Reassurance.

“I would if I could, Uncle. Every time I think about the situations and catastrophes that had us under its wing, anger and resentment find their way into my heart. Like a puppet, I cannot do anything but withstand it until it's the right time to attack back.”

Uzair raised his eyes to meet Randhir's. Randhir could read the emotions that Uzair allowed him to read. It was surreal. Out of all the people working on this mission, he was the most obsessively attached to finding the culprits and having them hanged as per their punishments.

Nonetheless, one thing that Randhir didn't realise about Uzair was that it wouldn't be just death by hanging when he gets his hands on them—no. He will torture them and bring them to the brink of death before he shows them their own pits of hell. To the point where begging for death would do them no good. The vividness of the imagination put Uzair in a little bit of a good mood.

“I understand, boy. It's not easy waiting while your insides are

I need to calm down.” Because I knew what overthinking would do to me if I didn't stop my overwhelming thoughts from getting off my mind. It would be creating more havoc than I was capable of holding. Blinking my eyes with conjuring some positive thoughts Days passed quite hastily in the past few months. Robbing me of all the given rights as a human being by the Constitution. Huh. As if I had any right to begin with. There came a time when I had forgotten how to continue to breathe involuntarily, just thinking about living somewhere I never wanted to. No wonder I could not believe that I was kept here for the last six months. It was unreal for me to believe that six months had passed like a blur. It still appalled me to reckon what had arisen in the past to have me captured like a bird in its cage. Us. I distracted myself by thinking about my little brother from the situation I was in. It would do nothing but restrain you into believing in yourself.” Again, just thinking about it brought tears to my eyes. It broke my heart into splinters. “It is not easy.” I tore my helpless eyes from his shirt to look him in the eyes. “I wish it was as easy as you said.” “I know,” wiping my face again, he told me. “Neither for me, it is easy.” There was moisture in his eyes as well. They were glazed over. "Still, we have to stay alive to survive. For that, we have to will our minds to stay alright for our own mental health to live. We cannot just let our emotions control our minds. It brings nothing but persistent sadness and grief that we cannot afford to have. We need to live. A crucial turn. Taking hold of both of my hands, he kissed them. “I apologise for not being there when you felt like you were alone. I apologise for making you feel so scared to the point where you have to take steps you shouldn't have. I apologise for leaving you alone to fend for yourself and Shaur until now,” he took a little pause as he breathed a deep sign. “I apologise for not telling you about anything that should have been told to you. I apologise for hiding all the facts where you couldn't help but feel left out. I am terribly sorry to leave you with the people who are nothing but strangers to you. Will you forgive me, Betaji, for my own incompetence?” My eyes were already blurred before I realised I was taken aback by the look of disdain on his face. Surprisingly, it was for no one but himself. “No, it wasn't your fault, uncle. Don't say that. No one could have seen that coming. I could never blame you for anything, uncle. You know that.” Leaning against the sofa, he g

    29—Stupefaction. “Sometimes the betrayal doesn't come from others. It comes from us as we trusted others blindly when already knowing the consequences.”—Saumya TripathiNo matter how long I waited, he remained deathly silent. I gnawed at my lip. “He did not lie to you at all,” his eyes appeared to have opened the gates of remorse. “It's the truth, Betaji.”After what felt like hours, he finally responded. Goosebumps pricked my skin. It was indeed not the first time I had inkling about what he just confirmed, but it still came as a shock when I was somewhere hoping it wouldn't be as certain as people around me made it. My mind was clouded with thoughts again. Thoughts that had me feeling completely ruined. In that minute, the ominous feeling came into light when I realised it was that feeling I was trying to ignore. How could he not tell me about my own past all these years? How was I supposed to trust the words coming from a total stranger if I was lied to from the beginning? It

