ARIA'S POV

I had been feeling a tingling sensation in my head ever since we stepped out of our home. I put it off as one of the changes Lucas said my body would go through. I know he said I should come to him, but he surely doesn't mean for every little thing.

The sensation had begun to intensify as we got closer, but I still didn't say anything. Surely, it would go away soon.

My vision was swarming and I could barely see anything when I spotted Brielle. She was coming towards me with her arms open. She was also saying something I couldn't comprehend when I heard a voice in my head. Multiple voices. Different emotions and expressions. Some were faint while some were loud.

“A fairy I would like to sit on my face.“ I recognized Lucas' voice as the loudest. What was happening to me?

“Aria!“ Lucas yelled. I couldn't figure out for the life of me if it was in my head or not.

“What's going on?“

“Is she going to die?“

I know I was falling backward, and I had surrendered to my bod

THIRD PERSON'S POV The entire pack was filled with chatter and excitement. The transition of the Luna was now complete. She now bore the mark of the Luna and now had access to their thoughts and emotions. It was an incredible honor to share the same link with Luna.“I felt her in my head for just a minute."“Mine was only for a brief second before it went off.““We should take gifts to the pack house later.“ It was this news that Aria had completed all the stages of being a Luna that Maria woke up to. She didn't dare to be bitter lest the people of the Moonlight pack would stone her to death. She kept all of her feelings of resentment to herself as she went about her work.Later in the afternoon, she was called on to carry parcels of gifts to the pack house. Her first thought was to poison the fruits, but that would be too rash. Where would she even find poison? No one would sell deadly leaves to her even if it was to heal herself. She was too much of a risk. Also, there was no guar

THIRD PERSON'S POVMaria woke up with a start in the dark. For a moment, she felt disconnected and disoriented. The only question that swirled through her mind was where she was. "What is this?" She whispered in the dark. For a moment, she thought about being in the moonlight pack."Think." She said to herself. She was not hurt or in pain. "What's happening to you?"Suddenly, the event of the night slammed into her. She had been taken as a rogue in the Red Moon pack!"How could you be this st*pid?" She whispered, more scared and cautious this time. She remembered what Ray had said to her about rogues caught in the Red Moon pack. "Their Alpha is batshit crazy. He's f*cking bloodthirsty. He's not going to think twice about killing a rogue. Forget a fair trial."She had shunned his words. After all, she was a big girl, and she could take care of herself. How hard could getting in a pack could be? Also, she had a plan. A good, solid plan. However, her plan had led her into this trouble.

ARIA'S POV"I'm bored." Brielle yawned beside me, and I chuckled."You're always bored." I pointed out. It was true. Brielle has the attention span of a five-year-old. She always had to be doing something."This is different." She whined. "Why can't we go out?""Who says you can't go out?" I shot her a side eye, which she conveniently ignored."You. I can't leave you here.""You're free to go. I'm going to be fine, you know that.""I can't do anything fun without you." She whined again. Her whining only made me feel good. I love that she can't enjoy herself without me. It filled me with bliss, in fact."I'm going to convince Lucas to let me out tomorrow.""You know he won't." She retorted."True." Ever since my mark became prominent, he has become more overprotective. Because I still can't get a hold on my emotions, he forbade me from leaving his sight.I had told him times without number that I was okay to go out on my own. I understood his fear. All the rush of emotion I was feeling

LUCAS' POV"How's the Luna doing?" Cole asked as he plopped down on the chair."Fine." I sighed, rubbing my temple. The truth was I was stressed. Aria's health was a source of concern for me. The mark was taking a toll on her. She was not telling me how she was really feeling. Mind-blocking and mind-linking were taking a toll on her. She wasn't getting a good grasp on it. I always reminded her that there was no rush, but she thought she was a failure for not getting it on time."Should we bring in a specialist to help her?""We can do that?""Yes." Why didn't I think about that?"Please look into it.""Yes, Alpha." Teaching her personally was stressing her out because she thought she had to get it right once. I had never been in a position where I had to teach someone how to do those things. I always thought it was natural but clearly not. "I'm going to go check on her now.""Yes, Alpha." I quickly climbed up the stairs, nodding at a few maids and guards that were hanging around. I

LUCAS' POVOrdinarily, getting access to another pack was easy. All you had to do was get your Alpha to sign the pack's letterhead that you had been granted access to leave your pack and cross into another territory. Werewolves do not take territory and space lightly. It was a very big deal. All this had to be done so you could enter a pack. Your own pack is on friendly terms with.Crescent Moon pack is definitely not on the list of packs we're friendly with, I thought to myself as we waited for Head Guard Morgan to bring in the "rogues"."What do you think they want?" I turned to Cole, who looked like he was deep in thought."I've been trying to think of many reasons, but the most viable one is that they need us to partner with them.""They could write a formal letter. Why sneak in?""That's the only flaw to it. I guess we have to wait for answers."Promptly, Head Guard Morgan knocked and pushed the door open without waiting for a response. He walked in with two men, and I tried to p

