Emilia~

Mirrors. I've been spending more time in front of mirrors lately.

The wonderful thing about mirrors, is not just the fact that they reflect back our image. If one dares to look very closely, you might be able to see more than just mere reflections.

I was currently sitting in front of one, absent-mindedly combing my long, brown hair, while Chloe fixated her expectant gaze on me from behind.

We had been arguing back and forth about the same topic for days now, and I had no intention of continuing like that. I had already told her she was free to leave, if that was what she wanted.

"You should come with me." She said again for the umpteenth time, and I resisted the urge to groan in frustration.

What part of "I can't" can't she just understand? It has already been established that nobody can possibly save me from Marcelo.

"I know a place. He will never find us there." She continued with her persuasions.

A low, humorless chuckle escaped me at her naivety. A place where Marcelo wo

Emilia~After long hours of travelling, we finally arrive at a small, dusty apartment, in the middle of a quiet, remote town.Sicily was now far behind us, and this here was looking like a new opportunity to start something better. Chloe let out a sneeze in an allergic reaction to the dust, covering almost every surface in this apartment.I noticed that most of the furnitures were made of wood, in contrast to the mansion, where you had expensive glass tables and high quality, leather sofas. I loved the simplicity."Tada!" Chloe sang excitedly, as she raised up the blinds, allowing sunlight to filter properly into the house.I almost laughed out loud at her antics, as she gave the impression of an excited, little girl. There were a few things that appeared to be out of place, but I shrugged of the thought of complaining about them. Since I'll be staying here, I might as well be ready for a whole lot of change. I should be ready to adapt."What do you think?" Chloe was suddenly in fro

Emilia~Mrs. Brooks turned out to be such a sweet person, and I was right about my sister swindling her of her hard earned money."What? How was I supposed to know that she's still alive?" Chloe whined, as I glared daggers at her from across the dining table."How much?" I asked her in a serious tone, hoping that it was going to be an amount we could pay back.Chloe hesitated a bit, before finally blurting out the answer."Ten grands-ish?" She said, and I found myself choking on my own saliva."Ten what?!" I shrieked in utter disbelief, not realizing how loud I was being."Everything okay there?" Mrs. Brooks asked out loud from the kitchen, and I willed myself to come down.Out of the kindness of her heart, she had offered to host us for dinner tonight, as we didn't really get the chance to shop for groceries. I still couldn't fathom why anybody would want to scam an old widow like her."All good, ma'am!" I answered her, still not taking my eyes off Chloe. Mrs. Brooks remained silent

Marcelo~Gone. Emilia was gone.I sat in the large jacuzzi, absent-mindedly smoking my cigar, and ignoring the man in front of me.For some reason, the whole mansion suddenly feels less warmer, and a tad bit darker. Was it because I had gotten so used to having her around? I prefer not to think of it like that. Two separate pair of hands roamed my bare upper body, in a bid to soothe my tensed up muscles. They belonged to the most experienced and erotic masseuses in the whole of Sicily and still, their touch felt nothing like hers. If I were to go ahead and have them both on my bed, I doubt they'd even feel half as good as Emilia too. Yet, I was still somehow able to keep my cool. Emilia's disappearance didn't really come as much of a surprise to me.I let out a puff of smoke, as another one of my men emerged through the giant, double doors.I could already tell what he wanted to say, before he even said it. He was among the few sent out to find Emilia and bring her home. "Boss!" He

  • HER ONLY CRIME   Darkness

Emilia~It's been over a month since we moved into this town, and I was beyond pleased with how life has been treating us here. The people were very nice and welcoming. They almost never had disagreements or conflicts among each other. I didn't know if it was because I was new around here, but they were especially very gentle with me. Chloe on the other hand, seemed to be friends with almost everyone.I later got to find out that Jennie owned the biggest diner in the whole town, and it suddenly made sense how she's such a good cook. With a little persuading, I was able to get her to hire me as a waitress and thus, I landed my first job ever. Although it now meant that Jennie was now my boss and my landlady.I was elated, because since I was a teenager, I had always wanted a job. I had always been interested in the idea of going out every day and making my own money. I wanted to be able to buy whatever I needed for myself, and I finally got that chance through Jennie.A smile stretc

Emilia~Hospitals have always had a particular smell that makes me really sick to the stomach. It was one of the reasons I hated visiting as a kid , and yet here I was, admitted like every other patient. The obnoxious beeping sounds coming from the heart monitor and other machines around were what I was waking up to."Fuck!" I muttered, as my eyes slowly fluttered open.I painfully tried to adjust my eyesight to the brightness of the the ward that I was in. Another thing, the last time I was in a hospital, a man dressed like a doctor was trying to kill me."I knew there was something wrong with you."I turned to see Chloe standing at a corner of my bed, narrowing her eyes at me. A smile threatened to stretch my lips, when I realized that she must have been worried sick about me.I suddenly remembered the diner, Jennie and the customer from earlier. My eyes widened as I sat up in panic, and that was when I realized that I had a number of tubes attached to my arm."How long have I been

