The cold steel floor beneath her feet was

nothing compared to the coldness she felt

inside. Fay stood in the center of the

training room, trying to steady her breath.

Around her, the pack moved with grace

and purpose, shifting effortlessly between

forms, demonstrating enhanced senses

and agility with such ease that Fay couldn't

help but feel inadequate.

Dominic stood nearby, watching her with a

thoughtful expression. "Focus, Fay. Feel

your connection to the ground, to the air.

You need to center yourself before you can

tap into your instincts."

Fay nodded, but her mind was far from

calm. Every time she attempted to focus, it

felt as if she was swimming against an

overwhelming current.

While the others seemed born for this life, she could barely manage to control her senses.

Her heightened hearing, her vision--everything seemed to overwhelm her. She couldn't seem to overwhelm her. She couldn't quite make sense of it. Why wasn't this coming naturally to her?

Fay sat alone in the serene stillness of the lake, the soft ripples of the water lapping gently at the shore. The sky above was a deep, starless black, yet the soft glow of the moon seemed to stretch across the water like a ribbon of light. It was quiet, almost too quiet. No wind, no sounds of creatures, just the calming sound of the lake. She was confused. Why was she here? She didn't remember coming to this place, but somehow it felt familiar-almost as though she had been here before, in some dream, in some forgotten time. The air around her was heavy, laden with an unknown power, and as she looked around, a figure emerged from the mist that hovered just above the water. The atmosphere inside the mansion was thick with tension. The heavy wooden doors to Lady Rosie's private chambers creaked open, and the trio of wolves, now human again, stepped inside with quiet determination. They were drenched in sweat from their hot pursuit, their movements serious as they approached Lady Rosie's ornate desk. She sat in her high-backed chair, her gaze fixed on them, her expression unreadable. The three men, their eyes glowing with ferocity, exchanged uncertain glances before the leader, his features still marked with the wildness of his transformation, stepped forward. His voice was low but firm as he spoke."Lady Rosie, we've found the girl."Lady Rosie's lips curled into a thin smile, her sharp eyes gleaming with interest as she leaned forward slightly, her fingers tapping against the surface of her desk. "And?""She's closer than we thought," the leader said, his voice tinged with both respect and wariness. "The girl. She's... different. There's something about

The mansion still held the soft, peaceful calm of the early morning. Fay stood in front of the mirror in her room, staring at her reflection with a sense of stillness. Her mind, however, was far from calm. Dominic's words, his departure, and the strange heaviness that had settled over the morning clung to her like a weight she couldn't shake. He had kissed her goodbye, left with promises he would return, but the uncertainty still lingered in the air. She drew in a steadying breath and pushed the thoughts away. She couldn't let her fears control her. She had to keep moving forward.Dominic had said he would be back, and she believed him. There was no use in doubting him now.The room was silent except for the quiet hum of the mansion's air conditioning, and for a moment, she closed her eyes and let the calm wash over her. But it didn't last long. She could feel the pull of the outside world—the duties and responsibilities that called her away from the safety of the mansion.Fay stepp

Dominic's footsteps were heavy as he walked to the bed, the door creaking softly behind him. The warmth that had been so evident in his gaze just moments before was now replaced with a tightness, an unreadable mask that made Fay's chest tighten. He moved slowly, as if every step he took brought him closer to something heavy, something that had changed the moment.Fay's heart skipped a beat. She knew something had shifted, but she couldn't quite place it. She had been basking in the lingering warmth of their shared morning —the kiss, the promises made in the quiet of the night. It had been perfect. But now, as he stepped back into the room, something had stolen that perfection away.He stood there for a moment, his posture stiff, his expression distant, and Fay instinctively curled her fingers around the edge of the blanket, as though bracing herself for what was to come."What is it?" she asked again, quietly, her voice laced with concern. She hadn't missed the change in him, and it

