The voice startled me. I knew what awaited me if I ever got caught. I was scared out of my mind, and I didn't know when I let the portrait go and it crashed on the floor.

"No no no," I heard him scream out as it broke into tiny pieces.

"I'm sorry....... I...I... I'm sorry." I kept apologizing while I bent down to pick up the broken glasses on the floor.

"Amber, what are you doing?" I heard Kiara's voice from behind him.

"I came to find you... and I..." I stuttered, picking up the glasses.

"Get out!" he screamed with a stern voice. His voice sent fear down my spine and I shivered, his face was lined with anger and the pain he was trying so hard to cover up.

It was then that it dawned on me that I had opened up a box he had closed a long time ago. The wound ran deeper than I could imagine, and his eyes were those of a wounded beast.

"I'm...... I'm .....sorry," I said almost in tears. I had to apologize for opening up his old wound, and of course, we all knew the faith that awaited me.

It has been a few weeks since Axios left the house, and I haven't laid eyes on him ever since. I guess he meant business this time around.I was a prisoner in this god-forsaken mansion, with guards watching my every step. The days went by in agonizing slowness, and I only had Kiara to keep me company. No one knew what he wanted from me or why he bought me at the auction, but I have concluded that he acquired me just to bore me to death.I fall asleep and wake up every morning alone, and tired of the day already. I didn't know what was wrong with me, something deep down kept longing for his return, Am I craving to hear his deep voice even for just a second, or am I just stupid? I found myself glued to the window, hoping he would drive in any minute. I was assigned two guards who followed me almost everywhere, except the bathroom, of course. I guess my little escape stuff and wandering around the house earned me the guards.None of the guards were willing to talk to me; I guess talkin

Fear engulfed me immediately, and I stood up from the chair at the sound of that far too familiar voice. I have only spent a few weeks here, but I have become so accustomed to that damned voice that I see myself craving to hear it just for a second. I turned around to see him staring at me while wearing a mischievous grin.I had longed for him to be back, waiting by the window just to be the first to see him when he got back, but seeing him right now, the only thing I felt was fear for my life.I moved hastily away from him, but I guess I wasn't careful with my steps. I stepped on one foot with the other, and I fell."Is this fate or something? I might not let you go if you fall the third time," Damian said, smiling at me.I was speechless, staring at him wide-eyed, but I didn't move an inch as he held me in his arms."Damian, it's your funeral, not fate." His voice brought us back to reality."Capo!" he called out and quickly let go of me."Put a finger on her again, and I will chop

"You are awake." I heard Kira's voice as I was slowly regaining consciousness. The room was a bit dark, with only the bedside lamp on. I was a little confused by what was going on."Thank heavens, you are okay," she said, disappearing out of the room before I had the opportunity to ask her anything.Everything in the room looked strange to me; I had no idea where I was or what had happened earlier. I tried getting up from the bed, but my head was a little too heavy for me to handle.I laid back down immediately. I tried calling out to Kira, but my voice wasn't loud enough, or would I say it was lost?"Hurry, please." I heard Kira's voice from outside the door. She pulled open the door and got in. She quickly came to my side, holding my hands while patting my hair."You will be fine, Amber," she assured me while I just stared at her like a moron, obviously ignorant of what was happening around her.I turned to the other side when I felt someone's touch. He was busy feeling my pulse. He

He ambushed me, and I was too shocked to say a word. I kept staring at him like a moron; I didn't know what to say or how to respond to those words."You should rest now; I'm never going to leave your side ever again," he said, running his fingers through my hair before he got up.I was still shocked; my head suddenly became hollow, and there was no sound coming out of my mouth. I just stared on as he kissed my forehead and headed for the door. The instant he closed the door, it was as if I suddenly became aware of my surroundings. I had a lot of thoughts going through my head.I blinked as many times as possible to be sure I didn't hit my head and wake up on another planet."Hold on, am I dreaming?" I asked myself, and I pinched myself, and it hurt like hell.I nearly screamed when I realized that it was no dream.I stayed awake all through the night wondering why he would say those things to me; it sounded a little too strange to be true."Is he finally going to kill me?" I quickly made my way to the elevator and pressed the button while waiting for the door to pull open.I kept glancing from one side to another while praying I don't get caught.I turned around to see one of Axios's guys coming out of the shop and heading toward the restroom."Shit! Shit! Shit! " I exclaimed while tapping on the button impatiently. It seemed like the universe in its glory was working against me; the elevator was taking longer than usual to open. I wanted to be out of here before they realized that I was gone, but it seemed like escaping from Axios was a mission impossible.I glanced back to see the guard speaking to Miss Lover Call, who had been standing outside all this while. I guess she hadn't realized that I wasn't in the restroom anymore. The guard walked a few steps away from her but stopped the instant he saw the manager coming towards the restroom."Fuck you, door, open already!" I cursed silently. It was only a matter of time before someone went inside the re

