My Amiable readers. I hope this book is keeping you busy? You can give a review about the book and tell me how you feel about it. I will make amends where necessary. Thanks 😘 Omah✍️
I went to the infirmary the next day. Of course, not by myself. Yuvonne passed the news to Mercury and Asher who came running to meet me. "Well, I somehow knew he was going to confront you. But he is a cunt to lay his fornicating fingers on you. Feeling better?"Mercury asked. "Better than last night." I answered.Asher gave me a hug as she and Yuvonne left to get our breakfast from the refectory."I have a good news, Hel." She looked around to make sure no one was listening. Then she bent towards me as she whispered. "I know what the words on the Alphas walls says" "That's a job well done Cury. Tell me what it says" "You gotta be kidding me Hel. You just shortened Mercury, Jesus, you are impossible." She said as she opened her book to find it. "Cury is easy going, I don't want to be stressed regarding my condition." I told her. "Okay. So uhm. Getting my facts right, I found out that it says, which is very ridiculous to me ; THE SCHOOLING SOLDIER, or something like THE SCHOLAR W
Everywhere was so tensed up as we all are seen in the refectory, eyes glued to the television, disregarding our meals. Nobody had the appetite to eat. It was reported by the national television that the Shalomes, due to their population, had an upper hand and the most possibility of winning the war and taking over the shipping boarder. When the General Commander heard this, she took to her wheels and went to meet with the Federal Claudia Military commander. He was sitting very peacefully at his desk as though nothing was going wrong. " What an August visit in April. What could it possibly be? It must be something very tough for you to come all the way up here." He said swinging himself side to side on his sit as he smoked his coke. " I don't know what type of a leader you will be to not know that your country is in a messy time." "Well, I told the president to cut off from the agreement with the Shalomes three years ago, but he didn't listen. Now look at the results. I am not to be
At the field. I took in the war breeze. It was soothing. It calmed my nerves instead of otherwise. Somehow I knew I belonged there, in the battle field. We had to lay ambush, so we all lay down, with our eyes and guns ahead disguising in the grass. Divided into two groups, I was in Julius' side."So what next?" I asked Julius who was beside me. I was obviously losing my patience as I saw many of our soldiers fall before us. "We wait, I will be waiting for their signal to strike."Some of the crones are on the helicopter with their comms on. They are to release the explosives on order. The shooting noise took the atmosphere. We had to be shouting so we could here ourselves. Then someone from my group got hit, straight in the head. He died with his eyes open, instantly. It was my first time seeing someone drop dead right beside me. I clenched my teeth as I moved to where he lay and closed his eyes with my palms. Feeling very emotional. "We have been discovered, run for cover!"Julius
We got back to the Marshalls amidst our songs of joy and victory. I was not really into it, because it turned out to be a nightmare and horror for me. Mercury was badly injured even though it wasn't visible. She had internal bleeding and was also taking with the others for proper medical attention. That night, the soldiers made camp fire by putting woods over each other and burning the Shallomes flag, marking their victory at the field. My sister looked everywhere for Asher. But she couldn't find her. She went to look at the names of the soldiers admitted to the hospital and there was no Asher Jackson on it. She knew without being told, Asher didn't make it. I felt so guilty having her find out about it that way, but there was nothing I could do. I couldn't stand to tell her how I saw Asher die and couldn't do nothing. I came over to where she sat crying and hugged her, she rested her head on my chest as she sobbed uncontrollably. I just sat there as tears dropped from my eyes too, all
I was permitted to visit Mercury at the hospital again during one of the visiting days. The infirmary is not big and well equipped enough to contain the casualties. When I got to the hospital, I found out that so many of our soldiers were doing very fine, recovering so fast. I was happy, but just two out of them couldn't make it, adding to the numbers we lost at the field instantly. The Tv at the hospital reception got me when I read the headline and it was about the war between the Claudia and the Shalomes. The news caster made the world know that the Claudia only lost five hundred and two soldiers and is nursing seventy two casualties. Looking around the hospital, we had over hundred casualties and counting and you can trust me if I told you we lost a thousand soldiers both the once at the KS and the ones here at the Marshalls. Well, the government will always be the government, covering up their shits. I took the remote and switched off the television, it was getting on my nerves.
Going up the stairs as carefully as I could, I found out the stairs went on and on in circles and the building at that time seemed to have no other persons other than the people already in the ongoing operation, the fact that I don't know where they brought me is overwhelming. I had to take the elevator and according to the guard, they are at the last fucking floor and the stairs seemed to have no ending. Entering the elevator, I looked for the last number, I could have been damned. It was floor 22. When I got out of the elevator, I made for the next door, but something drew my attention, I abruptly stopped, raising my head and looking at the top of the wall, I saw the now familiar but yet unreadable Vikings writings. I felt horrible not being able to comprehend it. Then someone came through my back to strangle me, but one thing I got from my mum is the instinct to sense presence especially when it is coming behind me. I waited for him to approach very well pretending I didn't notice.
Arriving at the Marshalls, the soldiers were lined up in anticipation for our return. They must have heard what happened. The General stood to address us. " We had a mole in the person of the Deputy General Commander. He sold us out, we couldn't get our hands on the signed paperwork, but we have some other vital info with us here, embedded in this laptop. Thanks to this soldier beside me, Helion Mary, she saved the day, and she will be rewarded accordingly. I want us all to sleep with an eye open, we killed the Dogma's Cartel during the saga, it was necessary and anything could be coming our way. If you see something, say something." She concluded as she made for the administrative block and asked me to join her.Heading to the administrative block, I had to ask,"The Dogma's Cartel, he actually said *who are you* to me. I thought he doesn't speak nor hear English?" "He knew just the basics, like; who are you? how are you? what is your name? and the little others, apart from that, no
Mercury had fully recovered and was sent back to the Marshalls. She also came back with a new eyes aid. I was so happy she was alive and kicking. That night, we both took some natural flowers from the garden and a whiskey Asher had been saving up for dry days. Yuvonne came with us too as we set out for the war grave where the soldiers that passed on at the field were laid to rest. We took our torches and set out as we sang Asher's favorite song, Ballad of the green beret on our way. Reaching the war grave,We searched for her stone as we saw her epitaph which bore her data; Asher Jackson. 20 years, etc. Then we held our hands as we dropped the flowers.Mercury started,"Asher, you fought like it was a personal war. You gave it your all. You were brave, fearless and courageous. I know I was so scared and shaking but you patted my back and said to me. *You are more than what you think of yourself.* You have always been a great friend and although my time with you was small. I will never