Emilia~I looked at Chloe in utter disbelief, taken aback by the words that were coming out of her mouth."Don't look at me like that, Emil!" She scoffed."You know I'm telling you facts." Angry tears threatened to spill from my eyes, and I instinctively clenched my fists beside me.Chloe was suggesting that I 'get rid' of the unborn child, a child that was every bit of mine, as much as she was Marcelo's. This is also a child that would grow up to know her as an aunt. She wanted me to simply get rid of it."You're asking me to kill my unborn child!" I seethed."There's nothing factual about that, Chloe." She suddenly took several steps forward, till she was right in front of me. Her eyes held a very cold and ruthless stare, as they bored right into mine."Then you must get ready to bid your newly acquired freedom a sad farewell." She spat."...or you think you can just raise that child all on your own, without Marcelo's knowledge?" A humorless chuckle escaped her lips, as she saw

Marcelo~I threw the bottle of whiskey at the wall in front of me, watching it shatter into tiny pieces. My office was a total wreck, as I had spent the last thirty minutes, taking out my anger on any object I could get hold of."Dammit!" I roared, knocking some more bottles of whiskey to the ground.Martinez stood at the doorway, totally unfazed by my tantrum. He was actually the only one who can stand being around me in this state. He wasn't bluffing about my father no longer being behind bars. I had clearly underestimated my father's ability once again, and it infuriated me to no end.He was able to pull some strings to get himself out of prison and now, he was in hiding."I should have fucking killed him!" I yelled out in frustration and anger.Martinez's cellphone suddenly rang out, and I turned to glare at him as he calmly answered the phone. I watched his expression change from total calmness to agitation in just a matter of seconds, and my interest was instantly piqued."What

"She's carrying a child, Marcelo." I froze, in total disbelief of what I just heard."So, you can go ahead and kill me." My father smirked."Once my people don't hear from me in the next few hours, they'll be sending her dead body to you." He threatened.I hesitantly let go of my father, signifying to my men to lower their weapons too.He was clearly several steps ahead of me, and had the upper hand in this situation."That's right, son! Show some respect." He taunted, as he casually straightened out a few creases on his shirt. Oh, he had no idea how much 'respect' I wanted to show him."You still haven't told me what you're really here for." I said in a hostile tone.My father looked up at me, before casually pinching my cheek like he always did when I was younger."Ey, don't be like that, son!" He said in a low, husky voice. I resisted the urge to shudder at his attempt to make us look like we shared some kind of bond."I just got out of jail. Don't tell me I'm not allowed to com

I whispered to Marcelo, as we linked our arms together in front of the makeshift aisle.A number of Marcelo's men, allies and well wishers were now gathered for our union as couples. I warmed my heart to see them all gathered in support of us.Marcelo looked me right in the eyes, before leaning forward to kiss me on the cheek. It gave me instant butterflies like it was the first time."Hell yeah!" He whispered into my ear, making me smile like some teenage girl with a highschool crush."You go girl!" I turned to see Jennie cheering me on from among the small crowd gathered. She had little Chloe in her arms and the latte

  • HER ONLY CRIME   Gone

Emilia~"The Boss is in trouble." She told me."Little Chloe was never the actual target. Donatello has always wanted our boss by all means."I wondered how such an obvious fact could fly right over my head. I should have known that the whole time.Marcelo's father was a psychopath who is hellbent on ruining his son's life. He had been doing that since Marcelo was just a kid, wanting to turn his own son into a heartless monster. The reason he wanted to get rid of me so badly was because he always saw me as a threat to his plans. Donatello had always known that as long as I was in his son's life, he won't be able to have full control over the latter. After killing his mother right in front of him, he still had the guts to continue ruining his life. It was my responsibility to save Marcelo from him."Can't you go any faster?" I shouted at Andre, who was already driving as fast as the car could take us.Donatello had planted a bomb in the church that was supposed to serve as a venue for

Emilia~I looked down at the trembling maid with a scowl. She had been serving in this mansion for years, which also made her one of the most trusted members of the staff. She misused that trust."Tell me one good reason why I shouldn't let them kill you." I spat, making her whimper in fear. For some reasons however, it felt like that fear wasn't just directed at me. She was afraid of someone way scarier, and I already had a good idea of who that was."Please, Miss...you have to believe me!" She pleaded with widened eyes, trying to grab me by the hem of my gown.I stepped away from her, keeping the unfriendly scowl on my face. She did try to kidnap my daughter, who was barely a month old. "I didn't want to do it!" She cried out."I didn't want to do it, he made me do it!""Donatello made me do it!" I wasn't surprised by her confession. It was something I and Marcelo had already known and anticipated for a while now. We knew Donatello would try to make such dirty move, and we were re

