Alpha Lake had seen how his guard had treated Audrey, and what he was planning to do to her, he had been standing by the door for some time, watching how Audrey tried to fight her way out with the guards as she struggled with them.
Normally, he did not let anyone maltreat his servants, it was not allowed, unless, it was himself, or he ordered it. But he had kept mute because, it was Audrey after all, the person he hated the most, but then, why did he get angry when he heard what his guard had suggested? It was probably because he was not the one who gave the order, he was an Alpha, the strongest one alive, and he did not like it when people acted without his command.“Yes, Alpha.” The guards replied and left the dungeon. It was just Audrey and the furious Alpha that was left in the cold dungeon.“I didn’t do it.” Audrey managed to whisper. She was surprised at how her day ended, how was she unaware that she had stolen twenty bunches of grapes? And now, she had successfully landed herself a night in the dungeon because of a crime she probably committed while sleepwalking or something like that. Her life in the Grey Blood Pack was full of surprise eggs; each day hatched into a new torturous adventure for her.“You've got gut, little bitch." Alpha Lake walked dangerously slow around her like a predator circling his prey. Her heart was beating erratically, fearing what next he could do to her.He came to stop in front of her, the bright light illuminating her tear-stained face and blushed cheeks. He harshly held her jaw between his thumb and index finger, forcing her face up to look at him. She squinted her eyes from the bright light above, her hands had become numb from the pain of being chained for a long time, and her body shook from pain and discomfort. He knew it; this was her way of taunting him so he would release Audrey. She had promised to 'come' with breakfast and not to come and 'make' it. He did not like what they made from the Pack's kitchen, he needed to eat something made from his menu, and nothing else.Cara? She knew he disliked her personality, and that was why she purposely mentioned her to him.“Fucking bitch!”He angrily stood up, the chair falling back from the sudden collision with the back of his leg. He hated her, he wanted her gone from his sight, his life. Even locked up, she was still causing trouble for him.He suddenly thought of what his beta had said earlier.‘Why not send her away from the pack since she causes you so much trouble, Alpha.’Maybe it was time he did it. He knew keeping her close and making her do all sorts of work and punishments were never going to bring back his dead mother, it was time he sent her away from his pack. She did not deserve to be here. She was wolf-less and useless, he did not care what happened to her after she left his pack, he did not care if she died or lived.“Alpha, Alpha Sebastian of the White Moon pack is here,” Andrew informed, standing in front of Alpha Lake's desk.“Let him in.” He replied without looking up from the report he was reading.“Yes, Alpha.”Andrew bowed his head and left.A few seconds later, the door was opened, and a handsome man in a white t-shirt and army-green combat trousers walked into the office, his long hair packed in a neat low bun. He lowered himself to the seat opposite Alpha Lake's table.“Did I ask you to sit, Sebastian?” He asked, raising his head from the report.“Oh? I missed you too, my dearest friend.” Alpha Sebastian flashed him a wide smile. Alpha Lake scoffed, he expected that from him. They have known each other since childhood, they were like brothers but Alpha Sebastian was more like the senseless and annoying sibling. He was not in the mood for his shenanigans.“What do you want?” He asked coldly, folding his hands on his chest and relaxing back in his chair.“Oh, dear Moon goddess!” Alpha Sebastian facepalmed, shaking his head in dissatisfaction.“You've been mate-less for so long, you no longer care about the upcoming full moon.” Alpha Sebastian sighed. He knew his friend could be nonchalantly cold about things, but how could he forget? The full moon had always been held in his Pack!“Well, that’s why I have you, right? Like an annoying reminder, now speak. I don't have all day."Alpha Sebastian chuckled. His friend never failed to surprise him.“I know you’re the strongest Alpha alive, my dear friend, but could you show a little respect here? I’m an Alpha too. Not some servant of yours.” Alpha Sebastian whined like a kid. But He knew that was the way AlphaLake talked to people he cared about, he just loved to pull his legs, anything to get a reaction out of that stoic face.Alpha Lake sighed, picked up the Pack report, and resumed reading it. He was not going to indulge this madman in front of him.“Hey, hey, hey. Don’t ignore me. Fine, I’ll tell you. Spoilsport!” Alpha Sebastian muttered the last part to himself.“I heard that.”“I’ll be worried if you don't. Alpha.” Alpha Sebastian sat up in the chair, his expression turning serious as well. “The full moon is in two months. You have the largest pack.” He paused, waiting to see if Alpha Lake caught what he was trying to say.“So?” Alpha Lake asked impatiently.Alpha Sebastian sighed, guess he had to spell it word for word.