COMPROMISES

There's something wrong with the window, I suddenly notice, the icy snow suddenly taking over the surface is transparent white cracks like and when I lift myself from the bed to inspect it, I realise the ground is saturated with fog.

It's thin, and bubbling, as if it's seeping from beneath the door's bottom filling the room. Panic fills me immediately and I take a step back moving out of it's reach as white wisps like flow upwards towards my hands.

"No, stay away" I tell it, fanning away the small billows that move towards me. Some manage to wrap around my feet and I feel as if the ground has someone become soft and sandy, Pulling me downwards. They continue to wrap, back and forth, hand and waist while I use my other to fan the smokey assailant, it's arms crumbling before reforming once more. I can't scream, voice stuck in my throat, sinking further into the quick sand that has become my room, until I'm fully covered and falling through thick darkness.

I come to a sudden

KAIDMy fingers grip Grayson's biceps feeling a zing of pain that has started to course through me. It cramps my stomach then moves down my legs and I squeeze my eyes shut bearing it. This time it lasts a little longer than it has before. Grayson runs my back in empathy, providing support as I crashed my head against his shoulder. I feel like a bloated elephant, feet swollen at the ankles coupled with the nose of a dog. I've lost my appetite and the only thing I've wanted to do is sleep, but now not even the pain won't grant me repose. "You okay?""Water" I clear my through that's dry as an dessert. "I need water""Okay"He leaves going through the door while I recited a dying prayer."Asleep?" Grayson asks returning. He strokes my hair before his hands move to my cheeks, but I turn my face away from him. Grayson tilts my head, finding the dewy evidence splattered across my cheeks and I feel when his shoulder slump in defeat. He thinks he can't do anything for me.In truth he reall

DEFINDING HOURI was covered in spilt blood, clothes soaked, face spattered and hands that held the dagger so tightly that my knuckles burned at the meeting of flesh and bone, yet still I kept stabbing him. I kept piercing him through and through despite his dying grunts and squeals, even long after his claws stop raking at my thighs to get me off. Kaid lifts himself, a claw across his cheek, covered in gore likewise as as he pulls me off the deap corpse that I was still hacking away at. "It's dead Leila" Another stab. "I said it's dead" Another stab. With a heavy sigh, Kaid pulls me away, wiping the blood from my face as he stares at me. "I doubt he'll ever cross over to the otherside" "I didn't know wherewolves believed in life after death" "They don't, but there must be something other than this messed up life we're living yes?" He asks wiping down my hands likewise. "The general will be proud" He takes my hand, leading me towards the door. I can still hear the rough and tumb

DESTINY'S HAND "Am I losing the baby?"My panicked voice rings around out, Shirley's face gathering palness as if you've powdered the dead, while Grayson has yet to utter a word. He's just kneeeling before me, hands dabbled in the trickle of blood that trails down my thighs. My bottom lip starts to wobble and I know I'm about to break the dam. Their silence was enough. "Gray" I say quietly. "Tell me I'm not losing the baby"No answer comes my way as he just stays there silent in his contemplation. Every inch of it enough to drive me crazy. I needed validation, hope. Anything except the radio silence he left me.In anger, I brushed his hands to the side, pulling down my dress as I crawled away sobbing to myself. This was the only gift I could give to him, the only thing that made us equals. Equal in sacrifices, equal in eagerness to fill the void that wants to consume both of us. I sob to myself and on my own, distraught about the prospects of our future. Without the baby, Grayson won

Winter swiftly comes to an end as the Seer had predicted. Grayson and I have completed most of our preparations to leave, without any bickering at all. He lies behind me, stroking my stomach while his face is pressed into my hair. I sigh, heavenly contented until his malicious fingers move lower and stil lower before disppearing beneath my dress and I grip his hand, turning to look at him. "I'm the one with the crazy hormones, yet you're more horny than I am" "Maybe I know what I want" He answes, his lips titling into a devious smile. "And what is that?" Grayson moves unto his back, pulling me over to straddle him in the process. His hair has grown much longer, and I thread my fingers through it when he pulls me down for a kiss. There are emotions in me, feeling that make me scared to admit. I'm in love with him. In love with a man that chased me from my nightmare into another. I'm in love with a man that saved me. Not from situations but from myself. I'm also afraid to tell him

A shadow moves back and forth above my head and in circles. I know its a bird and when I glance up, it's another hawk, similar to the one I had seen Grayson retrieve the letter from. It's crazy to think even now he hasn't bothered to share what it's about, yet he claims we're both equals. We're equals but he doesn't trust me with whatever it is was in it. I don't know what the birds are for since Ii haven't been privy with werewolves mode of communication, but this time, I would figure it out myself. "Leila! " I hear him calling but still hurry towards the woods, searching above my head for the direction the bird had flown off to. I spy it's wings dive west and follow, through a rather rocky terrain with vines and thorns as I hurry, hearing Grayson still calling for me. "What's wrong?" Grayson calls. My mouth opens to answer, but I bite back my words realising that would only alert him to my location and I couldn't have that. I hurry through the low spread of leaves, large and smal

