CHAPTER 65

A flurry of the next three days went by as Amelia tried to get ready for her first shift.

She buried herself in the thick tome Margaret had loaned her, studying the staff handbooks, inventory organization, and other requirements.

She also got nice shoes and was ready to be comfy all day since she knew she would be on her feet most of the time.

Finally, Saturday arrived. The day could not come soon enough, and Amelia woke up early with butterflies in her tummy.

She attired herself correctly in black pants and a white shirt, which was a uniform of the store, and made her hair plain and tied it.

Looking at the white edifice in front of her and thinking about what is inside it as Amelia was walking to the bookstore, she allowed herself to have pride.

So far, she had come from the broken girl who had run away from the hospital a few weeks before.

Here she was in a strange place, preparing to start her new career.
