Chapter 41; You shouldn't judge a book by its cover

Elijah's POV

Hearing from my secretary that Coraline and Becca were downstairs in the lobby, had my heart racing like never before. I couldn't explain what it was, was it worry or excitement or fear? But seeing them waiting for me in front of my office and Becca leaping into my arms just felt right. It felt natural and I wanted more occurrences like that.

Another thing I had not anticipated was the fear I felt when Coraline fell on her wrist and couldn't move it. I was ready to carry her in my arms and rush her to the hospital but she insisted that nothing was wrong with her legs and she would walk.

At the hospital, I had to continuously reassure Becca that nothing was wrong with her mother and also distract her.

"Bee, let's go get a Skittles at the magic machine." I led her to the vending machine, brought out a coin, and pretended I was casting a spell on the coin, I slotted it into the machine and also said some nonsensical words then the candy pack came out. Becca bent down and pic
