The Divorce

Her words came with finality and without waiting for a reply from Eugene, she threw the papers at him and banged the door close angrily.

How could Liam do this to her? How could he?

Tears rolled out of her eyes in fast motions as she slid down the door, sitting on the ground finally. She buried her head in her laps and cried painfully, her chest hurting as she did.

She knew Liam, he always got whatever he wanted. He had asked for a divorce and she knew he would get it, no matter how she long she tried to resist. But she wasn't going to give up either, she had invested her time, her heart, everything she had into making this relationship work.

She even left her business and became a full house wife as he had wanted. She had acted according to every of his wishes. She didn't have any friends, didn't have any job, no one to talk to except her mother and his parents and yet he had the effrontery to do this to her?

She wasn't going to accept this divorce no matter what. She was going to resist it to the end. This marriage was going to work, it had to work. He had promised her they were going to be together forever. What about the oaths he made on their wedding day? The numerous promises when they were dating? He told her he would never leave her? Then why was he doing this now.

Why was he asking her to divorce him when he knew how pained she would be? When he knew he was taking the only thing that mattered to her in the whole world? Her marriage.

It wasn't going to be easy, he couldn't take her out of the house against her own will. She can't be forced into signing the divorce papers and even when the matter is taken to the court, she would make sure she would win.

She felt hot, her eyes felt dizzy and she had a hard time getting up when she heard the door bell ring again.

"Good morning, Mrs Jordans or should I say Miss Chapman?"

Alexandra raised her brow, wondering who the intruder was and he smiled slowly as he stretched his hand forward for a shake.

"Hi. I'm Eric Willows, Mr Jordan's lawyer."

"She refused to sign the papers?" Liam was mad when Eugene came back to the office. But he had expected it. He knew she wouldn't give in so easily to the divorce so he had made preparations incase things didn't work out easily.

"Eugene, call Eric and ask him to go to my place. Alexandra has to sign that paper at all costs. I don't care how he would get her to sign it. He just has to do it." He ordered and Eugene nodded, getting his phone immediately.

"Eugene." Liam called again as Eugene was about to call Eric.

"Yes, sir." He replied. He could see the hesitation on Liam's face as he said

"Ask Eric to give her everything she wants as a bonus. Any amount of money she wants to collect." He said. Eugene's eyes widened slowly and he hoped Liam wasn't out of his mind. What if he did that and Liam later said he doesn't remember asking him to say that? He had just gotten this job and had not even spent six months, he didn't want to lose it now.

"Are you sure, sir?" He asked again for clarification.

"Yes. Although she might not accept it." He said and sighed slowly. Eugene wondered why Liam was so down after sending the divorce papers, but he went ahead to call Eric and tell him everything.

Alexandra walked down the stairs slowly. She had just had her bath and had changed into something better.

She walked towards the living room where Eric was sat patiently, waiting for her to be done with whatever she was doing.

"Would you like a drink, Mr Willows?" She asked just at the last step.

"Are you going to poison me?" The lawyer asked and Alexa smiled a little, taking her seat opposite him.

"I don't have any reason to poison you. The only person I could dream of poisoning right now is Liam, though I wonder if he's going to take it." She stated, her eyes looking blank. Eric assumed she was going to be fine with the divorce after he spoke with her.

"Miss Chapman..." He started.

"Mrs Jordans." Alexandra corrected and he sighed. She was proving to be very stubborn indeed.

"My client has agreed to give you whatever you want. You can ask for anything, all you need is to just sign the papers." He said, trying to convince her.

"Please tell Liam I'm not going to sign this. I'm not going to divorce him." She said adamantly.

"What exactly do you want? I'm sure you know you can't fight Mr Jordans. He has everything in his power to win against you in this." Eric continued.

"I don't care. Liam isn't going to force me to sign the divorce papers no matter what. If he wants that, then let him talk to me himself. If there is nothing else to discuss, please get out of my home." She said, ending the conversation. Eric opened his mouth to talk, but the look she gave him made him get up and walk out of the house calmly.

"She refused." He said on the call as he got into his car.

In less than five minutes, Liam angrily drove into the compound, holding the divorce papers in his hands.

Alexandra was still sitted as she knew he would come home immediately.

Dropping the papers on the table in front of her, he said coldly..

"Sign them!"
