It had been an awful couple of months since I was thrown in this shithole. It had started when my mom had finally convinced my dad to come see me. He had felt so embarrassed he hadn't even come for my trial.
"You did this to yourself, Linda," my father had said, his voice cold and detached. "You threw your life away."
"I'm not throwing my life away, Father," I replied, my voice firm. "I'm fine. You didn't need to come if you were gonna talk trash."
