A dream? It was one of the coldest mornings that day. The wind was chilling cold. Still, the cold didn't waver the enthusiasm present in the little girl's elated aura surrounding her of making new friends in the new school on the first day. Some unforgettable moments. Some unforgettable moments are the ghosts of the past, haunting us with their beauty, their pain, and their lessons that taught us things that come our way unexpectedly. I felt that to my very core. The same was the case when he was born into our lives. Because he had come with a huge happiness, increasing it tenfold. Her first laugh after months. I sucked a bated breath the moment I noticed his presence behind me. When did he even enter the room without my noticing? “Hello there, little one.” Swiveling my head to face the sudden intruder, what I saw made me gulp down my frustrations. And, here he was standing there with hands behind his back—locked together, his face having a goofy smile, shoulders all relaxed, legs apart as he regarded me with obnoxiously black pools of his eyes. The devil's touch. Only when my laugh subsided did I notice how hard my lower abdomen was hurting after laughing so hard for so long. At that moment, I failed to decipher what to think anymore. Feeling strangely weak and vulnerable. Soon after, my mind appeared to have gone blank, as did the voices inside my head. It was calming for once.