LUCAS' POVI was officially in a tight spot. Three days after Oliver and Dee arrived in my pack, I still didn't know what to do with them. They were not lying, but I could not afford to get involved with them.Cole reminded me of the fact every time. Just this morning, the spies we sent to Crescent Moon pack came back to confirm the boys' story."My Alpha, I can say that the situation is even more dire than they reported. The members of the pack are absolutely terrified that the mad Alpha might come back and they might not survive it this time around." The spy said."What about the elders thing?""That's all true. We couldn't double-check because we couldn't afford to get caught in that pack, but according to what we heard from the pack members, there are about five elders that want the mad Alpha to take over so they could make more money from selling their weapons.""Alright, good job." They had bowed and left Cole and I in my office."Well, there you have it. They're not lying." I s

LUCAS' POVAfter all the soul-baring Aria did last night, she was exhausted and drained, so I let her sleep in. Some of the things she had told me chilled me to the bones. I was convinced that there was a special reason why she was hated so much. She didn't mention a thing about her parents, and I didn't push it. She probably had no memory of them. Alpha Kane was especially cruel to her, and I deduced that he was jealous of her. He didn't know what to do with the jealousy, so he turned around and bullied her so he could feel better about the fact that his mother loved Aria more than she loved him.“The only reason he couldn't throw me out after she died was because she had made him swear to her on her deathbed that he wouldn't throw me out. He kept his promise until I got banished, though.“ She had admitted.“I'm sorry.“ That was the only thing I kept repeating despite the ache in my chest. I was so angry, but I had to focus on her. I had to focus on cradling her in my arms and makin

ARIA'S POVThat morning, I woke up more refreshed than ever. Fortunately, I felt better than after talking to Lucas. I didn't feel the familiar tremors I usually felt whenever I was talking about anything that had to do with my past. He was so patient with me. He didn't refute the fact that my experiences were valid. He didn't negate my feelings. He accepted it and made me feel better. He kissed me after every experience and promised that would never happen to me again. “You're such a brave woman. My strong, brave, beautiful woman.“ He had said.“I always feel like such a girl. Like a lost, lonely girl.““Your inner child isn't satisfied yet. I'm going to please her so much. I won't stop until you feel like the strong, beautiful woman I see.““When Brielle gave me the ointment to clear my scar, I could not bring myself to erase some of the scars. Like some of the scars I got for some things I didn't do anything but I got whipped for. You know that one on my lower back from Alpha Ka

ARIA'S POVThe dinner has to be perfect. Nothing must go wrong. "You keep stressing about it, baby." Lucas rasped from the bed. I guess my pacing must have woken him up. I don't know why I've been so snappy and irritable all day. I'm not one to snap at maids, but how hard is it to set the chairs at the right side? How hard is it to note down the number of chairs needed? It's very frustrating. "I'm not stressed. I just want everything to be perfect.""And it's going to be, baby. Come here to get some sleep so I can sleep. I have several important things to do.""What you're saying is this dinner isn't important?" The anger in me was rising by the minute. "You know, I've seen the way you've been nonchalant about this, and I get it, you're not the one bringing two sides of your lives together.""Whoa, whoa, I didn't mean it that way, baby." His gentle words made me burst into tears. "Come here, sweetheart." He pulled me under the covers, and I snuggled up to his warmth, which made me w

THIRD PERSON'S POV "Through her necklace?" Alpha Lucas wasn't sure if he was hearing correctly. He tightened his hold on his wife. He had first known that some people who could possibly be her parents were looking for her through Oliver. That was all he had heard before he told his people to go check them out. He just wanted to make sure they were not some weirdos or anything that could pose a threat to her at all. They had turned out to be real. This was the first time he was seeing them too, and he thought they were solid so far, but this necklace talk was bothering him. "How I found her was through a silent auction that was being held." Augustine spoke up. "It was a necklace I had when I was younger. It's a stone yin and yang necklace, see?" He showed them the one on his neck and produced a similar one in black while his was white. "Of course, it could be a similar one, but there was an old picture of us wearing it, so I took it to Mum for confirmation.""I knew it was hers the

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED

ARIA'S POV The first thing that came to my mind was to hug the man in front of me. I don't know if I was in an alternative universe or something. I managed to recover my composure to raise an inquiring gaze."Luna Aria?" He said. His voice was deep and calm. Like hot cocoa in freezing winter. He spoke my name again and snapped me out of my reverie. The sound of my name coming from him felt wrong for some reason I couldn't fathom. There was a pull from him to me. I shook my head to get rid of the thought, and I realized that I had been staring at him, which was very rude of me. "You're talking to her." I said calmly enough to hide the tremors in my voice. I could certainly be an actress. He bowed lightly and introduced himself. "My name is Augustine, and these are my parents." Huh. Why can't I stop staring at him? There was something about him, and it wasn't even because of our resemblance. I hope I wasn't the only one that saw it."Can I come in?" He stared back at me with a quiet

