth and water gulped into my mouth. My sight became vague as I slowly went deep down into the pool. A hand grasped me and pulled me up to the surface before I drowned in darkness. I gasped for air, clinging to Caleb again. He swept me into his arms and plodded out of the water. He didn’t try to clasp me into his arms or get me upset. Words revolved around me, some out of sympathy and pity, some out of anger and disdain. I curved my hands around his neck, my eyes piercing into his stern face. His dark hair gummed to his forehead and cheeks.
ROSY Evan slammed the tablet on the table, huffing loudly as he paced around with his hand ruffling his hair. “That bastard, I’ll kill him! I swear I’ll kill him!” Evan threatened. My eyes dimmed as the realization of what stirred up his anger hit me. He must have seen the picture of I and Caleb together. I never knew that news travels so fast!! He didn’t notice my presence until he turned and jerked back in fear. “Rosy?” the tone of his voice calmed when he saw me. I swallowed hard and took a few steps before I reached him. His large hands gripped mine as he stared into my blank eyes. “He…he didn’t hurt you, did he?” he stammered, his eyes full of concern. I shook my head. “No, he didn’t.” He sighed in relief and pulled back some tendrils that still stuck to my forehead. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you, I would have insisted on coming with you,” he pouted teasingly. I let out a light smile and caressed his neck. “You don’t have to worry, I’m strong enough t
ROSYVeronica laughed heartily, almost spewing the wine on her body in excitement.“Did you say that to your grandma?” Veronica breathed out when her laughter died down.“Yes, I couldn’t bear to watch her insult Evan,” I muttered, not showing any kind of remorse for my actions earlier.Yes, I don’t need her help. I am going to do everything on my own, she shouldn’t bother trying to help me.Veronica chuckled and dropped the glass, putting on a serious face.“Do you really think that leaving Caleb alive is the perfect decision to make?” I glanced at her and cocked my head, trying to make sense of what she was saying.“Leaving Caleb alive?” I muttered confusedly and faced her, forcing her to look at me too.“What do you mean?” I asked, my breath got rough and unsteady.“Caleb…is guilty too. What if he…” she trailed off when her eyes caught Evan walking into the penthouse.“What? Are you scared to continue?” I mocked, smirking sinisterly.“Why?” she chortled, glancing at the
ROSYI staggered back and the phone fell from my hand and crashed to the ground. My chest constricted as air slowly slipped away from my grasp. I help the drawer behind me to stop me from falling to the ground. “Who could have done this, who?” I muttered and hit my head, to wake up from this lucid dream.I gasped and finally slumped to the ground, gripping my chest. What am I going to do? Who sent this message?Different thoughts and suggestions rolled across my head, almost driving me nuts.Veronica, I should call Veronica.I crawled to where my phone was lying and picked it up, dialing Veronica’s number.“Oh, I’m sorry that I didn’t send a message, I…”“I need your help,” I cut her off before she could begin with her blabbering. She paused before replying, “I hope it’s something that is within my power.”“I got a message from someone, an anonymous message,” I breathed.“Anonymous? Is the message that bad?”“It’s worse than bad.”She gasped.“Have you tried tracing the
CALEB I picked up the cup and smashed it on the wall, growling in anger. My manager shuddered and backed away from me. “How did this happen, huh?” I growled at the poor man. He shook his head, muttering that he knew nothing about the article. Our stock price has plummeted, some of the investors are withdrawing from my company and everything seems to be going bad every hour. Bad comments flood our email and website every minute and my company is getting cyberbullied for some fake news. “Find whoever is responsible for this!” I ordered and he nodded and spun around. “Wait,” I called out and he stopped, holding his breath. “Fix this mess, hold a press conference or anything. I want this fixed.” “Yes, boss,” his shaky voice replied before he scurried away to avoid going down to the fiery pit with my anger. I dialed Mario’s number, pacing around the office as I waited for him to pick me up. “What the hell took you so long to answer your phone!” I snapped at him and he mutt
ROSY “Madam Helen will be out soon, wait for her,” Theresa announced and the sound of her stiletto heels on the floor faded away. I inhaled loudly and crossed my legs, smiling happily as I pulled out my phone and scrolled through the internet. Different articles about Caleb Thompson were all over the internet, profanities were showered on him and his company. His company's stock price has plummeted and some of his investors have withdrawn from his company to mine. He has lost a lot of money and respect just within a few hours of spreading fake news. Though it was all a lie I loved the way it was dragging him to the mud, a mud he wouldn’t be able to come out of so easily. Caleb, this is just the beginning. You shouldn’t have dared to stab me in the back by sending me threatening messages. I will make sure Caleb will go down in a way that he won’t be able to rise like a phoenix ever again. I promised him revenge, and he’s going to get a handful of it. He shouldn’t have d
ROSY I stared unbelievably at him, my heart raced at his diabolic words. “You psychopathic jerk!” I spat out, seething furiously. Caleb chuckled and flew across the road, he didn’t drive, he flew. “Stop! Stop!” I yelled, gasping for breath as I felt my head spin wildly. Thoughts and ideas of how to get out ran around my head, including silly, impossible ideas. Jump through the window, no, smack his head or choke him to death, no! I remembered my phone and glanced at my bag which was lying beside me. How do I get this bag? I’m so scared of letting go of the seat I was sitting on. I prayed for strength and slowly slipped off one of my hands, reaching for my bag. The car jerked to a stop and lurched forward, I gasped and got thrown out of my seat. My forehead met with the back of the driver’s seat and I felt my eyes roll up. “You bastard, crazy bastard,” I muttered under my breath and tried to shake off the dizziness seeping into my head. I heard the door open and
ROSY We rode in the car in silence, and the both of us reminisced on the funny scenes that played out on that cliff. The bastard wants to destroy us too? I shut my eyes and sighed loudly. “I’m sorry,” Caleb muttered. “For blaming you, I should have been wiser,” he added. “Don’t act like you’re the only one who is guilty here,” I responded in a calm voice. Silence fell over us again. From the corner of my eyes, I watched one of his hands drop from the steering wheel and crawl up to where my hand was. I wanted to pull off my hand before his own got to it, but I didn’t, my body didn’t let me take control. His hand covered mine and caressed it, running his fingers against my knuckles. “I’m sorry for repeating the mistake I made five years ago. I let my anger cloud my sense of reasoning, I almost killed the both of us.” My eyes watered and I bit my lips to stop the tears from sprouting out. “Won't you say anything to me?” he asked, he switched his attention from the