I sat on the floor, unable to move, and stricken with fear. I was unsure of what awaited me, but I knew I was done for."Please, just let me go," I begged tears flooding my eyes. He chuckled, his beautiful gray eyes filled with mischief. "I wish I could let you go, Mate," Axios said. He bent down a bit to meet my gaze. I quickly looked away weeping, I continued begging for my life. Hoping he would hear me out this once. "I don't want to go back with you," I said while sobbing."Oh, you will, and you must submit to me!" He caressed my cheeks, smiling wickedly.I thought I had escaped from Axio's grip; I thought I was free forever, but here I am standing face-to-face with my owner.I kept wondering how he found me. I can't remember telling him anything about where I was from. How he knew where to find me was a mystery to me."How did you find me?" My eyes widened the moment I saw him walking towards me; he was only putting on jean trousers and was bare-chested, I was taken aback by his well-defined muscles covered in blood. He was a mess with the smell of sweat and blood. I was supposed to be repulsed by the smell, but for some insane reason, I found myself loving it."We should get going, Mate," he whispered into my ears, making me go crazy. My head felt woozy instantly, but I quickly regained composure.I silently trailed behind him. I took a glance at his feet, and for the first time, I noticed he was walking barefoot."What the hell?" I was beginning to wonder what happened to his clothes and shoes—did he throw them away while running from the tattooed men, or did he probably exchange his life for his clothes and shoes?"He didn't rub blood on his body, so he wouldn't be embarrassed for running like a coward, did he?" I said to myself,"Don't be ridiculous, mate," he replied, his gray eyes piercing my heart in two."I didn'

I could feel my heartbeat racing and the burning to go down with him without a thought. All I could think of was his hands ravaging every inch of my body, claiming it for his. He leaned in tilting his head a little, my breathing increased and every fiber in me yearned for him, he cupped my cheeks with both hands, setting my body on fire. He took my lips in a kiss, I threw my hands over his shoulders, cupping his neck, cheering him on and he grabbed my hips pulling me in. While he ravaged my lips with his, kissing every inch of my mouth, I groaned as my core kept throbbing so hard, begging for more action. "Mhhmmm" he groaned as my lips trailed off to his neck, kissing him like a hungry lion. While he fondled my hair, I took his ear lobe in my mouth, licking it like my life depended on it, he kept groaning, driving me insane. It made me feel invincible that I could make him feel this way. I was craving for more of him, he lifted me from off the bed, and I snaked my legs around hi

"I should call a doctor to run some tests on you," he said, stroking my hair gently. "What happened?" I asked him, wondering what I was doing in bed. "You just blacked out, I checked, and you were soundly asleep," he replied, looking at me affectionately.I have no idea what is going on. I blacked out in that room a few days ago after seeing stuff I don't even understand. Now I blacked out again. I was still lost in thought when I heard some sounds coming from down the stairs, then a fuss at the door. "What is that sound?" I asked. "Don't get off the bed; let me see who it is," he hurriedly said before leaving the room. There was something off. Axios house hasn't been this busy ever since I came here. I wonder what is going on outside. "Ouch!" I screamed, grabbing my head. It keeps thrusting hard, it sometimes feels like something is crawling on the skin, and I always feel hot, as if my body were covered in hot coal. Maybe it's just all in my head. "Tada!!" "The only daughter of late Geoffrey Preston""Is she?""She once had a thing with Capo, but it didn't last long, though she is one of the few that lasted more than a night," Damian continued, but suddenly paused and whispered some inaudible words to himself. Well, I was glad it flowed out of his mouth before he shushed himself up. "Did she now?" I said as I gave him a thorough look. I could tell he was a little anxious, but I didn't give a damn, and I stormed off to the room. I banged the door the very minute I got in, worried that he was in there with some half-naked chick, I should trust Axios, I quickly reminded myself. But how the fuck am I supposed to trust that naked, sneaky bitch?I was pacing the room nonstop while checking the clock every minute. I jerked off the bed each time I heard a door open, wondering if the meeting was over already. My face fell at each false alarm, and I swore at him for staying so long in the study wit

I opened my eyes to a faintly lit room. My vision was a little blurry, and I tossed from one side of the bed to the other. When my vision became clear, I couldn't quite figure out where I was or why my head was aching. I was still lost in thought when images of me in that weird room flashed before my eyes. I suddenly became apprehensive when I finally remembered that I had fainted in that room. I turned to see a figure sitting on the couch. "I can't possibly still be inside the weird room," I silently asked myself. I looked away, scared as fuck, as I didn't want to make eye contact with whomever it was. "Someone must have found me." I tried convincing myself while looking around the room, scared to my bones. I don't know what I would do if I were still lying in that haunted room. I turned to the side to see a bedside lamp giving off light. "This is the bedside lamp in Axios room," I silently said to myself as I continued looking around the room. There was a rush of cold wind, and