THIRD PERSON'S POV What happened next was a blur. Zach could barely breathe with the bullet firmly lodged in his side. His life was flashing before his eyes, and he knew he had only a few minutes left to live. The blood had already seeped to reach his head. He could hear someone screaming, but it was distant. He knew he had to say something. Thankfully, Todd had come nearer to examine his beta. He didn't even know how to feel about the last two minutes. "Zoe was a spy. He was trying to help him take over the pack. He wanted to...""Stop talking, Zach. I'm going to get you help." Todd said and he meant it. There was no way he was letting him die. Todd bent over him and pressed firmly over his wound, but it was useless. He had bled out too much. "I'm not greedy, Alpha." Those were the last words he whispered before he gave up the ghost. Alpha Todd didn't have time to mourn too much because the cry of his youngest and favorite child rang out clearly. He looked up to find Augustina in

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-EIGHT

THIRD PERSON'S POV "I'm still a little bit skeptical about this Alpha's mental health." Alpha, Todd said to Zach. They both stood in front of the new glamorous pack house, waiting for the guest to arrive."It sounds insane in theory. You have seen the numbers, they're insane too, but we're both going to make a lot of money off it in the long run.""Yeah. I wouldn't have believed it if everything hadn't checked out. I guess we have a little bit of competition now.""What do you mean, Alpha?" "I sent out a messenger to slyly check on that pack yesterday to see if there's really a well and everything. He came back yesterday, and everything checks out. They do have a well, so yes, we have competition.""Huh. I didn't know you were sending anyone." Zach tried to keep his voice level so he didn't sound suspicious. "Yes, I didn't want to burden you any more than I should. I hope you find a way to resolve your wife's situation."He blanked for a moment before he remembered he was supposed

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-SEVEN

THIRD PERSON'S POV The next time Zach woke up, he was tied to a chair, and not one muscle in his body was working."Welcome. I was beginning to think you wouldn't join the party on time.""We had a deal." Zach managed to whisper. "You said I could trust you.""I didn't say anything like that, boy. It's not my fault you're so naive.""What do you want with me?""Oh. You're going to find out in a minute." Bart stood up from his chair and rounded his desk. "There's no silver, is there?""Isn't that obvious?" Alpha Bart laughed as if there was anything remotely funny about the whole situation. He cursed his own st*pidity. How could he believe something that st*pid? He would kick himself if he could move. "Of course, there's no silver.""I still don't know what you plan to achieve by holding me hostage here.""Plenty, boy. You know, when I first sent out that proposal, I told Gary here that there was no way we would get any response. You know what John told me?"A man snorted behind him,

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-SIX

THIRD PERSON'S POV Zach knew the plan was too good to be true, but he still couldn't help but pursue it. He knew he should trash the document and forget he ever saw it, but he had already made all the mental calculations in his head. They would make millions of dollars if it were true."Snap out of it, Zach. You know it can't be real." He kept telling himself but he couldn't help but open the document over and over again. He read the document over and over again until he could recite most of it by heart."This is crazy," he said to himself as he sat down to make a rough estimate and calculations. He took into account the manpower that they would need and how long it would take to have it running. By his rough calculations, the factory would be up and running in eighteen months, at most twenty-four months, and they wouldn't even have to spend one penny. That would also mean employment for the pack members. A second factory would mean more money for the pack. Maybe they could finally

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-FIVE

THIRD PERSON'S POV Zach was aware of how much influence he held in the pack. There was nothing that went on in the pack that he didn't know. More importantly than all this, he was the Alpha's most trusted man and his right hand. He was in a delicate situation because he knew how deeply paranoid his Alpha was. If he ever got a whiff that he was plotting something behind him that might pose a threat to him or his children, he wouldn't even think twice before killing him.Not that he would ever betray the Alpha, he would chop off his own hand before he hurt the Alpha and his family. Zach was always careful of the deals he brought to the Alpha's attention. He would vet it about a million times before he brought it to the Alpha's attention. As usual, when another pack wanted to make a deal with the pack, they would have to go through him. Just last week, they had spoken about how they could move the pack forward. He had even been surprised that the Alpha was talking about new developments

  • HER SECOND CHANCE MATE   CHAPTER NINETY-FOUR

THIRD PERSON'S POV Sixteen years ago, the lives of Alpha and Luna of the North pack changed. The North pack was the largest pack in the North, and there was only one reason for it. The North pack was the only pack in the North. They didn't start out that way. In fact, they used to be one of the smallest packs out of the ten packs that were in the North back then. Their name used to be The Bright Moon Pack. The Bright pack kept to themselves and managed their resources well. The Bright Moon pack was the only pack with high-level technology, and most importantly, their pack had a high concentration of silver. Silver trading was a major source of income in the werewolf world. Alpha Todd was wise, and he knew that this resource could become a source of misery for his pack. He knew how power-drunk people could be. Alpha Todd had to kill his own friend, his Beta, when he found out he was plotting against him. His friend's reason was that he was not monetizing their resources well. Alpha
