It was around ten in the morning when Stella and Morgan finally woke up,they didn't have any recollection of how they had slept last night, the only thing that they could remember of was their grandmother's last words before everything had gone dark in their mind.
"Stella, I know both you and Morgan have a lot of questions to ask me, but unfortunately I don't have anymore time left to answer any of your questions, but I would leave you several books where you would get the answers from, as for now take care of yourselves, and remember you should always put on the pendant, never even for once should you ever remove it,no matter what!"Thinking about it, they immediately swung into action in order to find their beloved grandmother so that she may explain to them what exactly had happened, and what she meant when she said those words, they hoped that whatever she meant when she said she didn't have any more time was not what they were thinking of.It only shocked the two grandkids to find their grandma missing, her bed clearly shown that she hadn't slept on it last night.Confusion and worry gripped their hearts as they searched every nook of their little house but there was no sign of their grandma. Instead, they discovered a weathered leather bag lying on the kitchen table.Stella and Morgan had never seen the bag before,so they hurried to check it's content only to find weathered and worn book, cracked leather cover, adorned with faded symbols, within its yellowed, time-Its pages were filled with cryptic symbols and faded illustrations, and on the first page, written in elegant script, were the words:"The Laws of the ancient times."Beside the book their was a written note stuck on the table, written in their grandma's handwriting, "Stella, Morgan, am very sorry my kids that I can no longer take care of you guys, as you would be reading this note then I would no longer be in this world, am going back home, to where we all came from, I've left you several material that would enrich your knowledge on this things, goodbye my kids, I wish you well, and all the best.If in any chance by good luck we meet again, I would love to be your grandmother once again.Morgan, remember to take care of your sister, with time you will learn that you two are of different kinds, and you might be swayed to turn your back on her, and when such a time comes, always remember that she is your SISTER, and you have to protect her no matter what because she must fulfill the old prophecies, goodby my kids. "Love, grandma. The note read, and sure enough they didn't quite understand what it meant, more so when she said she would no longer be in this world, it just made them think whether there's another parallel world, they didn't quite believe in such tales, they have read and watched a lot about it.Curiosity mingled with apprehension made Stella and Morgan to hurriedly start flipping through the ancient tome so that at least they may get to understand what all this was for, they hadn't understood a thing from the note. The book was not written in any simple English as they had thought earlier on, it was written in the ancient language and lucky enough Stella had been taught by her uncle Xavier while Morgan had been taught by grandma Elizabeth. The book spoke of a long-forgotten prophecy, passed down through generations from a thousand years ago when it was written, after the death of the guardians of the dark world. The first chapter spoke of dire consequences that would befell a witch who by any chance dare to interact with a devil in whichever situations, and if by any chance that were to happen then the witch had to be taken back to the dark world and be imprisoned in a dungeon full of poisonous insects as a punishment to prevent any interaction between the two kinds. The words seemed to leap off the page, filling the room with an eerie sense of foreboding.Everything written on the book didn't quite make any sense to either Stella or Morgan, they found everything on the book quite absurd, the book spoke of the witches, dragons, angels, vampires and the devil. They didn't believe in such a things at all, weren't they just fantasy? They thought to themselves because if they really were to interpret it, it only meant that grandma Elizabeth is a witch while the stranger guy whom Stella had picked from the streets the previous night was the devil. That was not true to them, their grandma was someone of the purest soul that they had ever met, and since witches were only associated to evils, just like the devil, it didn't make any sense to them at all to even think that way, so they dismissed it with a thought that maybe their grandma was just role playing, she had once disappeared for a week back then when they were still young, they thought that maybe she would be back again, just like before. As they two delved deeper into the prophecy, they learned of the powerful bond between the witch and the devil, forged in the shadows of ancient forests. The devil, Lucifer himself had promised the queen witch untold riches and unimaginable power in exchange for her assistance in fulfilling his malevolent plans, which was against the laws set on the world by the gods. Together with the assistant of the aliens, they had planned to unleash chaos upon the world, plunging it into darkness and despair, a thousand years ago but they were stopped by the two guardians, one of whom was his own son, and as a result he had lost his own son in the process leading the plan being put off.The battle had been scheduled to take place a thousand years later, after the rebirth of the two guardians, and only after Lucipher had claimed his son back. But the prophecy also spoke of hope. It foretold of five brave souls comprising of an angel, a devil, a witch, a dragon and a vampire who would rise against the darkness, armed with courage and determination. These heroes would embark on a perilous quest to fulfill the prophecy, restoring balance to the world and saving the universe from alien attacks and from evil.Written in bold