ARIA'S POV

After the excitement of having Celine and Kaden in the pack died down, I'm reminded that I still have so much trauma to work through. What were the chances that I would see Kaden again? I had even forgotten about him. Many more horrendous things had happened that she didn't even stop to think about the scowling boy that she had stopped from unwittingly spilling his pack's secret.

“Luna,” she snapped out of her reverie, and Brielle came into focus. “What are you thinking that deeply about?“

She smiled and subtly avoided the question. “You look radiant. The beta treating you right?"

“You don't even want to know.“ Her friend immediately launched into the details that she certainly didn't want to know.

She blushed heavily as she imagined Lucas doing things like that to her. “You're right, Brielle, I don't want to know.“

Brielle laughed and stopped, thankfully. “Don't think I didn't notice that you didn't tell me what you were thinking about.“ Damn, maybe she wasn't so subtle th

LUCAS' POVI've been glancing at the door since morning, ever since Aria and Brielle left for the guard's station. Honestly, if it were up to me, I would keep her in the pack house with me all day, but I know that wouldn't make her happy.I can see the way she glows when she's handling some situations she never thought she would handle. For instance, just last week she had to settle a fight between two women who were fighting over a fight their kids have.“Children are as innocent as they come. I bet that by the time you both get home, they're already playing together.“ She had solved their fight with just one sentence.Yesterday, I had been surprised when her guard reported to me that she had met with Elder Dickson and even managed to convince him to be open-minded about changing some pack laws. She was actually making my job easier, so if she thinks that going to visit guards is the next best thing, then I'll let her do it.“Are you expecting someone?““No. Why do you ask?““You've

THIRD PERSON'S POVRay couldn't believe how low Maria had fallen. He knew she was angry that she had lost to that girl who would become their Luna, but he didn't think her anger would make her reckless and irrational. He watched for a few minutes as she got whipped and thanked Luna for her generosity. Damn, that was just rubbing salt on the injury. If it were a normal woman, this punishment would be the perfect way to get her to back down. Not Maria, though. This would only spur her on to get her revenge. They don't know Maria like he did. She couldn't hold her cries back, and without her wolf to take the pain for her, she would feel it twenty times deeper. “Thank you for your generosity, Luna.“ She forced out after the last stroke of whip hit her in the middle of her back. She was eventually released and dropped on her back. Her sobs were heartwrenching.“Take her to the dungeon so she can learn her lesson in solitude.“ Beta Cole boomed. Luna Aria raised her hand, and the guards dr

THIRD PERSON'S POV Alpha Kane is having one of his nightmares. This time, it's a little bit tamer. It's the one where Lori was chasing him, and he thought he would find solace in Aria when she all but shut the door on him. As usual, he woke up in a cold sweat.“Where am I?“ He thinks to himself as he experiences a brief wave of panic before he remembers that he's in his room. He hurried over to the wet bar in the nearly empty pack house to knock down a few glasses of something he doesn't even recognize. It burns his throat, so he takes a wild guess that it's whisky.“Alpha Kane,” someone says to him. “Should I serve your dinner now?““Dinner?“ He wondered how long he had been sleeping for and when he even fell asleep. He turned around, and the face before him blurred and was replaced firstly by Aria's face, and then it morphed into Lori's look of pleasure as the faceless man pumped into her.Without thinking twice, he raised his hand and gave the elderly cook a slap. A slap that sent

Third Person's POVAria had finally settled into the moonlight pack. On a normal eventless day, she knew where she would be at every point in time. In the morning, she would wake up long after Lucas had gone on his run. She would make bacon, pancakes, and waffles just in time for him to get back from his run. She would get ready while he went upstairs to get dressed. Sometimes, she would sit with him, and they would talk about anything and everything. This morning, she had gone to get dressed while he ate, and he had walked in as she dropped her robe. That was enough to make him stop in his tracks.Their gazes collided in the mirror. She was sure her own eyes held the same desire she saw in his. He was heavily aroused, and his scent was just the right shade of alluring.Like he couldn't help himself, he quickly covered the short distance between them. “You have no idea how gorgeous you look right now.“To her own surprise, she didn't even feel the slightest urge to cover herself up.

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

THIRD PERSON'S POV Alpha Lucas couldn't remember the last time he was this happy, and it was because of his little mate. He had become less snappy, and he now had a small smile for everyone in the pack. His pack was thriving, and times were peaceful. He began to think of his little mate as his good luck charm. She was the light in his world, and he thanked his stars every day that one man had been st*pid enough to let her go.He spotted her now in the pack house compound as she threw her head back in laughter at something Brielle had said. Yesterday, after the intimate session they had after her shower, he had been craving her more and more. He lost count of how many times he had caught himself daydreaming about her. He wished that he didn't have so much work to do so he could drag her to bed and have her all to himself. He observed the pretty column of her neck where her pulse fluttered. One of these days, she would finally be ready to be marked. He just had to bid his time.“My Al

