🌸Eden🌸
I woke up early, still feeling out of place in the penthouse. Everything that happened the night before was a blur, but I knew I needed to do something to feel in control again.
My stomach growled, reminding me I hadn’t eaten properly. I looked around and, on a whim, decided to make breakfast. It was something small I could do for myself.
I slipped into the dress Mia had left for me and walked to the kitchen. The staff was quietly moving around, getting things ready for the day. One of the kitchen staff noticed me and asked, “Good morning, Miss. Can I help you with anything?”
I smiled slightly and shook my head. “I’m going to make breakfast. It’s okay, I’ll do it.”
She seemed unsure but nodded. “Okay, if you need anything, let us know.”
I started gathering ingredients: eggs, vegetables, and herbs. Cooking always made me feel better, so I focused on the task. The sound of eggs sizzling and bread toasting helped calm my mind.
Once everything was ready, I plated the food and put it on the table. The staff came to take the dishes, but I stopped them. “I’ll keep it for now,” I said. I needed this little moment of normal life.
As soon as I finished everything, my phone rang. It was Liam.
“Where are you?” he asked, his voice sounding concerned. “Jessica said you didn’t sleep at home last night.”
I couldn’t help the bitterness that surged inside me. Why do you care?
I didn’t wait for him to finish his sentence. I just hung up. The sound of the call ending was oddly satisfying.
“Good morning.”
I turned to see Finn.
“Good morning,” I replied softly, gesturing to the table. “I made breakfast.”
“You didn’t have to,” he said, walking closer and glancing at the food.
“I wanted to,” I said, brushing off his words. “It’s nothing fancy, just something simple.”
He picked up a fork and took a bite of the scrambled eggs. He paused for a moment, his expression unreadable.
“Wow,” he finally said, looking at me with a surprised smile. “This is really good.”
His reaction caught me off guard, and I felt a small sense of pride bloom in my chest.
“I used to cook a lot,” I said quietly, taking a seat across from him.
“Well, you’re clearly great at it,” he said, taking another bite. “You could open a restaurant with skills like this.”
I smiled faintly, not wanting to explain how cooking had been a dream Liam never let me chase. Finn didn’t need to know that yet.
“I actually attended culinary school,” I admitted after a moment, my fingers lightly brushing the edge of my cup. “I didn’t finish, though.”
Finn raised an eyebrow, his curiosity evident. “Why not?”
I hesitated, feeling the familiar lump in my throat. “Umm… personal reasons,” I said, keeping my tone light, hoping he wouldn’t push further.
He studied me for a moment but didn’t press. Instead, he leaned back in his chair, nodding slowly. “Well, that’s a shame. You’ve got real talent.”
“Thank you,” I murmured, my gaze lowering to my plate.
“Do you ever think about going back to it?” he asked, his voice casual but genuinely interested.
The question hung in the air, and for a second, I considered telling him the truth. That it wasn’t my choice to leave. That someone else had decided my dreams weren’t worth pursuing…and I foolishly let him
But instead, I forced a small smile and said, “Maybe one day.”Finn didn’t say anything, but his eyes lingered on me for a moment longer before he returned to his food.
We ate mostly in silence after that, the sound of cutlery against plates filling the space. Despite the quiet, it wasn’t uncomfortable. For the first time in a long time, I felt a sense of ease, even if just for a little while.
When breakfast was over, Finn stood and stretched. “Thanks for this. You really didn’t have to, but I’m glad you did.”
“You’re welcome,” I replied, starting to clear the table.
“Leave it,” he said, waving a hand. “The staff will take care of it.”
I hesitated but eventually nodded, stepping back as one of the staff members began clearing the dishes.
Finn glanced at his watch. “I’ve got some meetings to attend, but make yourself at home. If you need anything, just let Mia know.”
“Okay,” I said softly.
As he walked toward the door, he paused and looked back. “And, Eden…”
“Yes?”
