DANTE'S POV
I sat still in my baseball locker room, staring at the space in front of me. I was trying to come up with a plan to stop Linda once and for all. She had been terrorizing Olivia for weeks now, and I was determined to put an end to it.
I had not been able to pay attention much with all that had been going on. Olivia in the hospital, quarter finals coming up and the thread of lies I had to keep telling our parents when they couldn't reach Olivia.
Then, an idea came to me. I would send Linda a message, agreeing to date her, but only if she left Olivia alone. It was a ruse, of course. I had no intention of actually dating her, but I hoped it would be enough to lure her out of hiding. I knew Olivia would be against the idea of me sacrificing myself, so she wouldn't be hurt but I had no choice. Landon had been in touch an
OLIVIA'S POV“Is this seat taken?” Mark asked, then without waiting for a response, sat beside me.“Uh…sure.” I replied a few seconds too late.Things had been going well at my club and even though I was now officially the nerd flock, I couldn't care less. We had auditioned a few recruits last week and one of them in particular, had stood out from the rest. Mark Styles. He had charmed the socks off Mrs Shelly and the entire club. He didn't seem like the kind you would find in a college glee club, yet there he was. He didn't seem like the kind who would be remotely interested in me, but surprisingly, he was.He smiled at me as we watched Sophia and Diana sing a deconstructed version of “The boy is mine”. I blushed under his gaze and averted my eyes. “Have you gone through the set list?” He asked looking through some papers.“What?”He stared at me meaningfully and repeated, “The set list?”“Oh…yeah! I have…”He smiled brightly, “Isn’t it amazing that we were both paired to take two d
DANTE'S POVI woke up this morning feeling a sense of loss like something I cherished was taken away from me. That was how much I loved baseball. I had been too consumed by my love for the game for as long as I could remember, that every day I woke up, was spent perfecting my pitch, trying to be better at my skills, and trying to think up ways to strategize or ideas for the team. But as the tournament drew near, my intensity only grew stronger. I was determined to lead my team to victory, no matter the cost, but this suspension wanted to ruin everything.I walked into the cafeteria with my baseball guys, who were sympathizing with me about my suspension. I was looking forward to a hearty lunch, to bury myself in cholesterol and lick my wounds. I had become accustomed to sitting with them that when they left me there to go to th
Olivia's POVRegionals was this Saturday and I was feeling pumped. Mrs Shelly was drilling us so much that I felt that she would combust one day due to her pregnancy. I wanted to make her proud, I wanted to make my club and everyone proud.I know it was a lot of pressure but much needed. I had been on a no-talk routine to preserve my voice for the big day, but it was never going to work, with a roommate like mine. Thankfully, I would be moving out to better lodgings. I was moving in with Sophia at her dorm. It was super exciting for me.It also looked like my no-talking rule wouldn't work there either because Sophia liked to have a roommate she could talk to and I wouldn't make it easier with my ‘load of nonsense'. She didn't believe that not talking was a way I could stay to preserve
OLIVIA'S POVI was yet to get over the feeling of being Mark's girlfriend when Mom had called about Alex's health. Mom had called crying, “I thought I was going to lose him… I mean we just got to start a life together after so long.”I had felt sad that my mom was crying. I had only ever seen her cry when my grandma passed. I sighed, not knowing how to encourage or even share the news that she had been waiting to hear, that I now had a boyfriend.I was supposed to go on my first date with Mark the day after his proposal, but I couldn't help but feel so bad that I was venturing into a relationship with Mark at this critical time. My thoughts shifted to Dante, as it usually did. But this time, it was justified. His was suspended, then there was the tournament, and now his dad's h
OLIVIA'S POVMark was a great guy, always making sure I was happy and cared for. He was interested in everything I was interested in. He wanted to support my dreams. He was too perfect that I could not find any fault in him at all.But the truth was, I didn't love him. My feelings for Dante were still strong, all-consuming. I felt like I was betraying Mark by being with him when my heart belonged to someone else.As I lay in bed, I thought about how I hadn't told Alicia about Mark yet. She was my best friend, my confidante. If I really saw Mark as a significant part of my life, I would have told her about him by now. But I hadn't, and that realization made me feel even more guilty.Just then, my phone rang. It
Dante's POVI was full of so many emotions, my mind was still not over dad's attack and the argument I had with Olivia. But I pushed those thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand. I had to win the postseason tournament this weekCoach blew his whistle, and practice began. He drilled me harder than usual, pushing me to my limits, probably because I had relaxed and added a few tons having been away for a week. A week was all it took. I appreciated it, knowing that we had a reputation to uphold. Wexford had won the title four times in a row, and with me as the lead pitcher, I couldn't flop."Dante, you need to step up your game!" Coach yelled as I threw a wild pitch. "You're not looking sharp!"I gritted my
OLIVIA'S POVI had become so accustomed to always being with Mark… as strange as that sounded. I mentioned my plans to attend Dante's tournament. Mark's eyes lit up with enthusiasm, and he asked if he could take me. I hesitated, unsure if it was a good idea."I don't know, Mark," I said, trying to gauge his reaction. "Dante might not be too happy about us showing up together."Mark shrugged, his expression nonchalant. "So what if he's not happy? We're not doing anything wrong. And I'm a big fan of the tournament, I'd love to go."I studied his face, trying to determine if he was genuinely interested in the tournament or just trying to spend time with me. Either way, I appreciated his enthusiasm.
