"Are you two arguing because of me?" Shanice questioned, her gaze darting between Asher and Serena.

Asher averted his gaze from Serena and stormed out of the bathroom without acknowledging Shanice's presence.

"Oh God, I am feeling so terrible right now. I am so sorry, Ren. I shouldn't have asked you to let me use your bathroom," Shanice put a hand on Serena's shoulder and apologized, faking a sorry tone. Serena quickly wiped away her tears and shook her head.

"It isn't your fault," she replied lowly without meeting her gaze and made her way out of the kitchen.

Asher returned home at 1 in the night. He stepped in through the door, carrying his jacket in one hand, only to find her waiting for him in the living hall. Asher halted in his pace when he saw her. Serena locked eyes with him and slowly got to her feet. The air between them was stiff and cold.

Serena walked over and stood in front of him. She rose on her tiptoes and sniffed him. Asher rolled his eyes.