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

ARIA'S POVAfter the morning Lucas and I spent together, I had been a little apprehensive, so I turned to my friend, Brielle. Since she has been mated long before me, I felt like she would know more about it. “So, what exactly is the problem? You didn't like it? Hmm, Alpha Lucas doesn't look like he can't handle a woman in bed.“I blushed. “He does know how to handle me, alright.“ The memory of his large hand on my hips grinding me on his hard length flashed through my head. "Ohhh, look at you blush.“ She cackled. “What's the problem, then?"“Marking… What is it supposed to feel like?““Oh. It depends on your partner, and generally, it's supposed to be a little bit painful but a whole lot more pleasurable.““Right?““Yes."“Lucas doesn't think I'm ready.““Your mark is going to be a little bit more painful. You're going to be Luna. Your mark might hurt more, so I think he's scared of doing it.““I think I'm ready though.““Maybe you'll tell him by yourself.“ “I don't know. What if

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

THIRD PERSON'S POV Maria reviewed the events of the days that she has had to survive ever since that girl from nowhere became the Luna. Although she couldn't say she came from nowhere. Her days had been filled with humiliation and mockery from the people who had once adored her. These people who knew her story. They had all witnessed how hard she had struggled in life. She thought it was only befitting that she become the Luna. It was her right. She had worked hard and smart. She had given it her all only for that girl to derail her plans.Any normal person would have admitted defeat and moved on with their life except Maria was not normal. She didn't even think she was a sore loser. She thought of herself as a woman who went after what she wanted aggressively without minding how it was affecting anyone else. Her parents died when she was only four years old. They had no living relative, so she was left at the mercy of the pack. Lucas' mother had been Luna then, so she was well take

LUCAS' POV“Why do you look so worried?“ I didn't even know Cole had entered. That's how deep in my thoughts I was.“Worried? More like anxious.““Well, what about it?" The packhouse was nearly empty, and Aria was not around. She had literally tricked me into letting her go to Brielle's for a girl's night. “You know I've never had a real friend, let alone a girl's night out.“ She looked up at me with those huge eyes of hers. She knows I can't say no when she looks at me like that.“But what about me?“ I was close to causing a tantrum right there and then, and I should have hated how vulnerable I sounded, but she's the only one I can be like this around. She's the only one I can show my soft side to without any reservation.“Baby,” she said softly, and I had melted. She rarely called me anything else other than my name, so it was a big deal for me. “It's just one night. You'll be fine. Before you know it, I'll be back right in your arms.“Except she lied. She left around thirty minute

ARIA'S POVThe dinner has to be perfect. Nothing must go wrong. "You keep stressing about it, baby." Lucas rasped from the bed. I guess my pacing must have woken him up. I don't know why I've been so snappy and irritable all day. I'm not one to snap at maids, but how hard is it to set the chairs at the right side? How hard is it to note down the number of chairs needed? It's very frustrating. "I'm not stressed. I just want everything to be perfect.""And it's going to be, baby. Come here to get some sleep so I can sleep. I have several important things to do.""What you're saying is this dinner isn't important?" The anger in me was rising by the minute. "You know, I've seen the way you've been nonchalant about this, and I get it, you're not the one bringing two sides of your lives together.""Whoa, whoa, I didn't mean it that way, baby." His gentle words made me burst into tears. "Come here, sweetheart." He pulled me under the covers, and I snuggled up to his warmth, which made me w

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED-ONE

THIRD PERSON'S POV "Through her necklace?" Alpha Lucas wasn't sure if he was hearing correctly. He tightened his hold on his wife. He had first known that some people who could possibly be her parents were looking for her through Oliver. That was all he had heard before he told his people to go check them out. He just wanted to make sure they were not some weirdos or anything that could pose a threat to her at all. They had turned out to be real. This was the first time he was seeing them too, and he thought they were solid so far, but this necklace talk was bothering him. "How I found her was through a silent auction that was being held." Augustine spoke up. "It was a necklace I had when I was younger. It's a stone yin and yang necklace, see?" He showed them the one on his neck and produced a similar one in black while his was white. "Of course, it could be a similar one, but there was an old picture of us wearing it, so I took it to Mum for confirmation.""I knew it was hers the

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED

ARIA'S POV The first thing that came to my mind was to hug the man in front of me. I don't know if I was in an alternative universe or something. I managed to recover my composure to raise an inquiring gaze."Luna Aria?" He said. His voice was deep and calm. Like hot cocoa in freezing winter. He spoke my name again and snapped me out of my reverie. The sound of my name coming from him felt wrong for some reason I couldn't fathom. There was a pull from him to me. I shook my head to get rid of the thought, and I realized that I had been staring at him, which was very rude of me. "You're talking to her." I said calmly enough to hide the tremors in my voice. I could certainly be an actress. He bowed lightly and introduced himself. "My name is Augustine, and these are my parents." Huh. Why can't I stop staring at him? There was something about him, and it wasn't even because of our resemblance. I hope I wasn't the only one that saw it."Can I come in?" He stared back at me with a quiet

