I got away from him as fast as possible. I couldn’t believe someone would actually say that they wanted you to go to Hell and mean it in a romantic fashion!
I ran up and into my room to lay down, completely ignoring any chance of running into my mom. I had left for my walk before lunch, and my stomach reminded me that it was past dinnertime when I got home. I took a quick glance out my window and saw Damien just starting to leave, I still couldn’t believe him.
Not only was he a demon, but he wanted to take me back to Hell with him and live with him there! I was too caught up with all my thoughts that I hadn’t heard my mom knock on my door, “Abby, hon, you okay?”
<Day six came and I woke up early and showered for the first time this whole last week before heading out. It was raining still and my mom let me use the car so that I didn’t have to walk, I told her that I was going to the lake for some air. I still had the instructions to Damien’s house in my head and I reached his house in less than ten minutes, getting lucky with only green lights.I knocked but no one came to the door. His Tesla wasn’t in the driveway, but he had a garage, so I couldn’t be sure if he were home or not. I stood in front of his door continuing to knock obnoxiously and still had no response. He must be at work in court.Okay, I’ll just head to the courthouse and find his chambers there and speak to him that way, that will work. The drive was almost half an hour and I still had no idea what I was going to say when I reached the courthouse. His car was here, and my heart skipp
I tried my hardest not to look at her too much as she sat there nervously in the courtroom, but she was so beautiful that I couldn’t help myself at times.Officer Daniels knocked on my door and told me that there was a young woman here to see me and I knew exactly who he meant, “Let her in,” I told him and he opened the door for her.“Hi,” she greeted shyly as she walked in, her long blonde hair almost looking brown due to it being wet from the rain.“Hi,” I replied as I put my judge’s robe on a hanger to the side of my desk. I saw her fiddle with her fingers as she stood there in front of my desk, “Can I do something for you?” I asked as I sat down at my desk across from her, remembering to tread lightly. She stared at me for a moment before she spoke, “You never appeared in my dreams,” she sounded sad.&ldq
*Author’s Note: Some facts that correlate with any religion or mythology have been bent and stretched for the purpose of this story. Fact and fiction index will be placed at the very end of the book*After what happened in the courthouse with all of the lights blowing out, I had to visit the underworld and figure out what happened and why it happened in the first place. Also, whatever it was, was it normal?I waited until I got home to transport between realms, and I entered Hell just in front of my home there. Black and gray walls on the outside, two stories, modern aged Victorian style to keep up with the theme of where we were, “Hex,” I summoned the small demon and he appeared a moment later.“Lord Damien,” he greeted with a bow.“Walk with me,” I said as I began to make my way from my home down the road of hot coal towards Uncle Lucifer’s mansion. &
*Semi-Mature Content*Still perplexed by what happened at the courthouse during Damien and my kiss, I drove home in a daze, and honestly, I’m not even sure I was aware the entire time I was driving, but I made it home safely. I parked in the driveway and remained in the car for a good period of time, my head leaned back on the headrest.I had kissed other guys before, but Damien was different. The same jolt of electricity pulsed through me and I wondered if he felt it as well. When I mentioned it to him, he didn’t seem to know what I was speaking about, so I wasn’t sure.Maybe he and I were meant to be together and it was something normal whenever someone found their soulmate? If that were true, you’d think there would be posts online and books about it everywhere, and I had never heard of such a thing. Maybe my mom knows something about it.“Mama? You here?” I hol
I saw her mother’s car there and knew I would have to sneak in unnoticed, it would have to be through a window, and directly into her room. There was a large tree in the neighbor’s yard that was just high enough for me to climb to be able to reach Abby’s room and chose that as my best option. She wasn’t in her room when I peeked in, so I made the glass disappear from the window so that I could get in without any noise, then put it back as soon as I was inside. Her room was adorable and girly, with floral prints and various shades of pink, purple, and blue. Her bed was only twin size, and it only made me imagine how close we would have to be if we laid on it together.I laid on the bed mindlessly, imagining Abby with me put a smile on my face. I put my hands underneath my head and made myself comfortable as I listened to her brush her teeth in the bathroom just down the hall. Looking to my side, on the nightstand was a