DON'T BE A RUMPLESTILKIN My eyes fly open tensing beneath the intimate yet delicate touches of his tongue against flesh that knew not this type of attention. It's foreign yet sensual, catastropic because his determination will end both of us. Tiny nips sends the stars and moon spiraling arcoss my vision and I grip the bed beneath me, needing something to ground me to some form of physicality. My hips move instinctive towards him, his hand wrapping tighter around me to keep me in place.Words garbled in my mouth, backed up in my throat by his consistent torture. How had I not known he was able to do this all along?? No, I was barely holding on by a thread as it was much more to have been at his constant mercy. "Gray....gray" I fought to catch my breath, squirming and twisting, my nails finding his shoulder, digging into them with every fervor of his assault.A scream suddenly slips past my lips, my hands quicker than my thoughts, slaps across my mouth to force them once again down my

GRAYSON"You need to ensure that you're eating properly" A female voice says to Leila.Their both outside sharing a quiet moment, though the intruder is unaware of my prying eyes or presence. It's probably the reason why Leila was this comfortable, all tensness gone from her shoulders."I am, but really, there's no need to check up on me everyday""It's the only way I'll know if you're both doing well""There's still a few more months to go" Leila rubs her bump proudly. "It's not like I'm going to run away""I wouldn't know" The human female responds her voice flat. "This is my only insurance"I walk back out the house towards where Leila sits, holding out my hand for her. A small smile and she takes my hand without fuss, which is odd even for her. Ever since that accident she's been pliant. I know she wants me to say what happened, but the last thing I want her is distressed when she's this close to delivering our child.I fought rogues that night, more than there usually are. Almost

GRAYSON SECRETS I can't hide the disgust I feel towards the camp I've left only a few moons ago. There are barely any Sentiels about, no one guarding the paths that led to or from; lowly Omegas roaming about as if they've got nothing to do. I don't have the time to attend to the matter, if Killian makes it to Leila first, it's all over. I hurry inside the pack house, memories flooding back to the night when I first met Leila. The shock and indifference that reigned on her face. It's not the same like what I've seen from other human females. Most of them terrified, fleeing from my presence, others keep their head buried in the ground, almost literally. Not Leila. Leila looked me dead in the eye and told me she didn't like me. I remember chuckling, the small action surprises me even now. That small nudge that created the domino effect to what we are now. Blaze's office is empty, a first otherwise from when he's been f**king, that scent from Daina's room heavily penerating the atmo

BONDS TRIUMPH ANY TRIAL The worst thing about starting a revolution is that you have to see it through. I'm starting not to like that idea. Mostly because I'm stuck inside alone- well not necessarily all by myself but those that support me, cannot attend to my needs. And by needs, you know what I mean. No, not sex. Get your head out of the gutters.I meant conversation, cuddles, and late-night plays.I was part of the front line too, but then I was physically and forcefully removed without choice or option; because we found out an important matter. Only I knew first this time but kept it hidden. For good reason. This eventuality.I sigh once more palming my stomach. Grayson has been gone for three weeks. He's taken my women, his men, frankly anything that would remind me of what's going on outside those gates. So many more humans have joined our cause to live freely and have freedom. And we have spread like a wildfire, expanding our borders in even spaces I didn't think possible. We

HE'S NOT THE ALPHA Darnick is compliant with his decision to return, which only leaves Rasmus and me as the only jittery pawns on his chess board. This uninformed selfish decision of my father will run everything we've worked for into the ground and when Leila gets wind of this, it will be nothing short of a fuse explosion. "When are we leaving?" "At a convenient time for all of us," Xavier answers as if we're talking about abandoning cattle. That these weren't people with lives. Lives that were depending on us to protect them. "When was this decision made? ""Does it matter when it was made? My decision is final.""We're leaving them to die. It's a suicide mission. " I clarify just in case he was too blind to the reality of the situation at hand. "Commander Lyra has the know-how to navigate even the toughest of circumstances. "You allowed your emotions to get the best of you and now he's out for blood. ""I know. He'll want my head for this." She paces around her room rubbing her arms as if exposed to the cold. "I just, it felt too much. After I thought we lost them all. I mourned them, Grayson." Leila's dark eyes meet mine confusion swirling in the midst as she gazes up at me. "How are they still alive, it's not possible? Why wasn't everyone else saved? If he's so strong why isn't everyone still alive? Marie, Louis, and his family. "Leila's body trembles as she breaks into tears once more, her emotions overriding the restraint she had built up now bursting at the seams. "It doesn't matter. They're here and alive. ""Except it does. How can I tell the part of me that's been hollow for months now that it was all a

