OLIVIA'S POV
I don't know why I came back.
I felt really sorry for the way things were between me and Dante and I really wanted to fix things. I had already messed things up real bad and I knew that nothing I could say could fix it, but it was worth trying. Wasn't it?
I was just across the street, when I saw Dante's car arrive and Keisha and him got down. My steps halted in their stride. He leaned on his car, looking cool and dapper and Keisha stepped into the vee of his legs, seductively batting her lashes. I gasped.
I knew what I would expect but I still stood there and watched, like a creeper. They didn't even wait to get into the dorm.
Damn!
Mark's POVIt was another Christmas Eve.The most wonderful time of the year, as it is called. But this year, it didn't feel so.I liked to pack and get ready days before any trip, and since it was school free day, because of the snow that had come a little bit earlier, I decided to pack up. My mind, though, was drifting.I was feeling really down and lovesick already, even though we weren't going back home until weekend. It was Wednesday, which meant I had only a few days to spend with Olivia. She was one of the major highlights of my year and I was glad to have her as my girlfriend. However the thought of being apart from her for even a few weeks seemed unr
Dante's POVI groaned in frustration as our car sputtered to a stop on the side of the road. "Shit!”Olivia looked at me with concern. "What's wrong?"“I have no idea. Let me go take a look.”I stepped down and went to open the hood."I think the engine's dead," I replied, getting out of the car to take a look.“And the weather's going to be bad today.” Olivia said. Her words, doing nothing to reassure me.We were in the middle of nowhere, with no cell phone signal to call for help. I left the hood open and took anoth
OLIVIA POVI tossed and turned on the bed, unable to sleep. The mattress was old and creaky, and I could feel the springs digging into my back. I glanced over at Dante, who was not moving as much as I did in his sleeping bag. He was craning his neck uncomfortably though, and I could tell he was doing his best to get comfortable.I felt that he had to have an uncomfortable night's rest because he couldn't join me on the bed. It wasn't his fault after all that we couldn't get a second room. I lay there unable to sleep.I got out of bed and walked over to where Dante was sleeping. "Dante," I whispered, shaking his shoulder. "Come lie on the other side of the bed. You'll be more comfortable."He opened his eyes, looking
Dante's POVI had left Olivia to sleep, because she hadn't gotten much sleep last night. It was the least I could do. I smiled as I thought about last night and this morning.I was waiting outside the motel for the towing company to bring back the car, fixed and ready for the road when my phone rang. Keisha's ID popped up on the screen and I frowned as the first thought in my mind was to ignore her call. I had tried to make it clear to her that I wasn't looking for anything serious, so I hope she didn't think we were. It also felt wrong to be speaking to her, so soon after my night with Olivia. It had been the best night of my life, maybe because I was having that moment with someone I actually loved.I finally picked the call at the fourth ring, “Kei
Dante's POVAs we waited for the surgery to begin, I couldn't help but wonder what the outcome of the surgery will be. Of course, I was optimistic, I didn't want my dad to die. But the doctor made everything seem like things were really bad. Dad was being moved to another section of the hospital, and we were all gathered in the waiting room, waiting for the results.Rhonda was pacing back and forth, her eyes fixed on the door. Olivia was sitting next to me, her hand in mine. I could feel her fear and worry, and I knew that she was trying to be strong for me.The doctor had told us to relax, but there was no way we were doing that.Landon, Olivia's dad, came in then. I guess Olivia had called him. He walked up
Alex's POVIt had been a hell of a ride with my collapses, and two hospital visits in one month. I was eating my meal, with Rhonda insisting on feeding me, even though I was fully capable of eating myself. But it felt good to be cared for, even though I didn't want it to continue for long so I don't look like a weakling.Doctor Pepper, a very stoic doctor who had been my doctor for years came into my room. He came to give me a final checkup before the discharge. "You're looking good, Alex," he said with a smile.“I feel good too.” I did with a smile.Dr Pepper nodded, “Does that mean you won't be visiting us again anytime soon?”
Rhonda's povI hired a nurse much to Alex's reluctance because I wasn't willing to take any chances with his health anymore.I walked into the sitting room, expecting to find Alex sitting in his favorite armchair. He had been asked to move from his bed once in a while, but instead, I was surprised to see Dante and Olivia sitting on the couch, looking at me with concerned expressions."Hey, Rhonda," Dante said, standing up to give me a hug. "How are you doing?"I felt a pang of guilt as I realized I hadn't spoken to them about their journey since they got back from school. I had been so focused on Alex's health that I had neglected my children."I'm sorry, g
Olivia's POVAs I stepped out of the sky pod and onto the familiar streets of SkyCity, I felt a mix of emotions. Excitement, nostalgia, and a hint of nervousness all swirled together in my chest. I had missed this place, and the people in it. Especially my friends at the Barnes. The Barnes was more than just a tavern – it was a hub of activity, a gathering place for the community. And I had been a part of it all, working there throughout high school and even after I left for college. But now, I was back, and I couldn't wait to see what had changed and what had stayed the same.As I made my way through the estate, I took in the sights and sounds of the bustling town. The sky pods zooming by, the chatter of pedestrians, the wail of sirens in the distance – it was a
