CHAPTER 5
Atlanta, Georgia
Enrico
"Call everyone here right now!" I told my right hand, Mathews, in an angry tone.
“Boss, is everything OK?" He asked, but I threw everything on my table to the ground and turned it over.
“Are you going or should I do it myself?" I asked him this time, pointing a gun directly at his chest, and we both knew my bullets never missed. "I—I will," he said quickly, hurrying out.
I was still in my office, destroying everything in my path as a sense of defeat burned inside me. "Oh my goodness, Enrico, what is the matter?" Monica inquired as she and my men hurried into my office.
"I should be asking all of you that now," I said, staring at everyone fiercely, including Monica, who did not bow her head like the others because she was my girlfriend.
"What happened, Enrico—did the Delucas offend you, or is it that stubborn bitch?" Monica asked as she attempted to approach me, but I pointed my gun at her.
"Stop or you might regret taking another step," I warned in a serious tone.
“Enrico please put that down I'm —"
"Uh!" she screamed as I shot at a glass beside her.
"Shut the hell up and go stand with them," I said as I walked out of the safe, retrieving the most painful gun I used to shoot traitors.
"Luis just married Ariella right under my nose, and it would not have happened if one of you had not told him, so who betrayed me?" I asked them, while they all shook their heads in fear.
“What!" Monica exclaimed shock all over her face.
“You heard me right Ariella married Luis Deluca, the man I have spent the last decade trying to bring down. Do any of you understand what that means?" I asked while I loaded the bullets into the gun.
"How is that possible, boss? I thought only we knew about your plans." Mathews asked.
"Very true; that is why I will kick you all out if none of you speak up," I said, pointing at Monica first.
"Enrico, for goodness sake, I am the last person who wants to work against you. I would rather die than watch you go down at Deluca's hands," she said.
"Good, I will give you all one last chance. It is either you speak or watch me—”
“Wait!" Monica cut me off.
"I believe I know who the traitor is," she said, walking from her position to Mathews.
“Wait, what are you trying to say?" Mathews asked her his voice stuttering.
"Who was that old man you were talking to at the casino yesterday before becoming uncomfortable when you saw me?" She asked him, and he could not stop laughing.
"Come on, I don't even know that man; we just had drinks together," he said, but I could not believe what I was hearing.
"Are you sure about that? I followed you until you dropped him off." Monica asked.
"And that was it, I don't know him,” Mathews said.
"OK, maybe you might recognize a picture of him going to the Deluca mansion," she said, pulling out a photo of the man heading there.
“What! No, I would never betray Enrico; there must be a misunderstanding somewhere," Mathews said, attempting to defend himself, but I interrupted him.
"I am very disappointed in you," I said, pointing the gun at him.
"So am I, Mathews, dammit; we are supposed to be family; look at what you have done to my Enrico; now that bitch is in the enemy's hands," Monica said.
"I am afraid we have to do it the right way when dealing with a traitor," I said, shooting him repeatedly and without emotion.
His blood was flowing in my office, so I asked the men to remove him and dispose of his body while I went upstairs to clean myself. "I am so sorry; I can not believe Mathews had such plans," Monica said as she entered my room.
“It's OK I believe you should stop mentioning his name already, and I need space, so you should leave now," I said, and she followed my order without hesitation.
I walked into my room and closed the door. I went into the bathroom to look at myself, trying to hold back the pain of losing my most valuable asset. I knew Luis Deluca had declared war, and that is exactly what he would get, but I needed to deal with some people first. I summoned my men and asked them to bring Rosalia Johnson to me, as she needed to explain how Ariella married Luis under her supervision. After my shower, I went downstairs and found her in the living room.
"Mr. McDonald, you called for me, and I am so honored to be here; what a lovely Villa this is," she said with a smile.
"Good, now tell me what happened to Ariella," I asked her in a serious tone.
“Ariella? I am not sure where she has been for the past 5 days, but when she gets home, I will arrange for her to come see you personally," she replied.
"Are you certain you understand what you are talking about?" I asked.
"Yes, look, if she has a boyfriend, I will get rid of that bastard myself; there is no way she will go for anyone other than you under my watch," she replied, this time with fear in her voice.
“Rosalia You are behind on everything, huh?” Monica interrupted as she entered.
“No, calm down, I'll make sure to get rid of any boy she's trying to get involved with. There's no way I'm allowing anyone other than Enrico to have her," Rosalia responded.
"Then how the hell do you not know that your niece is now married to Luis Deluca?" I asked.
“Wait.. what?” she replied as her face widened and shock took over.