My life was over. That was it, I was bound for Hell and I had no say in it. I was furious at Damien for doing this to me and especially for not giving me the choice to decide if I actually wanted to turn into a demon and be with him in the first place, that seems like a decision that should be made by me, not him.Yes, I told him to make me his, but I said it in the heat of the moment and my mind had gone to mush around him, I had no idea what I was really saying! Can I plead insanity here?I sat at my desk to get some distance from him and I stared at Damien with fury in my eyes. Slowly, I began to see him more clearly. I shook my head slightly, “Wha-” I began and blinked a few times before I asked, “Why can I suddenly count your eyelashes all the way from here?”“My bite is changing you,” he said very plainly. My hand had just been combing through his hair but it
“Abby, I got the gloves you wanted,” My mom hollered from downstairs and I heard her coming up the steps.I turned to Damien and whispered to him in a small panic, “You have to hide!” He only smiled at me and then vanished into thin air, just like the small demon who appeared earlier had done.I was still sitting on top of my bed in the fetal position when my mom knocked on my door, “Can I come in?”“Uh, sure,” I answered hesitantly and with a shaky voice, my mind was still spinning trying to comprehend just what the hell happened in front of me.She opened the door slowly and put her hand forward that were holding the gloves, which I took, “Well no wonder you’re so cold, it’s forty degrees out and you’re in a t-shirt! Here,” she walked to my closet and picked up a hoodie, “this will help, along with the gloves.&rdquo
*Mature Content*The next week was spent trying to learn about Abby’s new abilities as a demon. I read the age-old books back in Hell on Zeus and his offspring, along with how to test for each ability. We already ruled out mindreading thanks to a little help from Hex, and we knew that she could control the weather by her emotions alone, so she had been practicing with the weather ability slowly, so as not to draw any suspicion.Abby discovered that she could suppress her lightning ability through her hands if she wears gloves. We went to the park on the day that I marked her and found a small child with her mother sitting on a bench. I distracted the mother with conversation w
FACT VS FICTION INDEXThis is more a Myth VS Fiction index for those who don't believe in Greek Mythology - none of this, as far as I'm aware, is known to be a sure fact - these are simply what my research told me and what I used to build the story.FACT: Pluto, Plouton, Hades, and Lucifer are all different names used for the ruler of the underworld.FACT: Zeus is said to have dozens of offspring with both Goddesses and mortal consorts.FICTION: There is no family tree that ties anyone to Zeus.FICTION: There was no feud between brothers where Zeus tried to kill Hades.FACT: Zeus is God of the sky, lightning, justice, thunder, and law and order (wiki)Samhain is a Celtic word referring to the end of the harvest season. It is considered the Pagan new year when the veil between the living and dead is at its thinnest.FACT: Persephone, AKA Kora, was the daughter
My name is Abigail Lynn Hale, I was eighteen when I fell in love with a demon and followed him to the realm of the dead to live happily ever after with him. While there, I met a Goddess who wanted the same thing as myself - equality for all the souls.Together, we devised a plan to destroy the system of Heaven and Hell and create a single realm for every soul to inhabit and receive the afterlife that they deserve based on the seven deadly sins, and with strategy and will, we successfully created this new realm, we named it Mercy. My parents both reside in Mercy now, along with every other soul to exist and die. My parents and I patched up our differences and I forgave them both for their sins.Kora was given a rebirth, and as much as it saddened me to lose a friend, she was finally free from Lucifer’s hold. Whether it was genuine love she felt for him or mind manipulation, she would never have
Brightness. It was all that I saw towards the end.Zeus and Lucifer were about to attack each other for the last time, the final strike, the last clash, the moment that would destroy the portals between Heaven and Hell and leave all the souls in one single realm. The second that they began to move towards each other, I let my consciousness return back to my body and my eyes shot wide open. Brightness. It felt like it lasted forever, but it slowly vanished to reveal a blue sky above, not a single cloud in sight. It was silent now, the war was over.I was laying down, something I don’t remember doing. The last thing I remember was seeing Kora running to me and telling her that it was time.I turned my head to see green grass underneath me. My hair was blonde again, something it hasn’t been for months.Looking further out, I saw that the green grass didn’t last mor