DANTE'S POVI was with my team in the back room, listening to our coach give us last-minute instructions, when I saw it. The kiss cam landed on a familiar fiery red hair, and my heart sank. My Olivia. Or at least, she used to be mine.I felt my jaw tick and my hand tighten around my bat, like I was going to snap it in two. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Olivia, the girl I had been in love with for what felt like an eternity, was kissing Mark. The same Mark who had been trying to get her attention for months."Hey, Dante, where's your mind at?" my coach asked, snapping me back to reality.I apologized, trying to shake off the feeling of betrayal that was washing over me. I joined in the team's winning shout, t
OLIVIA'S POVI woke up early, feeling like a kid on Christmas morning. Today was the day Dante and I had been planning for what felt like forever – our summer getaway. We had decided to take a road trip to the beach, just the two of us, before he had to report to the New York Nighthawks for his rookie season.I jumped out of bed and started getting ready, my excitement building with every passing minute. I had packed my bags the night before, so all I had to do was to wait for Dante to arrive as we would be going on a road trip before we arrived at our cabin we had booked for a week.Dante was right on time, as he knocked on my door, sipping coffee he had gotten on the way and handing me mine and looking handsome as ever. "Hey, beautiful," he said, smiling at me.
SOPHIA'S POVI stood on stage, my voice soaring through the auditorium as I took my solo. The glee club members accompanied me, their harmonies blending perfectly with mine. I felt a rush of excitement, my new leadership role still sinking in.Suddenly someone pushed the doors slightly and occupied one of the empty seats at the back, I wondered who it could be but as I stared hard, I realized he was a familiar figure. Sebastian. My heart skipped a beat. What was he doing here? I hadn't seen him since...everything fell apart.I momentarily paused, my voice faltering. But I recovered quickly, not wanting to give away my emotions. I finished my solo, the music swirling around me.As the song ended, I gave last-mi
OLIVIA'S POVIt was going to be a great day. I could sense it. I walked into the departmental building for my classes, greeting familiar faces as I made my way to the notice board. As I scanned the postings, one particular announcement caught my eye. The annual Research Excellence Award was open for applications. I had heard whispers about this prestigious honor, but never thought I'd be eligible to apply.According to the notice, every year, each department at Wexford Ivy recognizes the most outstanding researcher in their field. From what I had learnt about it, the award was given to the student who demonstrated exceptional research skills and made significant contributions to their field of study. The winner received a generous grant to further their research, as we
OLIVIA'S POVI watched as Mrs. Shelly walked into the glee club room, and without any preamble whatsoever announced with a determined look on her face. "Jenny, I'm afraid I'm relieving you of your duties as president," she said, her voice firm but gentle.Jenny's face turned red with anger and embarrassment. "What? Why?" she demanded, her voice rising in indignation.Mrs. Shelly sighed, her expression sympathetic but firm. "I made a mistake, Jenny. I gave you the title of president because of your connections to your mom, but that was wrong. Leadership isn't about who you know, it's about who can get the job done."Jenny's anger turned to outrage. "You've gotta be kidding me.”
DANTE'S POVWe were still in our feelings from the aftermath of Jesse's betrayal, but the show had to go on. Our team, was facing off against our arch-rivals, the Lincoln Lions. I was starting pitcher, and I was determined to lead my team to victory.Olivia was in the stands, cheering me on with the rest of our friends. She was wearing my jersey, and her face was painted with our team's colors. I couldn't help but smile when I saw her.As I took the mound, I noticed a group of scouts from the New York Nighthawks in the stands. They were here to watch us play, which meant they wanted to recruit a new player to New York. It was a big deal, and I was determined to make a good impression. The game was intense, with both
DANTE'S POVI was getting ready for the big game, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. The team was buzzing with energy, everyone was chill with me now and that was good. We began putting on our gear. I was focused on my own preparation, trying to get my head in the game.As I laced up my cleats, I glanced around the locker room. Everyone seemed relaxed, enjoying the pre-game banter. Reynolds was joking with Jesse, while everyone else was quietly getting ready, some others on their phones.Coach Thompson walked in, a serious look on his face. "Alright, team, let's get focused. Today's game is crucial, and I expect everyone to give their best.”We all nodded, our expressions turning serious. The coach's word
DANTE'S POVI was relieved when my dad told me to lay low for a while. The attention from the viral photo was suffocating me. I couldn't go to school without being stared at or whispered about. I couldn't even go to my own baseball practice without being asked questions.Olivia was going through the same thing. We had to avoid each other, even though it was hard. We couldn't visit each other's practices anymore or eat lunch together. It was like we were hiding from the world. But then, something unexpected happened. A fire broke out in the school's auditorium, causing a massive evacuation and a police investigation. The rumors and whispers about Olivia and me died down, replaced by shock and concern about the fire.
OLIVIA'S POVAs I walked through the halls of school, I couldn't help but feel like everyone was staring at me. Whispers followed me everywhere. But one person didn't seem to care about any of that. Sophia, stuck by my side like glue no matter what."Don't let them get to you," Sophia said, falling into step beside me. "They're just jealous."I sighed, feeling a bit defeated. "It's hard not to let it get to me, Soph. Everyone's talking about me and Dante."Sophia rolled her eyes. "Let them talk. They're just bored and need something to gossip about. Something else will come up soon, and they'll forget all about you and Dante."
DANTE'S POVAs I walked into the locker room for practice, I could feel the eyes on my back. My teammates were all staring at me, their faces filled with a mix of confusion and disgust."Hey, Dante, what's going on?" Reynolds, one of the team players, asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "We didn't know you were into that sort of thing."He was Jesse's sidekick so I wasn't expecting much from him."It's none of your business," I replied, trying to keep my cool. But the guys just kept pushing. "Dude, she's your sister," another one said, his voice filled with revulsion. "That's just wrong."I fel
