A Voice from the Edge

As Bella was just about to Jump off the cliff, her phone, dangling dangerously from the side of her purse, buzzed loudly.

Bella starred at the abyss, tears blurred her vision as she contemplated if she should pick the call or not. She ignored it at first, but as the ringing continued, she reached out and grabbed the phone angrily with the intention of tossing it into the valley. But the sight of the caller ID stopped her.

For a split second, she hesitated, then answered, figuring there was no harm in taking a call right before... well, before jumping.

“Hello?” Bella's voice was shaky, her breath coming in short bursts.

On the other end, a deep, calm voice responded, "I’m Davis. The one who broke into your house yesterday.”

Bella froze. Her blood ran cold as her heart skipped a beat. DAVIS? That name alone was enough to send shivers down her spine, but what he said next stopped her in her tracks.

“I’m with Ramsey,” Davis continued, his voice steady but urgent. “I need you to pret