A PACK LOST A PACK GAINED I was on the outside surveying our space to plant more food and possibly rear a few animals. It's been a rough couple of months and my arm heals at snails pace. The wolves are still gathered around the periphery of the fortress, steadfast and unmoving since Grayson hasn't lifted his command. Hadn't we had them, perhaps Phineas' attempts to destroy us would have succeeded at his first crack.A hand reaches around, blocking my view and I attempt to back away, ducking beneath in the process, only to be enclosed in hard flesh and bones. "Morning," He growls at my ear ."It's afternoon," I correct."Still early," he rasps at my ear, back pedaling both of us in the process."Where are you taking me?" I question the oaf."You'll see soon enough.""I have work to do," I argue."You're always working," His reply comes, feet still walking blindly and his breath warm a constant against my cheek."Do you even know where you're going?" I enquire not liking the fact that

My chest and cheeks hurt like fudge sticks, my shoulders are sore, but my head felt as if I'd hit it against the column, knocking myself out for half my lifetime. My body was heavy as lead, even though I was only seated upright."I wouldn't advise moving as yet, Luna. You took quite a nasty beating and the medicine still needs time to circulate.""Impeccable timing," I told him, my voice croaking as that of a hoarse frog, my eyes quickly sweeping the room. It wasn't mine, but from the nonexistent accolades, I knew this was Grayson's plain room. I could almost chuckle thinking of how filled this room will easily become with Tyler's drawings over the years. That is if he intended on staying here. Fear seized my chest and I clutched at it, telling myself I'm only overreacting. Where else would he seek to go?"Where's Grayson?""The Alpha is currently being looked after." DAINA ALL MEN MUST SERVE Inside was just boring and mourful. All everyone bickered about was the war and how things should have been different. They lamented about losing people and about not being prepared more. All it did was agitate me. It was the past, it was said and done and cannot be changed. I desperately wanted to scream at them to just shut up and move on with their lives. Focus on freaking surviving. What else could we do at this point?Glancing around the blackened room and finding the newly acquired Alphas only made my mouth more sour. Six people from two entire packs survived that freaking attack. What kind of monster army did Alpha Phineas have to have subdued them like that? His Luna had been such a simple girl when we met last. I supoose that's the reason behind her apparent simpleton behavior. Her Alpha was terrifying.I push to leave the suffocating atmosphere of the dead and dying, a human warrior shifting into my path and blocking my way."Sorry," He says voice

GRAYSON ALPHA COMMAND That bastard Phineas, I bet he had timed Leila just right to have cornered her inside her room. I had every intent on ripping his head from his shoulders, but the damned ass had escaped rolling over the window and scampering down the wall with his tail between his legs.I huff, watching as he scurried away, a f*king cheeky smile on his face, echoing the words of his return. I can't stay furious, turning to find Leila unmoving, my worst fears manifesting seeing how beaten up she was.My teeth screech on edge, Phineas now making himself my number one enemy. Known to him, I promised death to whoever touched Leila and my wrath knew no bounds or creed. My body bows with stress, kneeling before the blood that heats my veins. Leila cries out from pain that strikes my soul, her entire being trembling as I took her into my arms. Her lips bleed, bruises lining her forehead and arms. That son of a bitch!"I'm going to die, I'm going to die," Leila whispers, her words mir

SACRIFICES ***WARNING: May contain triggers. Our walk to the fortress takes days when in reality it should've only been a few hours. With the massive injuries that our group had sustained, we were left to creep as old men, creating shelters and entertaining others from dwelling on the reality of our condition. Tyler sticks on my heels aiding me to gather as much fruits as possible. A few murmur about having only that to eat, but I turn my ears and bite my tongue. What did they want me to do, hunt a boar? They weren't Tyler and I was never asking Grayson to go find one either. Everyone had to learn to live within their means and accept the case for what it is. If we send enough abled out people out and they were attacked, any hopes of us rebuilding would be smashed against the rocks. I glance at the sky a little perturbed about the overcast weather, but think better of it when I glanced back at the ailing pack. Maybe it was best that we didn't rush them. Tyler tightly grips my arm u

BLEEDING HEART "Leila, you cant afford to have your emotions control you," Gerzi scolds or maybe it's sturdy advice. My entire body trembles at the thoughts of the many people we've lost. The glossy eyes that stare back at me- us by extension. The many children lost, the parents that are beside themselves in agony. Too traumatized to even utter a word. The carnage of Trish's body flashing before my eyes forcing me into a mental hell I wanted not. I paused my steps, closing my eyes as I grit my teeth through the pain. I didn't want to loose anymore people to this. I couldn't!War has places us all on the same ranking. We were all vulnerable and helpless. Dependent on each other for growth, stability and strength. We were as weak as the smallest one among us. It shed light on our shortcomings. The distrust and lingering desparities between us. There were no lines today in that attack. We were all preys."There's a large cave nestled in some rocks ay the edge," Gerzi directs. "Just ke