Tiger might not be a wolf, but he was a beast on the battlefield. He didn't miss any, as he killed every last one of them. Kiara and I kept exchanging glances as he continued his onslaught. Within a few minutes, the ground was littered with dead bodies. "Are you okay, ma'am?" he asked the instant he pulled the car open. Honestly, I feel like hugging him right now. I nodded my head in response, as I couldn't get myself to say a word. "I should get you home, ma'am," he said, stretching his hands to help me get down. I grabbed onto his hands as he led me to the car he came with. I looked back to see Kiara had already gotten out of the car and was standing over one of our attackers. "I guess she had her fair share of shock also," I thought to myself as he pulled open the car. I got into the car, Kiara and the driver entered the car when they were done transferring our stuff into the car, and Tiger drove off. We drove back to the house in silence. I got out of the car the minute it ca

I was in shock and unable to get off the chair when he was done with his story. I became ashamed of myself for ever thinking he was a monster. I stood up from the chair I had been sitting in all this while and moved close to him. It was a little dark in the room except for the lamp that was giving off light. Looking at the scar on his chest, I could feel my blood boiling, and a tear escaped my eyes. "Please don't cry," Axios said as he cupped my cheeks in his hand. Every shred of fear was swept away as the tears flowed helplessly. It was one of the saddest stories I have ever heard, and for some reason, my heart was in pain. I caressed the scar on his chest as the tears continued flowing. "Is it painful?" I asked him, staring into his eyes. "Not anymore; would you stop crying, please? I can't stand seeing you cry," he whispered. He gathered into his arms and I willingly went to him. * * * * *One week later It has been awfully quiet these few days. I spent almost every sin

AXIOS'S POVI was shocked to see myself on the ground, with scattered pieces of wood lying on the ground around me. I looked around, and I guess they dropped the coffin on the ground. I was surprised as I saw my Beta, Gaius, and the pack elders staring down at me. "Alpha!" Gaius called out with a hint of shock in his voice. I didn't say a word as I was still confused at seeing them. "They didn't possibly all die, and we got reunited in the afterlife," I murmured to myself in confusion. "Alpha!" Theo, one of the pack elders called out, and I turned to meet his gaze. "What happened to me?" I scowled There was an uproar, and for the first time, I noticed it wasn't just the pack elders, then Gaius and Axel, but the whole room was packed with wolves, with confusion written all over their faces. "You should be dead!" Axel screamed out and moved towards me. He tried touching my chest where I had stabbed myself when I made to touch him also. He jumped

AXIOS'S POVI had cried my eyes out at the pack clinic, begging Mira to please come back to me. I had waited for more than half of my life to finally meet my mate, and just a few months later, the cold gripping hand of death snatched her away. "Alpha Axios, please take heart," I heard Maxim say from behind me. I quickly jerked up from the floor grabbed him by the shirt and said, "Please do something, Maxim, anything; please, just wake her up, please," "Alpha Axios! " he called out and my hands slipped away and I slumped on the floor. "I'm sorry, but I have done all I could," Maxim explained, but it was all for deaf ears. I was heartbroken and on the verge of going mad with grief. I had always imagined what wolves go through when they lose their fated mate to death, but I never really thought it was this painful. Now I know why it is called the mad grief. Gaius was standing at the corner all this time watching the drama unfold, when he noticed tha

  • HER BEAST TO TAME.     Chapter 30

AXIOS'S POV8 months and two weeks after the coronation, I woke up early in the morning to an unexpected visitor. The counsel of Alphas had been summoned to an impromptu meeting, and I was to leave immediately. Rufus and his rogue wolves had attacked the Red Dawn Pack, one of the ancient packs, killing everyone in their path. We were summoned by the Lycan prince, Reagan, to discuss ways to put an end to Rufus before he destroys more packs. I had plans to visit the human world with Mira that morning when Beta Axel came over to inform me of the visitor. I wanted to send the visitors away, but when they mentioned Prince Reagan, I felt powerless. "Come on, you promised you would take me to the human world today, for some homemade pies, remember?" Mira lamented while sitting on the floor; for some odd reasons, best known to Mira and my unborn babies, she prefers sitting on the floor. Mira practically eats, sleeps, and does every damn thing on the floor; mo

AXIOS'S POVI hadn't seen a wolf so eager to charge to a fight like Mira; she wasn't scared of anything neither was she scared of being killed. She fights better than most of the male wolves in my pack, honestly from how fragile and pale she looked you wouldn't believe she could even fight, "Are you hurt?""No, I'm fine; I think we got every last one of them," she said, still focused on the dead rogues. Watching her fight like that made me wonder how the fuck did the rogues overpower and kidnap her in the first place. "Alpha!" I heard Gamma Gaius voice from behind us. "Are you okay?" Axel asked, looking from me to Mira. His face changed the instant he understood what had happened. "Are you okay, Luna?" he asked Mira, but a little slower, like he was being cautious, as she didn't want her charging at him. "Yeah, I have never been better," she replied. Breathing heavily, Axel turned to look at me, like he was asking what the fuck happened and why was