“An email was sent to you yesterday. Your Pack has been chosen to hold the full moon ceremony for this year...again.” He crossed his legs, drumming his fingers on his lap. Alpha Lake frowned a bit. Yesterday, he had been too angry to check his emails. That foolish girl always managed to destabilize his day. He forced the thought of her out of his head, he did not want to remember something as worthless and as stupid as that wolf-less female.“Okay.” Came his short reply. He picked up his phone from the table and started typing into it.He knew this was coming but he just needed to hear him say it. He already had pending plans, all he needed was to give a go-ahead order and everything would be ready.“Umm, what are you doing?” Alpha Sebastian was confused, he had just informed him that the full moon was to be held in his Pack, and all could say was 'Okay?’ and he even went ahead to scroll through his phone like he wasn't there. He thought he would at least talk more about it or ask about the preparations.“Making arrangements for the upcoming full moon.” Alpha Lake answered and continued typing.“Done.” He took out his phone and smirked at Alpha Sebastian.Alpha Sebastian scoffed, he should have known.“Always one step ahead, right?”“Yes. That is what being Alpha is all about. Always one step ahead. Learn from me kiddo, it’ll do you some good.”“You!” Alpha Sebastian stood from his seat and held Alpha Lake on his shirt. He was about to punch his face when the office door suddenly opened.“Still fighting like kids,” Ms. Bridget stood in front of the door, her hands placed together on her midsection with a doting motherly smile on her face.Alpha Sebastian immediately stood straight, putting his clothes right, he turned to Ms. Bridget, pouting like a kid.“It was him, Nana. He bullied me…again.” He walked over to her with slouched shoulders and threw himself into her arms. She hugged him to herself, patting and rubbing his back like she would do to a child. Alpha Lake just sat there, a smirk on his face.He knew Ms. Bridget did not believe him, everyone knew he was the mischievous one. He stood from his chair and went to them, tearing Alpha Sebastian away from her.“Grow up, you’re an Alpha now.” He said coldly and walked past them.“Let’s go, Alpha. The launch is ready.”“Yay!” He held her hands and followed her excitedly.Alpha Lake went into his home and paused. Something was not right. He looked over at his window and saw the wilted lavender flowers. No wonder, the scent was no longer as strong as it used to be, and no wonder he didn’t feel relaxed as he entered his living room.He had become accustomed to the relaxing scent of the lavender flower, it helped reduce his stress by fifty percent.“That wretched girl.” He muttered as he went over to his dining and sat down.He never asked her to start placing flowers in his house, now that he thought of it, who had permitted her to bring flowers into his house? His anger toward Audrey just kept multiplying. He was also angry for allowing himself to get accustomed to the damn flower scent. He never wanted to like anything that came from her. She was his arch-nemesis.He made up his mind, he was going to send her away, just like his beta had suggested. He had to do it before the full moon, if he was going to find his mate this season, then he would not want her around. He wanted a fresh start without someone or something reminding him of his painful past.“Oh great! I smell fried steak. My favorite!” Alpha Lake gritted his teeth, irritation evident on his face.“Why did you bring him here?” He asked Ms. Bridget who was dragging out a seat opposite him for Alpha Sebastian to sit.“He was hungry.” She said simply.“I don’t care, leave.” He looked at Alpha Sebastian, to make sure he understood the he was referring to him. “Nana! He’s doing it again.” He looked up at Ms. Bridget, pretending to be sad.She wished Alpha Sebastian would take Audrey away. The poor girl deserves a normal life filled with love and care, which were all absent in her life at the moment.“Who did this!” Alpha Lake barked at the two guards standing in front of the dungeon door. Rage filled him as he saw the blood-drained girl lying on the floor, looking all pale and dying. His wolf, Regal, sensed a very faint heartbeat from her, and for the first time, it became crazy, restless, and angry. He did not understand why his wolf was feeling that way toward Audrey, but it affected him too. Whatever his wolf felt, he felt too. They were one. He got more irritated as his wolf became more restless. He was angry at Regal for making him want to know who did that to Audrey and why. Left for him, he would care less about her.“You will answer me.” His eyes glazed over, and his wolf pushed forward, using their Alpha command on the two guards.“We do not know, Alpha. We were drugged.” They answered in a somewhat hypnot