The soft light of morning filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. Fay stirred, feeling a pleasant weight in her limbs as she slowly woke from her peaceful slumber. She was tangled in the sheets, her body warm and content, but there was something else, something deep inside her a quiet joy, a sense of completion. Her hand moved instinctively to her side, and she smiled, the memory of the night before flooding back in waves. The way he had touched her, how his hands had held her with such tenderness and passion. The way they had come together, not just physically, but in a way that made her feel seen, heard, and loved. The memory of their love-making made her smile softly. She never imagined that this was where they would be where she would be with him. It felt right. It felt like everything had led to this moment. The silence between them felt deafening. Fay stood before Dominic, her heart pounding in her chest, unsure if this moment was the beginning of something beautiful or the unraveling of everything they had built. Their eyes locked, and for the first time in what felt like forever, there were no walls between them. Only the raw, unfiltered emotions that swirled in the space around them.Dominic's expression was one she hadn't seen in a long time— vulnerable, unsure, and conflicted. He had always been the one in control, the one who never showed his cards. But tonight, something had changed. Tonight, he was as much at the mercy of their connection as she was.Fay swallowed hard, her throat dry. Her fingers were trembling as she reached for the collar ofhis shirt, her skin tingling with every touch. She wanted to feel him, to make sure he was real, that this wasn't just a dream. Fay's heart simmered with anger, and the weight of sadness clung to her chest as she walked back into Dominic's mansion. The training session earlier had only fueled her frustration. No matter how hard she pushed herself, how much effort she put into every punch and every kick, Dominic still hadn't acknowledged her. He hadn't looked at her the way she needed him to. It wasn't just about the training. It wasn't even about the fact that she had been pushing herself to prove something to him. It was about the emptiness she felt every time she looked at him and saw that wall. The wall that separated them, the one he had built without so much as a glance in her direction. The one that she was starting to wonder if she could ever break down. She wanted him to look at her the way he used to-like she was important, like she mattered. As the evening wore on, Fay found herself alone in the mansion's vast dining room. The warmth of the food had faded, the plates untouched. Shehad hoped, in som

The room was silent except for the faint sound of the punching bag swaying in the air. Its leather surface gleamed under the harsh fluorescent lights, taunting her, challenging her. The bag had always been an impossible target for Fay, always just out of reach. She could never land a clean hit. no matter how hard she tried. But now, something was different.Fay stood a few feet away, her body tense, her fists clenched at her sides. The anger that had burned within her during the training session with Lena was still there, simmering beneath the surface. But now it was sharper, more focused. It wasn't just about proving herself anymore. It wasn't just about winning or even getting Dominic's approval. It was about more than that. She had to show him, show herself, that she was not weak. She would not be dismissed. Not now, not ever. She stared at the punching bag, her breath coming in slow, deliberate inhales. The anger that had consumed her earlier had transformed, becoming a cold, burn

The air in the training room was heavy with concentration. The students, a mix of aspiring fighters and seasoned athletes, sat in a circle, their eyes fixed on Dominic, who stood in the corner watching them. His arms were folded, his expression, unreadable. His focus, however, was not just on the group, but on one person in particular.Fay felt the weight of his gaze, even if it was brief. She could feel his presence without seeing him directly. Her chest tightened. What's wrong with him? Why is he behaving like this? Questions raced through her mind as she tried to focus on the exercise at hand. She had done her best to push thoughts of Dominic's coldness out of her mind, but it was difficult."Fay, Lena," Dominic shouted, his voice cutting through the room. Domenic's car engine roared incessantly as they drove along the winding roads, the evening air cool and heralding night. The silence between them was thick and uncomfortable, the only sound coming from the occasional horn or tires scraping the asphalt. Domenic clutched the wheel tightly, his face frozen in a stern expression. Fay, sitting in the passenger seat, glanced at him from time to time, the agitation rising in her chest. She expected the usual pleasantries, a few kind comments after the exercise, but he was distant, almost too distant. Fay shifted in her seat, trying to break the silence."Dominic?" Her voice was confused. He didn't answer. His eyes were fixed on the road ahead of them, as if all his attention was on the path they were taking.Fay frowned, feeling a pain in her heart she couldn't explain.