Abby was somehow inside the consciousnesses of both Zeus and Lucifer, practically fighting herself in a sense, and I was supposed to just stand there and watch?Fighting off people as they came near to protect her, I could do that, but the angels and demons seemed to be equal in number, fighting one-on-one, very few coming towards us as they defeated their opponent.Everyone knew this battle was ultimately Zeus versus Lucifer, so no one dared to approach the area that the brothers were fighting.Kora was focused on Abby, I don’t know if she was giving her the mindreading ability so that Abby could block the next attack between brother accordingly or what, but whatever it was that she was doing, she was helping Abby, so I would protect her too.I questioned Kora for a while in the underworld, knowing that she was there against her will, for the most part. I wondered if she preferred the heavens
Everything happened so quickly; one moment I was standing there with Hermes making casual conversation, the next thing I know, all the souls of Heaven and Hell appear in the Garden and the battle begins. They went from zero to a hundred incredibly fast.Lucifer was right, there was absolutely no warning about this battle about to commence, nothing like the mock battles we had – these souls appeared out of nowhere and they kept coming, leaving nothing but the sight of fighting figures all along the flat plane of the Garden.Hermes disappeared quickly somewhere since he didn’t technically have a side to fight on, he just stayed away from it. I grabbed the bow and arrows from the pile of weapons that Kora and I brought with us as quickly as I could and checked my surroundings to try to find her.Where was she? She was supposed to take the device to Lucifer and have him destroy it then be right back. If the fight
I was able to get both Kora and me to the Garden because the portal was opened by Hermes, and when we arrived, we saw that the battle had already begun. The weather was as if Abby was feeling every emotion – The clouds were gray and thunderous, a mixture of hail and rain being blown in every direction. It was humid and hot, with bursts of sunlight threatening to poke through the clouds here and there.Hundreds of angels fought hundreds of demons all along the planes of the Garden as far as the eye could see. The demons all brought weapons of their own, as well as the angels, along with each one's natural powers.Fireballs were shot from one side to the other, arrows were flung in all directions, in some places, there was hand-to-hand combat taking place, making it hard to tell which soul was the demon and which was the angel.I saw Hex in his wendigo form, skeletal with patches of fur and the s
When I dreamt, Kora would visit me, and we have been strategizing how to create a new realm and destroy Heaven and Hell altogether. We planned things in my dreams, and when morning came, we tested whatever we came up with, and we had finally gotten to a point where we knew what to do.No one besides Kora had seen what I can do by means of possession. It happened once when we were sparring - I had gotten frustrated with going between my demon form and my angel form, trying to master the quick transitions, and Kora attempted an attack which I blocked by getting into her head.At the same time, my body blocked her attack. It’s when I noticed that my subconscious had divided itself between my own mind and Kora’s, I was controlling both of us.It might be too much to take at any moment, really, which is why we had to save it for this battle. Kora and I agreed to save that ability until the right moment, and we wou
Authors Note: *This chapter contains some content suggesting suicide and may trigger some readers, discretion is advised*After Abby left to train with Kora, I paid another visit to Luci, who seemed far less than thrilled to see me again. I found him walking the same way as I was in the hallway outside of Kora’s greenroom, he probably just bid her farewell as she left to train Abby some more.He heard my footsteps and turned to me, “If you won’t help me hide her, then at least help me give her more time,” I was begging now and I didn’t even care, I just wanted to save Abby.I was going to ask Lucifer for more mock battles, each time with more and more people. We had no idea just how many souls would be fighting for her on the other side and needed to be prepared for anything. It could be a hundred or it could be a hundred thousand, there are countless souls in the heavens, who knows how many
How much do I tell him? He’s just standing there and staring at me, I can’t stay pacing like this for too long, I need to say something! The weather is changing based on my mood, too, and I don’t want him to see what happens when I get frustrated here. Not yet. ‘Come on, Abby, you can come up with words!’“I was hidden from a lot of things in my life growing up, and now I have a chance to be a part of something huge, and you want to take it from me…” Ouch, that may have been a bit too harsh, I need to come up with something else, “You once said that you would never make me do something that I didn’t want to do… well, I don’t want to hide.”Damien pinched his lips together but when he finally spoke, his words came out softly. “I’m just trying to look out for you.”“Thank you,” I offered in a gentle tone, “bu