'We’re safe now.' Audrey heard the first voice again. She thought it was her mind playing tricks on her because she was dying, but she heard it in her mind, loud and clear. She carefully sat up from the floor. She looked at herself and saw how heavy her clothes were soaked in blood.“What's happening?" She whispered.“I can see clearly...at night?” She stood up slowly, not still believing herself to stand properly. Looking around, her surroundings were unfamiliar but her vision of the trees in the forest was super clear and the sounds of the crickets and frogs from a distance poured onto her ears like they were just at her feet, even the sound of a gentle stream running calmly in the distance sounded so close. She marveled at how strong she felt, her wounds were all healed like it was never there. She could not even feel the pain in her waist which she got three days ago by being pushed down the stairs by Cara.“What is happening to me?” She asked no one in particular.'Nothing.' The
Audrey did not know where to start, she did not know what to make of her life at the moment, her head was full and her thoughts were scattered. Her life was a mess. She slammed close the photo album, surprising Miranda with the unexpected behavior. Audrey stared at the closed photo album and made a decision right then. She was going to take control of her life, no more letting things and people from the past or present affect her. She had planned to inquire from Miranda why her mother had abandoned her in the hands of those cruel monsters, but she decided not to. She did not care anymore. Whatever the reason, she no longer wanted to find out. She just wanted to know, Where she was and how she got there.“Where am I? How did I get here?” She asked in a detached tone, shifting the photo album away from her. Miranda knew she was angry. She saw all her thoughts just by touching her hands. She was going to go slow with her, she had been through a lot for the past sixteen years.“Oh,
“Audrey, it’s time,” Miranda spoke behind Audrey who was standing in front of the mirror in the bedroom. It’s been two weeks since she appeared in the Secret Coven as her aunt called it. She had refused to leave the room to meet people and refused visitors too. She was now in charge of her life and she decided what she wanted or did not want to happen, as long as it concerned her.She felt this unexplainable surge of power within her like she could do anything now, but she did not know how to put what she felt into action. Miranda had told her that the second voice she heard was her spirit guide, and it was what teleported her into their Secret Coven. Audrey had questioned Miranda on everything she wanted to know about herself and she had discovered that she possessed the wolf of the moon goddess, and she was the reincarnation of Catherine, the strongest witch in history. But, those were all based on theory. Today, she was ready to go out and see what she was capable of. The ol
*“Here, a gift I got from the witch market, for protection. It’ll look beautiful on her.” Miranda smiled as she placed a red amulet shaped like a half-moon around the baby's neck.“Yes...it does." Isabella sniffed, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.“I'll be waiting,” Miranda said and went behind a huge tree, waiting for Isabella.“Luna Aurora.” Isabella bowed her head to a beautiful woman who emerged from the other side of the forest, a guard followed her closely behind.“Isabella,” Luna Aurora called softly, walking slowly to Isabella. She stopped right in front of Isabella and raised her hands to her face, caressing her teary cheeks. Isabella sobbed harder as she felt the gentle touch of the Luna on her cheeks.“I know you had your reasons, I know you better than they do. But I’m not going to ask you why because I trust you. I love you.”Isabella broke out in loud sobs as she heard those tender words from Luna Aurora. She could not form words as she still struggled to ca
"Happy birthday!”Audrey almost threw the tray of baked muffins she was carrying to the floor, but she held her palms upward, making the muffins and tray float in the air.“Oh my…what the fudge! Maria!” Audrey faked a frown at the culprit who was laughing hard, barely holding onto the cake she was carrying, her black bulb hair moving all around as she laughed.“you witch! You scared me!”“Aww, I’m sorry love. Happy birthday sweetheart.” Maria carefully placed the cake on the kitchen counter and spread her arms for a hug.Audrey smiled, holding back the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. She placed her muffins near the cake and went into Maria's open arms. She was engulfed in a very warm and friendly embrace. For the first time in eighteen years, she got a cake for her birthday. She felt very emotional.“Aw, come on, don’t cry. It’s just a cake, not a proposal.” Maria teased.“Don’t be a villain, Maria. Leave our little cousin alone.” A girl that looked exactly like Maria ca
“Sure.” She put down the telecom and went into Mr. Russell's office. She changed her name and look when she applied for this job. She decided to make use of a white lie; Catherine was her name after all...Centuries ago. And she dyed her her to a dark color.“Please, sit.” Mr. Russell pointed to the chair opposite his table. Audrey quietly sat, waiting for him to finish what he was typing on his computer. Audrey suddenly got agitated, Just before she could say something to remind him of her presence, he finally looked up from his screen.“I'm so sorry, I have to reply to those emails you sent yesterday night from Mr. Mark.”“That’s okay, sir. What can I do for you?” Audrey was confused by the sudden rage she felt toward her boss a few seconds ago, she was glad he spoke a second before she almost did, if not, she was sure she would be jobless by now.“I need you to do me a favor. I have a business meeting with Mr. Mark tomorrow afternoon but I won’t be going, I’ll be traveling to Lo