    Breakthrough. (Part—one) “You are right. I cannot deny that. Nevertheless, they aren't here. But we need to be sure to keep you safe from dangers that lurk. So that they know the children of a hero aren't weak or a coward to die so soon.”Having wiped the tears from my knuckles, I strove to assuage my rising emotions. Sitting there crying won't make it any better. This was no time to weep. I tried to gather my wits when there was a pregnant silence that none of us wanted to break. “If this was the case, why was I not informed before any of this?” I closed my eyes. “Before their demise...? Why did my own parents try to hide something so important to me?”“Because you were simply not ready for it. You were too young to understand anything.”“But I sure was ready to be taken as a hostage. No?”“Oh, my little bird, you were never a hostage.” He took a deep sigh. “You were in the protection of Shrey, whom only he could pull something off when you were almost on the verge of being assassi

    Breakthrough. (Part—two) You cannot do that, uncle! You cannot save us by sacrificing yourself. Do you think I can lead a better life after knowing that? I cannot let you do that! I won't be able to take another suffering from your supposed death!”“Sh, I know I know.” Stroking my head, he calmed me down when I broke down, sobbing yet again. I was so emotional today after meeting with him that I knew no bounds. And also, I was too tired of everything. It took us more than half an hour to get back to our conversation. “Do you feel better?” Wiping my tears from his own handkerchief, he asked. “I am.”“Don't you dare scare me like this! Do you understand?”I nodded again. “Do you think I would willingly do something like that?”“Honestly speaking, uncle. I don't know anything anymore.”“I understand. Breakthrough. (Part—three) Two hours later. "Here, drink this.” Taking the glass full of water with energy powder within it from his extended hand, I drank. Time lapsed.“I have calmed down, uncle.” I was. After toxifying most of the burden, I did feel lighter and much better than before. “Are you sure?” Taking the glass, he left it on the glass table in front of us after making sure not a drop of it remained in the glass. Breathing deeply, I blinked at him and nodded my head. “I will get you properly checked. Your anxiety seems to have worsened in the past few days. Are you having trouble sleeping again?”I was silent. Because it was true. It was the third time in a row I couldn't sleep. I was almost used to having power naps and could never sleep soundly.At last, choosing to be truthful, I nodded. “It's harder to fall asleep lately.”“Hm. Breakthrough. (Part—four) Rampaging my mind for questions, I decided to ask just to confirm the roots of it, "So, is this true as well that you might have known them from the beginning, uncle?" It was quite simple to catch whom I was acquiring. So, I stared. I already knew the answer, but I needed confirmation again and again. “How?” Knowingly, it was stupid of me to ask such a question because somewhere in me—I knew that answer as well. Though I still questioned him for confirmation as there was an irrational hope inflicted in me, hoping against the hope for the opposition of the known result. Why? I didn't know. "Deep inside, you already have your answers, Gudiya," Randhir uncle quipped calmly. "But I can repeat it for you if you want me to,” he gave me a smile, caressing my head. “But I can tell you what you do not know.” “W-what is it?” “We have known them even before you were conceived. Stillness of Dread. “It has been a week,” Radhika breathed the words out. “Almost a week of nothing being the same anymore, however.” Almost a week had passed with the presented information she had no hint of before about her own life till she was made aware of it. It has been a week since she had her worst mental breakdown for the first time. A week has passed since there were ineffable emotions she felt that were difficult to understand by herself. A week, after her acceptance of the facts, led to another set of questions that did not quite sit well with her. “A week..” she murmured. A week since she last saw Uzair.. She placed her hand on her chest, closing her eyes. It gave a sudden jolt, thinking of him. She did not trust him, not fully; she could not. Not at all. But she was trying to. Everything was so different now. Or perhaps nothing was the same anymore. All her life she lived with the truth that was never complete to begin with. Even after knowing the truth about eve