Emilia~I beamed at my reflection in the mirror, feeling all kinds of warm emotions rush through me.The last time I was in a wedding gown, I wasn't smiling this big. I wasn't even wearing the gown because I wanted to.I thought about how much has changed since then, and it all happened when one particular, green-eyed, Mafia boss made his way into my life.I initially fought hard against the feelings I had for Marcelo, but time has made me to realize that falling for him wasn't even a bad thing. I was shamelessly in love with someone who is considered "dangerous", a notorious crime boss, who is now the father of my child, and my husband to be. A criminal he is, and being associated with him should also make me one. Crime has never really been a hobby for me, but this one was way too good of an offer for me to pass. Falling for Marcelo Del Ponte, was my first criminal act. It is my only crime, and one I'd love to commit all over again."Mrs. Emilia Del Ponte." Jennie whispered gleeful

  • HER ONLY CRIME   Together

Emilia~Little Chloe was fast asleep now. She had spent most of the day being her usual loud self, and basically demanding attention from everyone in the mansion. Even the household staff would begin to run around, whenever she starts her usual tantrums. She sure has her father's fiery temper, and the thought of it made me smile. It's been over a month since her birth, and Marcelo hasn't been around as much as he used to be. Whenever he was around, he was usually either down in the basement or busy doing some mafia business with his men. He was gradually becoming too busy, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried. It felt like he was returning to his cold, distant self again, and I knew I had a responsibility to make sure it never happens. I took one last glance at my sleeping child, before turning around to leave her in the cradle. My hand found the light switch and I flipped it off.Stepping out of Chloe's room, I was a little surprised to see Marcelo standing on the balcony. H

Marcelo~"How dare you?!" I roared in fury, throwing a punch at the face of the man in front of me.He was already looking like a bloodied pulp, courtesy of me. Maybe he wasn't so easy to break like I initially thought."How dare you try to defend a monster like Donatello?" I yelled out in frustration, not understanding how my father is able to command such loyalty. This man was literally ready to die for him.A small, choked laughter escaped his lips, causing my frown to deepen and my fists to clench tighter.I was about to hit him again, when my arm was suddenly stopped by Andre. I turned around to hiss at the latter, but his hold on my arm didn't seem to budge. His grip was as sturdy as a vice, and he had a blank expression on his face. "You've been at it for hours, Boss!" He said, looking down at the man."At this rate, you'll just end up killing him."I suddenly snatched my arm away from his grip, gritting my teeth at him in rage."Then, so be it!" I growled."He deserves to die

Marcelo~"Where the fuck is Andre?" I hissed at the man in front of me, before brushing past him and storming forward.Normally I'd gladly handle business, but today was one of those days I'd rather not. It's barely been hours since my woman just gave birth to our little, baby girl and I wanted more than anything to be there with them. I already felt like I was missing out on something important."He's supposed to be here! He's supposed to be the one handling business!" I protested."I'm afraid it's not something even you would want us to handle without your involvement, Boss." His statement made me freeze in my track. Was it really that important? I slowly turned around to face him, and I could see the hint of urgency in his eyes. "What the hell is going on?" I asked, taking a few steps towards him."We found him, Boss" I frowned at the vague piece of information he gave me, looking at him for an explanation. Who was he talking about? My father?"We found Donatello." It felt as

Emilia~"It's a girl!" I let out a sigh of relief at the sound of my crying newborn. My breathing was ragged and I could hardly keep my eyes opened. It was all worth it though.A small, weak smile made its way to my face as I saw our child being handed over to a wide eyed Marcelo. I didn't think I'd ever seen that particular expression on his face before. He was having his first taste of fatherhood, and I happily watched him relish the moment. It's barely been over an hour since our little girl arrived, and she was already so loud. Marcelo didn't seem to mind however, as he cradled her in his arms like some delicate, expensive work of art.His green eyes were reflecting so much love and warmth towards our little one, and that scene right there was a very perfect picture to me. It was one I've always wanted, even without me knowing; the man I love, carrying our first child in his arms. Right then and there, I had no doubt that he would do anything in his power to protect our baby gir

  • HER ONLY CRIME   Stay, Marcelo!

Marcelo~Ever since I found out about Emilia's pregnancy, I've been preparing for this very moment. I made sure she got the required rest and nutrition, always being there to support her through the challenges of carrying a new life inside her.I made sure to book her appointments with the best health care specialists, even going as far as inviting them over to the mansion. As at now, I had a medical team on standby, since I knew she was almost due. This was her first attempt to birth a child and I would hate for her to encounter any unpleasant situation.Despite the fact that I had put in that much effort, I couldn't help the fear and nerve wracking feeling that coursed through me. I paced restlessly in the corridor, listening to all the noises coming from the delivery room. Of course I couldn't go in. I didn't know if I could handle seeing her in so much pain.Dammit! Why do I have to be such a fucking pussy, right at this moment? "She's a strong woman. She'll survive." Andre, my