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-EIGHT

THIRD PERSON'S POV What happened next was a blur. Zach could barely breathe with the bullet firmly lodged in his side. His life was flashing before his eyes, and he knew he had only a few minutes left to live. The blood had already seeped to reach his head. He could hear someone screaming, but it was distant. He knew he had to say something. Thankfully, Todd had come nearer to examine his beta. He didn't even know how to feel about the last two minutes. "Zoe was a spy. He was trying to help him take over the pack. He wanted to...""Stop talking, Zach. I'm going to get you help." Todd said and he meant it. There was no way he was letting him die. Todd bent over him and pressed firmly over his wound, but it was useless. He had bled out too much. "I'm not greedy, Alpha." Those were the last words he whispered before he gave up the ghost. Alpha Todd didn't have time to mourn too much because the cry of his youngest and favorite child rang out clearly. He looked up to find Augustina in

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-EIGHT

THIRD PERSON'S POV "I'm still a little bit skeptical about this Alpha's mental health." Alpha, Todd said to Zach. They both stood in front of the new glamorous pack house, waiting for the guest to arrive."It sounds insane in theory. You have seen the numbers, they're insane too, but we're both going to make a lot of money off it in the long run.""Yeah. I wouldn't have believed it if everything hadn't checked out. I guess we have a little bit of competition now.""What do you mean, Alpha?" "I sent out a messenger to slyly check on that pack yesterday to see if there's really a well and everything. He came back yesterday, and everything checks out. They do have a well, so yes, we have competition.""Huh. I didn't know you were sending anyone." Zach tried to keep his voice level so he didn't sound suspicious. "Yes, I didn't want to burden you any more than I should. I hope you find a way to resolve your wife's situation."He blanked for a moment before he remembered he was supposed

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-SEVEN

THIRD PERSON'S POV The next time Zach woke up, he was tied to a chair, and not one muscle in his body was working."Welcome. I was beginning to think you wouldn't join the party on time.""We had a deal." Zach managed to whisper. "You said I could trust you.""I didn't say anything like that, boy. It's not my fault you're so naive.""What do you want with me?""Oh. You're going to find out in a minute." Bart stood up from his chair and rounded his desk. "There's no silver, is there?""Isn't that obvious?" Alpha Bart laughed as if there was anything remotely funny about the whole situation. He cursed his own st*pidity. How could he believe something that st*pid? He would kick himself if he could move. "Of course, there's no silver.""I still don't know what you plan to achieve by holding me hostage here.""Plenty, boy. You know, when I first sent out that proposal, I told Gary here that there was no way we would get any response. You know what John told me?"A man snorted behind him,

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-SIX

THIRD PERSON'S POV Zach knew the plan was too good to be true, but he still couldn't help but pursue it. He knew he should trash the document and forget he ever saw it, but he had already made all the mental calculations in his head. They would make millions of dollars if it were true."Snap out of it, Zach. You know it can't be real." He kept telling himself but he couldn't help but open the document over and over again. He read the document over and over again until he could recite most of it by heart."This is crazy," he said to himself as he sat down to make a rough estimate and calculations. He took into account the manpower that they would need and how long it would take to have it running. By his rough calculations, the factory would be up and running in eighteen months, at most twenty-four months, and they wouldn't even have to spend one penny. That would also mean employment for the pack members. A second factory would mean more money for the pack. Maybe they could finally

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-FIVE

THIRD PERSON'S POV Zach was aware of how much influence he held in the pack. There was nothing that went on in the pack that he didn't know. More importantly than all this, he was the Alpha's most trusted man and his right hand. He was in a delicate situation because he knew how deeply paranoid his Alpha was. If he ever got a whiff that he was plotting something behind him that might pose a threat to him or his children, he wouldn't even think twice before killing him.Not that he would ever betray the Alpha, he would chop off his own hand before he hurt the Alpha and his family. Zach was always careful of the deals he brought to the Alpha's attention. He would vet it about a million times before he brought it to the Alpha's attention. As usual, when another pack wanted to make a deal with the pack, they would have to go through him. Just last week, they had spoken about how they could move the pack forward. He had even been surprised that the Alpha was talking about new developments

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-FOUR

THIRD PERSON'S POV Sixteen years ago, the lives of Alpha and Luna of the North pack changed. The North pack was the largest pack in the North, and there was only one reason for it. The North pack was the only pack in the North. They didn't start out that way. In fact, they used to be one of the smallest packs out of the ten packs that were in the North back then. Their name used to be The Bright Moon Pack. The Bright pack kept to themselves and managed their resources well. The Bright Moon pack was the only pack with high-level technology, and most importantly, their pack had a high concentration of silver. Silver trading was a major source of income in the werewolf world. Alpha Todd was wise, and he knew that this resource could become a source of misery for his pack. He knew how power-drunk people could be. Alpha Todd had to kill his own friend, his Beta, when he found out he was plotting against him. His friend's reason was that he was not monetizing their resources well. Alpha