His expression softened. “Whatever those personal reasons were, I hope you find a way back to what makes you happy.”
The words caught me off guard, and I could only nod as he left. The sound of the door closing echoed in the quiet room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
Whatever makes me happy? I hadn’t thought about that in so long. Maybe it was time I started.
As the door clicked shut behind Finn, I found myself sinking deeper into the chair. His words lingered in my mind. Find a way back to what makes you happy.
Why did he care? Why was he being so kind?
It didn’t make sense. He barely knew me, yet he’d given me shelter, food, and now, a strange sense of peace I hadn’t felt in years.
Who was he, really?
Curiosity tugged at me, and before I knew it, I had my phone in hand. My fingers hovered over the screen for a moment before I typed his name: Finn Rowan.
The search results loaded, and the moment I saw his face plastered across headlines, my breath hitched.
“Billionaire Tech Mogul: Inside the Life of Finn Rowan.”
“Finn Rowan, the Man Behind Rowan Real Estate.” “Finn Rowan and Nalani Caspian : Divorced!I froze, rereading the last headline. My heart began to race.
No wonder he looked so familiar. I’d seen his face before—when I was digging into Nalani’s life. I just hadn’t paid enough attention at the time. Back then, all I cared about was finding out what kind of woman she was, the woman Liam had chosen over me. Finn had been just another detail in the background of her story.
But now, he was standing in the foreground of mine.
I stared at the screen, my mind reeling.
Nalani Caspian.
It felt like a punch to the gut. The stranger who had offered me kindness, a place to stay, and unexpected warmth, was none other than Nalani’s ex-husband.
I stared at the screen, my mind reeling. How could I not have known? How had I ended up here, in his home, of all places?
But the bigger question burned at the back of my mind:
How could Nalani leave a sweet man like this… for someone else’s husband?
🌸Eden🌸It was funny, in a strange, twisted way. Finn and I had something in common—our exes were getting married. But I didn’t dwell on that thought for long. Instead, I focused on what I could do now. Finn had done so much for me, and though I couldn’t repay him fully, I wanted to at least do something small.Cooking. That’s what I could do.After some thought, I decided on Philly cheesesteak. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was hearty, and I could put my heart into making it. The kitchen became my escape as I chopped, grilled, and layered everything carefully. When Finn came back, his expression shifted when he saw the table set and the food waiting for him.“You cooked?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.I nodded, wiping my hands on a dish towel. “It’s nothing much. I just thought you might like something warm.”A smile tugged at his lips, softening the sharpness of his features. “Thanks, Eden. It looks great.”I watched him take the first bite, his face unreadable at first. Then h
🌸Eden🌸He didn’t need to ask any questions; the screen said it all. His face hardened as he looked at the headline and the smiling couple. For a moment, he didn’t speak, his grip on the phone turning white-knuckled. Then he placed it gently on the table and crouched in front of me.“Eden,” he said, softly , if this is what I think it is, then it isn’t worth your tears. He isn’t worth your tears.”I let out a bitter laugh, shaking my head. “It’s not just him, Finn. It’s everything. He destroyed my life. I thought I was getting better, but seeing this… It’s like I’m back at square one. I can’t move on.His face fell. “That man doesn’t deserve another second of your pain.” His voice was calm.I sniffled, my shoulders trembling. “I don’t know how to stop, Finn. I don’t know how to stop feeling like this.”He hesitated for a moment, then did something I didn’t expect—he reached out and gently took my hands in his. His touch was warm, grounding, as if he were trying to anchor me in the ch
