I heard it. I knew who Rue was talking about. And watching him lie to me was so heartbreaking. 

As I heard Rue's phone ring, my senses sharpened, and I felt the weight of the bed shift as he got up. With my eyes still closed, I listened intently, pretending to be asleep. But every fiber of my being was alert, tuned into the situation happening around me. 

Quietly, I watched him, my heart pounding in my chest. And then, just before he closed the door, I heard it - the name that confirmed my suspicions: "Ysabell."