"Let's go, grumpy," Audrey outstretched her hand to her cousin. Maria took the outstretched hand and Audrey teleported them both back to the house."Come have breakfast with us, Audrey," Miranda called from the kitchen."Morning, Miranda. Juice will be fine."Audrey went over to Miranda and gave her a peck on the cheek before going upstairs to take a shower."Trust me, Mom, She's not hungry." Maria plopped down on the dining chair and dragged a plate of lasagne to herself. Eat first, shower later."Where are your table manners?" Miranda frowned at Maria for talking and dragging dishes over the dining table."Probably with Cody," Mary replied as she entered the dining room, smiling mischievously at her sister."What's Cody?" Miranda asked, confused."Who Mum, it's Who's Cody?" Mary replied with a cocky tune."Her boyfriend," Audrey said coming into the kitchen as she packed her hair into a pony."Don't believe them, Mom. You know me." Maria said in a defensive tone."Who Mum, it's Who
Audrey felt herself forcefully sucked into another time and place, a battlefield filled with creatures of furry, and in that moment, she knew; she had time-traveled, but she didn't travel alone.Amid the chaotic battlefield, she heard the distant voice of Alpha Lake shouting her name from behind. She was about to turn and go to him when she heard Sandra's voice shouting for her to watch out.She immediately turned towards Sandra's direction to see what she was talking about, and, when she did, she was too late to dodge the iron spear aiming right at her chest. But when she thought she would feel the impact, it effortlessly passed through her like she was made of wind, and the next thing she heard was Alpha's Lake's familiar voice groaning loudly in pain.Without thinking, she ran towards him and fell beside him; blood was already pouring out from his mouth and nose. In despair, Audrey wanted to lift his head onto her lap, but when she went to touch him, her hand weaved through his b
"Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! What are we going to do?!" Sandra asked anxiously, she was audibly shaking and hyperventilating.Maria was scared too, but she needed to stay calm for her powers to be effective. She quickly leaned over Audrey and tried to heal her by placing her hands over her forehead, but she instantly withdrew them from the shock she got from touching Audrey's skin. She scanned her eyes helplessly around the room, and when her eyes landed on Sandra who was busy walking back and forth and biting her nails, she suddenly remembered something."Alpha Lake!" Maria said in a shaky loud voice. She understood that only her mate could hold her at that moment."Yes? Huh! What?!" Sandra didn't understand a thing Maria said or what she was replying to either."Get yourself together and get Alpha Lake!!!" Maria shouted at Sandra. "I'm sorry, yes, Alpha Lake!" Sandra vigorously nodded and ran up the stairs. Before she could reach his door, the door was forcefully opened, and h
Audrey was deep in thought as she walked into the long passage to Ms. Bridet's room. She didn't realize that she was being followed the moment she walked down the stairs from Alpha Lake's condo. She reached Ms. Bridge's door and absent-mindedly raised her hand to knock on the door, but before her hand could reach the door, another hand beat her to it and knocked on the door before she could.Audrey was startled and quickly looked behind her just to find Sandra staring at her with a smirk."Figured you were in your sloth era so I decided to speed things a little bit up for you," Sandra winked at Audrey.Audrey huffed in silent laughter, shaking her head at her friend."Are you okay?" Sandra asked seriously. She knew her friend was worried, it was obvious from the way she looked. Before Audrey could reply, the door behind them opened."Everything alright, children?" Ms. Bridget asked as she opened the door and saw Audrey and Sandra standing there. They never visited without a reason. A
Maria gasped loudly; she never imagined their little conversation was going to end up that way; she turned to Mark and saw him looking unconcerned through his phone; she glared at him, blaming him for the turn of events, if he had only kept his big mouth shut, none if this would have happened. She slowly looked toward Alpha Lake; she'd heard that getting rejected by one's mate could be life-threatening, but when she looked at Alpha Lake's face, he was fucking smirking at an angry Audrey.Maybe Audrey was right in rejecting him; now he was showing his true colors, and he couldn't even pretend to be bothered by her rejection. What a scum!Audrey closed her eyes, waiting for the bone-crippling pain to pull her down to the ground but nothing happened. The only thing she felt was Avery's whiny voice giving her an earful for trying to reject their hot and sexy mate. She was surprised at that. Why was Avery thinking she was still 'trying' to reject him? She just did! That's exactly what she