🌸Liam🌸Liam's thoughts raced. The call earlier wouldn’t leave his mind. A man had answered Eden’s phone. A man. He clenched his fists, trying to push the anger away. Who was he? He couldn’t believe Eden had already moved on, and with someone else. Just days after their divorce. He shook his head, a bitter smile forming on his lips. “So much for grieving,” he muttered under his breath.Nalani had insisted they move into her house, calling his old place too small. He hadn’t argued. It wasn’t like he had fond memories of it. That house reminded him of a past he wanted to forget—a past with Eden. She had been a mistake to him. A secret mistake, at least. Nobody important ever knew they were married. And now, seeing her with someone else, hearing another man answer her phone, it all felt… wrong. Not because he cared, of course. To him, he was better off without her. But still, something about it didn’t sit right.Eden, with another man? Already? He scoffed at the thought. “I guess people
🌸Eden🌸I sat in the dining room, staring at the untouched anniversary cake on the table. My heart sanked as I gripped the edge of the table, my hands trembling. My husband sat across from me, silent and calm, as if the words he’d just spoken meant nothing. But to me, they shattered everything. My eyes fell on the knife next to the cake, my heart pounded as I slowly reached for it, my breathing uneven.“Eden,” Liam’s voice broke the silence, firm and cold.I froze, my hand hovering over the knife. His sharp gaze bore into me, heavy and full of warning.“What are you doing?” he asked, his tone sharp as he stood and started walking toward me.I didn’t answer. My fingers brushed the knife, but before I could grab it, his hand shot out and grabbed my wrist.“Stop this,” he said, his voice low but firm.“Let me go,” I whispered, trying to pull my arm free.He didn’t release me. “Eden!” His voice rose, but I shoved him back with all the strength I had. The knife clattered to the floor as I
🌸Eden🌸I recalled his words that night. It wasn’t something I expected, not after how sweet he had been to me recently, especially after being so distant for so long.“I’m sorry, but this is what needs to be done,” he said, his voice calm, almost emotionless. “I’m in love with Nalani. I shouldn’t have married you. Her father ….he’s the most influential man In the country currently. He can take me places—make me the man I want to be. It was a mistake.”A mistake.Five years of my life. Five years of loving him, sacrificing for him, believing in him—it was all a mistake? The words cut deeper than any knife ever could.I met Liam Monroe in the most unexpected way. I was rushing across the street near my culinary school, my arms full of books and dreams, when his sleek black car screeched to a stop, just inches from me. The sound of the tires and my sharp gasp marked the beginning of everything.Liam stepped out of the car, looking both apologetic and in control. He was young, handsom
🌸Eden🌸“To deliver this.”She reached into her designer bag and pulled out an envelope. I was anxious as she placed it on the coffee table, right next to the divorce papers. I didn’t need to open it to know what it was—a check. One hundred thousand dollars. My stomach twisted.“Sign the papers, Eden,” she said, her voice smooth but sharp. “And the money is yours.”I stared at the check, disbelief and anger boiling inside me. “This has to be some kind of joke.”“It’s not.” Nalani walked over to the couch, sitting on the armrest like she owned the place. Her eyes scanned the room as if she were inspecting her property. “You’ve had your time with him. But Liam and I… we belong together. Always have.”I let out a bitter laugh. “Belong together? Is that what you think?”“Yes.” She leaned forward slightly, her voice soft but dripping with arrogance. “Liam met me long before he met you. We dated in high school. Life pulled us apart, but now I’m back. Sure, my first marriage didn’t work out
🌸Eden🌸“Did my husband tell you I’m carrying his child too?”Nalani froze, her confident expression faltering for just a second. I could tell she hadn’t expected that. It was clear—Liam hadn’t told her about the baby. She quickly recovered, though, and reached into her bag, pulling out another check. “You can choose to keep the baby, or get rid of it,” she said coolly, holding the check up for me to see. “But trust me… you won’t come between Liam and me.”I turned my gaze to Liam, who sat there, speechless, not a word escaping his lips. He looked like an obedient puppy, unwilling to step into the chaos he’d created….“Liam,” I said, my voice trembling with hurt, “she wants me to get rid of our baby—the baby we’ve always wanted.” Tears welled up in my eyes, streaming down my face as the weight of everything hit me all at once. “I’m done with this humiliation.