    31– His ineffable anger. “Our opinions only matter to others as long as they agree to it. Otherwise, they are just words without meaning.”–Saumya Tripathi A week later. Last day of the week.Precise: a day before the departure to Dubai. Uzair was in the middle of a last meeting of the day before he left when he felt the vibration of the phone in the underside pocket of his suit jacket. He ignored it, seemingly sensing nothing significant that could not wait. With that thought in his mind, he gazed at the screen in front of him, projecting the launch of another product presented to him for approval regarding its favourable opportunity and innovative ideas for fruitful results.“Tell me if you have any other ideas of its launch date. Which would be the best day for it to let it out in the market?”“Inform the HR team before any further procedures.”“Yes, President!”His phone rang again while it continued to vibrate; without giving it a second thought, he let it. He ignored it once

    Bound by Obsession. They both froze at her sudden whisper. Confused about how those words made out of her mouth without trying, her eyes instantly widened. It took him a moment to realise how much it would have taken for her to say what she just did. Because it was far from her gullible and apprehensive state, which she always felt while he was near her. It was none other than her honest side. “It has been your room since childhood.”Her eyes became wider as his insinuated statement. “Oh? I used to live here?” “Very much so. You were stubborn, wanting to have this room as your own.”“Was I always drawn to this garden as well?”Squeezing her a little between his arms, he replied. “This garden was precisely made for you on your instruction.”“Wasn't I too small for that?”He gave a light laugh before starting. “You were. You saw it in a cartoon, desiring to have the same garden for yourself. So, here we are.”She lightly gasped at his nonchalant reply. For once, her mind was empty;

More scared thinking about happening something like that again to her uncle. “As long as you don't put your life in danger. No one will get hurt.” He nodded her way, giving a curt nod. “I will make sure he is,” gently cupping her hands, he initiated. “He probably is in danger all the time.”“I will make sure that he will be looked after.” She gazed up at him with her large, innocent, hesitating eyes. Asking him as if he was really telling the truth. “I will not let anyone harm him either.” Her gaze moved before she let her head fall back on her knees. His heart fluttered in his chest at her hopeful look. Indeed, she was his only weakness; he could not afford to have her hurt herself. “No matter the hardships, I promise to keep you and your family safe by standing by your side through the adventure of our lives,” he vowed

    Shattered Calm: His Unexpected Rage. “Let me clarify two things for you,” he uttered at a slow pace.A chill sliced her ribs.“One, I did not take away your freedom. It's the people who treat other people's lives so carelessly. It's their own greed that other people's lives don't matter while the said people could do nothing but take refuge wherever they can to save their lives.”At his brutal grip and harsh words, Radhika couldn't muster up the strength to retort to that. “Two, neither have I taken anything away from you. Only I know how much effort I am making to control myself because your accusations have no facts! They are just plainly stating unreasonable remarks and nothing else! Have I ever lied to you about anything?”“Do you think telling a lie isn't the only way to trick people?”Uzair slightly flinched at her cold gaze. She never looked at him like that before. “No.” She answered her own question. “Telling half-truths can trick people into having false assumptions just

He forced her face before him again; he stated, “I know how you feel. What is the point of hiding your pain now? Does sharing even a little bit of your burden give you an inferiority complex? Is this a reason why you are forcing yourself to hide away from everything?”She breathed shakily. His words hit it all the way through her, breaking apart the walls that she created for her own sake. Little by little. Choosing not to show how much his words hit her, she changed her hazy mind into believing otherwise. “Do you really?” Her eyes were challenging him to deny. Maybe it was the tiredness in her body that made her feel brave. “I doubt you know how I feel.”A smirk appeared on t

Above all, at this ungodly hour of the time! Even though she was once an energetic child, she always had been feeling sluggish and heavy while coming here. Besides, today was no exception. Her reluctant eyes flickered. He raised his head to look at her. To finally look at her. Instead of saying a word, he chose to stare at her sad and sleep-filled eyes. A small smile appeared at the corner of his lips. “Such a cute little bunny.” Her large, filled, hazy eyes made him compare her to a bunny. Her frown lines were the first thing he took notice of. But he chose not to comment on that for now. Not yet. A veil of silence fell upon them, the distance of it growing with each passing second. Standing in a slower motion, she anxiously backed away unconsciously. When did she get off the bed? She didn't ev