there was one condition attached to it, by any chance there was supposed to be no any interaction or between any of the kinds, more so the devil and angel as they were totally two opposite kinds dire to which it would lead to the end of the world and perishing of the human world, consequently, the two kinds would lose their immortality and perish forever.Stella and Morgan stood by Lucian's bedside, they had had him transferred from their grandma's secret room to one of the guest rooms. Their gazes were unwavering as they monitored every flicker of his unconscious state. Lucian lay motionless, his vital organs stable but his consciousness was yet to return. It was already a week since his rescue and Grandma Elizabeth's disappearance. As the two watched over the patient they always created time to find their grandmother, but it was a shock to them when none of the neighbors could recall her at all, they were all clueless each time any of them was asked whether they had seen an old lady around, they didn't have a single recollection of her at all. As the hours passed by, Stella would meticulously check Lucian's vital signs, her trained medical instincts guiding her every move. Since there were no machines, she would improvise noting any fluctuations in his heart rate and oxygen levels. Morgan, equally dedicated, kept a close watch on L
Stella couldn't believe her luck when she received the call offering her the position of secretary at one of the city's most prestigious companies.A college dropout with dreams of changing her life, she eagerly accepted the job with excitement evident in her face.It came as a shock to her, with no experience in the job and no certificates at all she hadn't expected to land the job, but here she was, standing at the gate of the Royal Empire company, reassuring herself that all would be well. Not only was she offered the job, but her brother, Morgan too had received the call just as she had, offering him the job as the personal chauffeur for the boss, and since he was much more excited than Stella was, he had headed to the company as early as seven even when they had been told that they should be there as from eight."You are Stella, the new employee?" the receptionist asked immediately after Stella had keyed in her details earning an affirmation nod from her "Here, follow me," she
It began with a distant echo, a thunderous voice reverberating through the void, commanding him not to proceed. The words were indistinct yet carried an undeniable weight, as though the universe itself warned against what he was about to do. Amid this ominous cacophony, a faint, ethereal voice cut through the darkness. It was a lady's voice, delicate yet filled with an urgent plea. "Save yourself," she whispered, her words swirling around the young boy like a haunting melody. Each syllable resonated with desperation, tugging at his heartstrings with an otherworldly allure. The voices intensified, each with desperation. The thunderous voice grew louder, a booming crescendo that shook his very core. It spoke of consequences, of irreversible choices that would alter the course of existence itself. Yet, the lady's voice persisted a fragile thread of hope amidst the encroaching despair. The vision enveloped him in a shroud of darkness that seemed to seep into his very soul and began t
Lucian’s footsteps echoed through the empty corridors of the office, each step a measured cadence of irritation. He had been at the company for nearly a decade, but recently, the daily grind had begun to weigh heavily on him. The once-familiar hum of productivity now felt like a constant drone of inefficiency and frustration. He reached his desk, a fortress of cluttered paperwork and half-drunk coffee mugs. The disarray mirrored his mental state. With a sigh, he slumped into his chair, feeling the day’s tension in his shoulders. It was going to be one of those days.Stella, his assistant and personal unofficial coffee guru, was his next hope for a small respite. He picked up the phone and dialed her extension."Stella! I could really use a cup of coffee. Just the usual."As he hung up, he glanced at the clock. It was nearing eleven, and he’d already consumed three cups of coffee. His nerves were frayed, and his patience was wearing thin.A knock on his office door heralded her arrival
The massive, obsidian throne gleamed darkly under a vast canopy of jagged rocks, casting faint reflections across the dimly lit chamber of hell’s core. Lucifer sat with an air of grim majesty, his posture as rigid as the stone around him, every line of his form etched with fury and a thousand lifetimes of resentment. His crimson eyes burned with the intensity of volcanic embers, a smoldering hatred directed at memories that plagued him with every passing millennium. He could feel it. The tether that bound him to his son was alive once more, pulsating with a faint, yet unmistakable energy. It throbbed like a second heartbeat, rekindling emotions he’d thought long were dead. His son was reborn, somewhere beyond the thick shadows and infernal barriers of hell. A tremor of urgency surged through him. He was not the only one reborn. The girl, her very name forbidden to be spoken of in hell, was likely to have been reborn and searching for him too. The girl who had once torn his heart and
Lucian stared at his reflection in the mirror, hardly recognizing the man looking back. The sleepless nights and the guilt gnawing at him left him looking haggard, and worn. He had tried to forget what happened the previous day, the burst of anger, the way he’d lost control, and the split-second decision that had led him to hurl a mug of hot coffee toward Stella. Even now, the memory made him wince. He’d caught a glimpse of her face afterward, shock and silence. The guilt, sharper than any he’d felt in a long time, clung to him, tightening like a vise around his heart. Lucian wasn’t used to feeling guilty. But Stella’s face kept surfacing in his mind. He knew he couldn’t simply ignore it because, deep down it was torturing him. He couldn’t continue acting as though nothing had happened. And so, he resolved to make things right. When he arrived at the topmost floor of his office, he took a deep breath, his gaze to her top-to-floor glass-walled office, he saw her. Stella was at her d