CHAPTER 6Ariella I'm so worried and don't even know what to do. I know Lius has his men closely watching me on campus and everywhere I go from now on. I was in the car thinking about something when the driver took out a black card and a lunch box. "Mrs. Deluca, sir, asked me to give you this," he said, and I just wanted to throw it all away but could not because I was not sure what punishment I would face if I did. "I am fine; you can take that back. I will manage," I said, faking a smile."Madam, please take it; I will lose my life or break a bone if I return this to Mr. Deluca," the driver begged, but how was that going to be my problem? I assured him that nothing would happen and was about to get out of the car when I remembered how blood dripped from Luis' face when he forced me to sign the paperwork, so I quickly returned to take the card and launch box."I am sorry I was not thinking straight," I said, apologizing for nearly killing the innocent driver.“Ariella!" I heard Emm
CHAPTER 7Ariella Emma seemed to have a lot of questions after class. "I think I need to tell the both of you something," I said as I was about to speak when she interrupted me. “When did this happen?" "It is not what you think; I was forced into this whole thing, and I would not want anything to do with the Mafia. Just help me get out of this mess; I'm—”"Honey, you should not say stuff like that; people might think I am mistreating you, right Klara?" Luis interrupted, handing Klara a box of chocolates.“Ye—Yes,” she stuttered with fear in her tone."Calm down, I am your brother-in-law, so I do not mean any harm to you, my wife, and I have to go home now; if you do not mind, I can have my driver drop you off," Luis said, and Emma hesitated, but Klara gave in. We all went to the car, and the driver went to drop off Klara and Emma before driving us home. Luis removed his arm from my shoulder as soon as the car came to a stop and pulled me out by hand. "What are you doing? Let go." I
CHAPTER 8Luis I have been in Ariella's room for about 5 minutes and she has not even gotten out of the shower. I don't think she knows what I'm like when angry. How could a girl like her make me wait so long? It had been about ten minutes when I decided to go into the bathroom, but she was not there. What? Could she have escaped or something? I quickly called the cameraman to check, but he said he had last seen her with my sister, so I went to her room and found her alone. "Luis, what is the matter?" Annie inquired, noting my worried expression."It is nothing. Have you seen Ariella anywhere?" I asked."You mean the famous law student?" she said."Umm, I believe so, but she should be in her room," Annie replied, putting her clothes in the closet.“OK I'll go —" "Wait," she interrupted. I knew she was going to ask about me and Ariella, so I told her to wait and walked away. I went to Ariella's room and found the door exactly as I had left it. “Boss, are you OK?" I heard David ask a
CHAPTER 9Ariella I did not expect Luis to be such a jerk; after all, he is a moron. I needed to fix my hair and went to Kendy for help; I was curious why such a sweet and understanding woman would want to be in this hell of a mansion. What am I even saying? It is a mansion, after all, and who would not want to live in one unless it was me who felt suffocated here? When Luis dragged me out of Kendy's room, I witnessed his brutality.I did not have anything against the Delucas, even though they think they run Atlanta, but now that I have been forced to marry Luis, I believe my hatred has begun. I hope Emma can help me get out of this marriage, but how will I explain to Dad that I was forced? He might have a heart attack or something, which I can not afford to cause because he will think my life is in danger.I was still deep in thought when I heard a knock on my door and asked the person to come in. I did not have to guess who it was because the moment I saw her—Kendy—a smile appeared
CHAPTER 10Ariella Looks like all the men in this mansion really like getting their way with women. How could a man like Marcus even try to get anywhere close to me after all that bad stuff I've heard of him? Forcing girls into stripping and sometimes taking people's girlfriends away in front of them. How wicked could that be? I was still lost in my thoughts when the door opened and Kendy walked in. “Mrs. Deluca good morning I hope you had a great night would you—"“No, I'm fine. I'll have breakfast at Emma's house. You can get busy with something else, OK," I cut her off, but she gave me a terrified look.“Emma?" she asked, looking surprised."Yes, that is my buddy. We have an assignment together, so I will dine at her apartment, and you can just get busy with anything else," I answered, pulling my hair into a ponytail.“OK but have you asked for permission from Mr. Deluca?" she questioned."I am not his slave or anything; I have rights and won't—I mean, why should I do that—?”I wa
CHAPTER 11Ariella I just want to smack Luis hard, but by the time my palm touches his cheek, I will be dead. It is unbelievable that he had to bring me to the office to ask why I wanted to go study at Emma's apartment; he clearly did not understand what I was attempting to accomplish. "Are you sure you are just going to study?" he inquired, staring deeply into my eyes."Yes, I am, and I do not believe it is a huge issue since I am suffocating here," I responded, regretting my words because they may put me in serious trouble."I realize you are getting comfortable, but I would encourage you to watch your mouth because I will not be as kind next time," he cautioned, and I simply nodded as I walked out of his office after he dismissed me.I pondered what I had done to marry such a vicious monster. Death is the only thing that comes to mind when I stand near him, and dread occasionally gets the best of me, but I can not afford to appear weak. "Have you said your goodbyes to hubby?" Anni
