Alex's P. O. V. " Hello, Alex... Missed me?" She asked, walking closer. " Wha... What are you doing here?" I asked, shocked beyond words. " This is my home. Can't I be here? " She asked. " No... " I stopped, palming my forehead. Taking in a deep breath, I continued. " What do you want?" " Nothing. Just wanted to see you. I've missed you. " She replied. I made to speak but clamped my mouth shut. There was nothing to say to her. "So..." She began, walking even closer. " I heard you went overseas to study. How was it?" " Fine. " I muttered my gaze on her. She nodded, smiling coyly. " Getting back with Sylvia?" She asked and I tensed. " None of your business. " I muttered, my voice harsher than I had intended. " Of course, it's none of my business... Until you see this." She announced and snapped her fingers. Someone walked in with a laptop and placed it in front of me. " What is this?" I asked, glancing at the closed laptop in front of
Sylvia's P. O. V " What did you say?" I asked, but it came as a whisper. He tensed, rubbing his neck. "I-i'm really sorry Sylvia but I have to do this." He muttered, his eyes pleading. I desperately tried to understand why he was doing it but nothing came. " Why? What for? " I asked but was met with silence." Answer me!" When no words came out of his mouth, I turned to Tasha. " Does this have anything to do with you? Are you behind this?!" " Oh come on... " She drawled, rolling her eyes. " You heard the guy. He wants to break up with you. Just leave already. " She muttered with disdain. " Alex..." I called again, my voice breaking and my eyes brimming with tears. " I'm sorry. I'm very sorry..." He whispered. Tears slipped out my eyes but I quickly cleaned it off. I can't cry here. Shuddering, I took in a deep breath, running out of the apartment, followed by Alex's calls that I paid no heed to. I should've known....
Sylvia's P. O. V Later that night, I decided to call Alex. Picking up my phone, I mailed his number but he didn't go through. Eventually, it just said switched off. " Now he's not picking up," I muttered, running a hand through my hair. My lips trembling, I blinked back tears. Is it really over? I couldn't keep the hurt in as tears kept slipping out and I almost started crying when my phone rang again. Thinking it was Alex, I hurriedly picked it up. It wasn't. It was Olivia. I shuddered, reluctantly picking it up.“ Hey... I muttered, my voice hoarse.”“ Hi Sylvia... Why do you sound like that?”“ Nothing, I'm fine. How are you?”“ Now that's a lie. What's wrong?” I sighed, taking in a deep breath.“ Alex broke up with me.”“ He did... WHAT!?”“ Yes. He.. he broke up with me today.”“ Oh my gosh! Are you okay?”“ I will be... Eventually.”“ Why would he do such a thing? She asked, her voice angry.”“ I don't know... I only know that he's with Tasha.”“ Wait... Who's Tasha?
Alex's P. O. V I couldn't concentrate at work. My thoughts kept running around, looking for a way to get out of the mess I found myself in. I need to find a way out of this... And I need to do it now. Eventually an idea sprang up and I stood up, searching my office. Eventually I found the book I was looking for and walked out of the office, heading towards the restroom. I saw someone come out of the restroom and I bumped into him, making it look like an accident. " I'm so sorry...." I muttered as I straightened up, taking his phone in the process. " No it's okay." He replied. " I hope you aren't hurt?" " Of course not..." He muttered, chuckling. " That's a relief. Excuse me but I have to go now." I said, walking into the restroom. Locking myself up in one of the stalls, I searched out Patrick's number and proceeded to call him. It took a while because it kept ringing. " Come on... Pick up." I murmured. ... (New Orleans) Patrick's P. O. V I was busy at work with Skyler
. Sylvia's P. O. V We arrived at Skyler's place moments later. Walking into her apartment, she gestured is to the living room while she offered to bring us a glass of water. I sat, resting my tired limbs. Today has been a long day. Placing the glass of water in front of us, she went to sit opposite us. " Thanks." I muttered before gulping my water down. " You're welcome." She replied, smiling lightly. I returned it, returning the cup. " So..." She began, rubbing her palms together. " What's happening?" " Tasha is back." I replied despondently. Skyler furrowed her brows. " Tasha? Who's Tasha?" She asked. " She's Alex's ex." Patrick offered. " They dated sometime in highschool and when he broke up with her, she left to God knows where. Now she's back and she came with hell." " Wow.... That's bad." Skyler muttered. " It will get worse. She tried to kill me on my way out and now that am gone, only God knows what she'll do." I added. " Does the police know about this? " She ask
Skyler's P. O. V " What are you doing?" Sylvia asked when I took my phone. " Oh... I've finally remembered the person who can help us with an investigator." I replied, scrolling through my phone. " She's an investigator?" " No. Her friend is. Her name's Ariana." I said and she nodded, eating her pizza. Looking for and finding her number, I proceeded to call her. It took some time but she eventually picked up. " Hello... Who's this? " Ariana's voice filtered through. " Hi Ari. This is Skyler. Skyler James, you remember me right?" I said and the line fell silent. Eventually I heard a clicking of fingers and a chuckle. " Oh Sky... How are you?" She asked, her voice cheery as usual. I grinned. " I'm great. What about you?" " Wonderful. Why'd you call?" " Uhmm... A friend of mine is in crisis and she needs your friends help. Your detective friend, what's her name again? " " Natalie." " Yeah. That's right. We really need her help." " What sort of crisis exactly." " A... Rea
Skyler's P. O. V " Hello there. I'm Natalie. Natalie Maddox. " She said, shaking my hands. I smiled, releasing it. " Hi, Natalie," I said and she grinned. " Just call me Natty. " " Oh... Right. Just call me Sky then." I said and we chuckled. I instantly liked her. Sobering up, she continued talking. " You said you needed a detective?" " Oh no, I don't. She does." I said, glancing at Sylvia who waved. " Hello, I'm Sylvia." " Hi, Sylvia. Nice to see you." " Who's he? " Ariana piped up, pointing at Patrick. " Your boyfriend?" " Ariana!" Natalie muttered, giving her a disapproving look. I breathed in, smiling nervously. " No. He's my boss." I replied. " His name is Patrick." " Then... What's he doing here then?" Ariana asked, her gaze moving from me to him. " She forgot to mention that I'm also a friend of theirs," Patrick Spoke up, " Oh... That makes sense then." Ariana mumbled. "Now that the introductions have been done, can someone please tell me what the problem is?
(Next day) Patrick's P. O. V I was dressing up for work when I heard my phone ring. Picking it up, I didn't bother to check who was called when I picked it up. " Hello, who's this?" I said into the phone, adjusting my tie. " It's Alex." His low voice filtered through. " Hey man, how are you? We've been worried about you." " I'm fine but I really don't have time to talk. How's Sylvia? " " She's fine. " I replied, picking up my car keys and heading out. " Can I talk to her?" " You're going to have to call me later for that, I'm no where near her. " Stopping for a second, I continued. " Why do you sound so tensed?" " Because, I'm not supposed to be calling you in the first place. I'm still at home and only God knows if Tasha's listening in. " He muttered, his voice thick with anger. I shrugged. " Okay, why don't you call in he evening? I'll be with Sylvia then and you can talk to her. " " Okay. Thanks man. " " You're welcome. " " Bye now. "He said and hung up. I placed th