Audrey sat in the dining, slowly eating her food and staring at everyone at the table. After Mark had proved his magical ability, Sebastian had come in to discuss something with Alpha Lake and Mark. Both Alphas pretended like they hadn't wanted to cut each other's throat earlier that day.Audrey had paused their conversation, and she had dragged Maria to the kitchen; it was time for lunch, and she was starving. She silently ate her food, looking from one person to the other, she stopped at Alpha Lake and suddenly remembered the conversation she had with him on his balcony when she had given him the box that had the pictures and letters; he had told her that he'll never mate her because he'll only see her as a sister, so, does it mean they're stepcousins now?Alpha Lake felt someone staring at him and raised his head to find the familiar green eyes of his mate staring thoughtfully at him. He felt her troubled mind and he felt her indecisiveness."Are you alright, Kitten?" Alpha Lake a
Audrey watched the surprise on Alpha Lake's face and realized that she wasn't the only one who had been blown off by the unfolding situation."Hey, chipmunk, you've grown bigger, and who the hell mated you?" Mark asked protectively."That's enough! Both of you!" Audrey went and grabbed Maria's arm, dragging her away from Mark and into the living room.Maria wanted to whine but suddenly realized the situation, she understood that she'd just landed herself into a big problem with Audrey and the Alpha. She had been carried away and didn't think about the aftermath. She understood why Audrey would be angry; if it were her, she'd feel angry and betrayed, too."Sit!" Audrey pushed Maria down on the sofa and glared at her before turning to Mark who was now standing beside her with a little smile on his lips."Hi, Catherine, or, is it Audrey now?" Mark asked, looking at her hair and her face.Alpha Lake had told him everything on their way to the Packhouse, so he knew that his little Catherin
"You're a real witch?" Caleb asked Audrey as they stood in front of the hospital. He was holding a bottle of water in his hand, sipping gulp after gulp to rinse the nausea away."Yes, Caleb," Audrey replied."Unbelievable," Caleb said."Better believe it, hun," Maria patted his shoulder.Caleb stared at Maria and Audrey and wondered what next those two had in store for him.How was he supposed to forget what he had seen now? He did pity Adeline, but he also knew she had a dark heart; maybe she'd learn from her mistakes this one."Come on, we've got lots of things to discuss," Maria said and dragged Audrey away from the hospital, Caleb stared longingly at her as she walked away from him."I need to grab something from the kitchen, hang on," Audrey said and walked toward the kitchen as they entered the pack house."I'll come with," Maria replied and immediately followed behind.Audrey pushed open the door to the kitchen and stood frozen at the door, staring right at the table they norma
Adeline's heart skipped a beat as she heard what Caleb had said. What did he find out?She panicked internally; she had been so blinded by jealousy that she didn't take her time to come up with a fail-proof plan. And, now, it looked like this stupid doctor was about to spew rubbish about her.No! She won't let that happen."What is it, Caleb?" Alpha Lake asked, folding his hands on his chest."Um, I kind of noticed that-""Ah! It hurts, Alpha. Please help me!" Adeline cried, holding her chest for emphasis."It was her!" She pointed at Audrey, "Catherine put me in this condition, Alpha. Punish her!" Adeline was now wailing hopelessly.Audrey chose to keep quiet, to see what Alpha Lake would do. If he ever believed Adeline for a second, then she'd waste no time in doing what was on her mind.Alpha Lake sighed and looked at Audrey for a long time, she was also holding his gaze, daring him to make the wrong decision."I don't believe you, Adeline," Alpha Lake slowly shook his head.Adelin
Audrey didn't even flinch; she just stood in front of the door, watching the Oscar-worthy drama as she easily leaned her head beside the door."Why did you do it?" Alpha Lake asked angrily as he lifted Adeline from the floor and escorted her out of the pack house without sparing Audrey a second glance.Audrey shrugged and went back into the house to continue her cooking, filling her stomach was more important than anything at that particular moment. The incident only solidified her decision about Alpha Lake. Sleeping with him was just a perk of the mate bond and was something she'd discovered she had no control over. But, marking him, was solely her decision, and she had decided not to mark him nor let him mark her.He was free to choose whoever he wanted, as long as he gave her what she wanted. And speaking of, it was about time she stated her rules with him. ***Alpha Lake lowered Adeline to the hospital begging, her wrist still bleeding."What happened?" Caleb asked as he carried