CHAPTER 12Ariella Despite my deep-seated terror, I was unable to display it when the demon appeared at the door. I exited the vehicle as Luis opened the door and his security carried my bag inside. He was quite agitated about something. He told his sister, "Annie, go to your room," while I pondered what might come next. I stood there watching as he walked closer. "Are you aware that you are late?" he inquired, his tone composed despite the heated expression on his face.“No, but —" “Yes or damn no?" he cut me off.“Look here, Mr. Deluca, I understand that you're a Mafia and have rules, but I…I just want to leave my life and be free from all this misery,” I said not caring what would happen next."What makes you think that what is mine can decide to leave its way?” he asked, staring deep into my eyes."I have rights, and I will not stay here forever," I stated confidently."Ms. Lawyer, you can reserve your confidence for later and go freshen up, OK,? I have business to attend to,"
CHAPTER 13Ariella Only God knows what would have happened if that beast didn't get distracted. I've made up my mind to stay in this mansion, so I'll just escape when everyone is asleep. I have been here for a while now so I can do it without getting noticed. I packed my books and placed my bag on the rug. Everything in here doesn't belong to me, not even the expensive clothes.Luis bought everything in here and I'm not taking what's not mine as it's unethical. I took a seat on my bed and dialed Emma's number. “Arie…are you OK?” she asked immediately after picking up my call."Yes, I need you to do me a favor," I said, hoping she wouldn't say no.“Come on, it's late, can't I do it tomorrow?" she responded."I want to stay at your apartment and then figure out how to get home tomorrow," I added. She said, "What?! I mean, what happened to you staying at the Deluca's?”"I can not be here much longer. Therefore, I am leaving when everyone goes to sleep," I clarified."OK but is it safe?
CHAPTER 32Luis I can't lose to a woman. I am not sure why I raced out like an idiot when she requested me to apply lotion to her back. That's not supposed to be something difficult. It is not the first time I have touched a woman or seen her naked, but something about Ariella is ready to drive me insane if I do not get myself together.I returned to her room and found her on her phone, about to make a call, but stopped when she spotted me. “Aren't you going to respond?" I inquired while Emma repeatedly called her name, but she remained focused on me.“Emma, I'll call you back later, my…My husband has arrived," she added before hanging up the phone. That is hardly something she would say with much enthusiasm. What the hell am I missing?"I am returned to apply lotion to your back," I remarked, but she merely grinned and took a big breath before informing me she had already done it herself.Dammit, I missed that chance. Now I feel like some idiot.“Boss—”"David, please wait for me a
CHAPTER 31Ariella Emma and I headed to her office. I simply loved spending time there rather than returning to the estate where firearms can be seen from every angle. I am just hoping there are no explosives in there."So, Ariella Johnson, what is your next plan?" Emma inquired, and I did not mind when she addressed me by my father's surname. It is not like I want anything to do with the DeLuca surname."Girl, you should call me that frequently; I truly feel at ease with that last name," I said.“I know right, so answer the question." "I was initially eager to get rid of that beast of a man's surname, but now I want him behind bars for murdering my father. I will have an easier time dealing with Enrico if I first deal with the most vicious Don," I explained."Ariella you are becoming more aggressive by the day; are you sure you are okay?""I am not doing given the things I have been doing lately, but—""Oh, baby, that is all right; I am here," she said, hugging me.I sobbed for a l
CHAPTER 30Ariella This man is ruthless. I wish I could just stop what I am doing, but my father's grave deserves justice. I was in the study the entire time and did not see Luis when he returned. Is it possible that another entrance leads inside this mansion? I asked myself deep into my crazy thoughts.I resumed studying for the second test and eventually fell asleep due to exhaustion. This was something I would typically do at home, and my father would take me to bed, but this time I awoke in the devil's study. I glanced at the clock and could not believe I was going to be late when I heard someone attempting to break into Luis' study. Who could be trying to get in here so early? Not wanting to move, I just waited for the person to open the door before pressing a biometric button to turn on the lights when my gaze landed on Marcus.“Ariella! What are you doing here?" He inquired, attempting to mask his embarrassment, but I was too skilled for that game."I assumed this was my hus
CHAPTER 29Luis “Aren't they here yet?" I asked David.“Yes Boss." Ariella has been acting weirdly; I have no idea how she became so daring suddenly. I was still shocked when she served my food and asked me to pour her coffee. I felt like all of my alternatives had been exhausted, and I stood there obediently following her request. I can not believe she could stroll calmly while clutching my arm and entering my study. I'm now trapped in my command. I blame my foolish lawyer and David."Boss, your lawyer has left the nation and will only return next week," David stated as he walked into my office.“This is all your fault. How could you go as far as adding her fingerprints? Do you have any notion how many safes she can open?""Boss, I am sorry, I thought I was following your commands," David said, although this made no sense at all."David, did my grandmother ask you to promise her something?" I asked since I knew him so well."No Boss I…I—" "Damn it, David, how could you be so care
CHAPTER 28Enrico Monica is such a stubborn woman; I have warned her several times to get out of Ariella's way, but she lets her jealousy get in the way. I have never informed Ariella or anyone else that she is my girlfriend, save for the members of my Mafia. Now she is weeping over whatever Ariella did to her on campus, and I am expected to soothe her."Babe, I am talking to you; are you even listening to what I am saying? Ariella humiliated me today," she reiterated after saying it several times."I heard you, honey; you need to calm down," I said.“What is that supposed to mean? Enrico, do you even know what rumors are saying around campus right now?" she inquired."Monica, please, I need to focus. Will you calm down or just go so I have my peace?”"Oh, it has gotten to this now, huh?" She said, making her way out before I stopped her at the door; she then added, "I am telling you how horrible I feel, and you are asking me to go fine.""Come back here, babe. I'm sorry." “Speak,
CHAPTER 27Ariella We were now in class, and Professor Hayes was returning our final work after he entered the grades. I could see how other pupils were encouraged, but when he approached me. He merely handed me the paper and went on to Emma; I understood what that meant. The classroom remained hushed, and I realized why no one dared to laugh: they were afraid of having their tongues cut off."It is fine, we will do better next time," Emma whispered, mending my shoulder, but it did not make me feel any better because I despised failing assignments."I am OK," I said, though she knew too well to suspect I was lying. The class had been dismissed, and we were all standing up to go when Professor Hayes beckoned me back. "May I have a word with you, Mrs. Deluca?" He muttered and I, knowing what to anticipate, strolled back to his desk."Yes," I said, Emma beside me, when he begged her to pardon us."I will be outside," she said and walked away."I believe you know why I called you back.
CHAPTER 26Ariella Dinner was finally over, and everyone was startled that I had served Luis's dish. Kendy and the other maids removed the plates while I made my way upstairs, confidently gripping Luis' arms. He merely stared at me and kept heading up the stairs as I tried not to notice what was going on. When we reached up, I pulled my arm from his and was going to walk to the Golden Room when he took my hand.“Uhmm is everything OK?" I feigned to inquire as if it did not worry me at all, but I was shaking inside."Ariella, whatever you are attempting to accomplish will end in the worst manner imaginable, so you should stop and focus on being healed. You can not just bury your father yesterday and then start being a changed person," he said, which was true, but I knew what I was doing."That is fantastic advice, but I am used to stating the deceased are gone and will soon be forgotten, so you do not need to worry."I could see he was horrified to hear that from someone who had just
CHAPTER 25Ariella I feared that I would be locked up in the Mafia until I discovered my final hope in an unexpected place: Luis's study.I was busy looking through the drawers when my fingers accidentally lingered over the biometric pad, and in an attempt to withdraw them, my thumb pushed against it.The message 'ACCESS GRANTED' appears on the screen.I was shocked, but I wanted to find out what was concealed inside, so I immediately withdrew the black file bound with golden ropes, and to my amazement, it read, "RIGHTS AND SHARES BETWEEN MRS AND MR DELUCA."Unable to believe what I had just read, I opened the file and began reading the documentation, only to discover that I was a 50% shareholder in the Deluca fortune and had several rights, some of which contradicted Luis' selections.I quickly made a copy of the paper and returned it before anybody discovered that my fingerprint could also access biometric drawers. I needed hope and bravery if I was going to confront Luis When I a
CHAPTER 24Luis She was clearly trying very hard to stop the tears from streaming down her face, but I was a complete idiot and did not even know how to help. My guards were all gazing at me, undoubtedly expecting me to go console her since she was my wife in their view. I walked towards her and took a seat next to her. I could see she wanted to walk away, but I kept her hand. For the first time in a long time, I felt sorry for a lady; the last time I did was when I was with my late fiancé, whom I still miss. Ariella attempted to resist, but I informed her that I was not there to be unkind."What else do you want from me?" she asked, pulling her hair behind her face.“Nothing, I —" "Then let me go; is it not enough that you killed my father?” She said and that frustrated me hard since I was not responsible."Believe me when I say I didn't. I will discover the true killer and—"“Is that a joke or something? I know you did it and will not stop until you pay for what you did, OK!" she