It was already a week since the incident. The morning air was thick and oppressive as Lucian left his house, a faint weight pressing against his chest. He shook it off, or at least tried to, adjusting his suit jacket as he walked to his car. It wasn’t just the humidity that felt heavy; it was something that gnawed at him from the back of his mind like a faint hum of static he couldn’t shake. He felt as if he were being watched, though every time he looked over his shoulder, he saw nothing but empty driveways and silent, neatly trimmed-lawns. He slid into the driver’s seat, gripping the steering wheel tightly, his eyes flickering to the rearview mirror instinctively. Empty. But the feeling didn’t leave. He let out a frustrated breath and started the car, the hum of the engine a temporary distraction as he pulled out of his driveway and onto the street. The feeling stayed with him as he navigated through the familiar city streets. It twisted his mood, curdling his thoughts and making
Xavier's resident.A taxi rolled to a stop outside.Xavier stepped out, stretching his stiff muscles, and took a deep breath of the cool evening air. It felt good to be back after his long business trip. For days, he had longed to be back home again and reunite with his family. But as he approached the front door, something felt different. He couldn’t quite place it.He unlocked the door and walked inside, he hadn't informed them beforehand as he had planned to surprise them. "Hello! I’m home!" His voice echoed through the silence. Frowning, he set down his bags and walked into the living room. Normally, Stella would come running to greet him, eager to tell him all about her latest adventures at school. “Daisy?” he called out. “Stella?” A moment later, he heard footsteps in the hallway, and Daisy, his wife appeared, wearing a faint smile but looking oddly tense. She gave him a quick hug. “Welcome back, hubby,” she said happily. “Thanks, love. It’s good to be back,” he said, a bit
It was around five after she had taken a nap when Stella came down."Master said you should meet him in his study," a maid informed Stella when she asked for him. "Uncle Xavier?" she called hesitantly at the door of the study room. "Come in, Stella," came his deep, commanding voice. Stepping inside, Stella found herself enveloped in the same suffocating air she had felt the night of her accident, something unearthly only that it felt pure and harmless. To her shock, the room was filled with strangers, her uncle's friends who had welcomed her earlier on. A dozen figures sat on the sofa, their expressions filled with excitement and expectant gazes. Each exuded an aura of power, their very presence unsettling. Stella faltered, her voice shaking. "Who… who are all these people? What’s going on?" Xavier motioned for her to sit in the high-backed chair opposite him. "Come, Stella. There is much to discuss." Her legs carried her forward, though her mind screamed for her to run. She sa
Stella sat on the edge of the hospital bed, her hands folded neatly in her lap. Her hair, though slightly disheveled from the days spent in this sterile environment, framed her pale face. Today marked her discharge, and she was eager to leave behind these white walls.Morgan stood by the window, arms crossed as he surveyed the bustling hospital grounds below. He was ever the most overprotective sibling. The hired car was already waiting downstairs, and he'd triple-checked her prescriptions, ensuring everything was in order."You ready, Steh?" Liam asked, turning toward her. His voice was soft, but the concern etched in it was unmistakable.Stella offered him a small smile. " Very ready. Let’s get out of here before the doctors change their minds."Morgan chuckled and moved to grab her bag. "No one’s keeping you here anymore. Let’s go."As they exited the hospital doors, the crisp air greeted them, carrying with it the faint scent of freshly cut grass. Stella inhaled deeply, relishing
The city was quiet in the early hours of the morning, the silence heavy as if in anticipation of something violent and inevitable.Lucian moved like a shadow through the streets. Tonight was the day when he was going to have his rival under his palms. His target was a man who was willing to use every dark means possible to subdue him. His destination lay just outside the city’s limits, where opulence and influence masked ruthless neighborhood. The mansion, a fortress of wealth, stood only a hundred meters from where he stood.~~~~~~~~~~~ The grand staircase groaned softly under Lucian’s boots as he ascended, a sharp contrast to the eerie stillness of the mansion. The door at the end of the corridor was slightly ajar, revealing a sliver of the dimly lit room beyond. Lucian pushed it open without hesitation. Inside, Lucas lay sprawled on his massive bed, his chest rising and falling in oblivious slumber. Lucian stepped inside the room, his presence a shadow against the muted gl
WARNING: THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS VIOLENCE.Lucian stood at the door of the dimly lit warehouse, watching his prey. The man sat tied to a chair in the center of the room, a thin sheen of sweat glistening on his face, his eyes still closed from the sedative his men had injected him with earlier. Lucian watched him, his gaze cold and detached, the man before him was once his trusted right-hand man, his assistant. Ben. Lucian allowed himself a moment to take in the sight. The last time they had faced each other, it had been in a storm of gunfire, in the alley behind the warehouse around six months ago. Lucian could still feel the ghost of pain in his shoulder from the bullet that had torn through him that evening. The wound had mostly healed, but the betrayal remained, raw, like a wound that refused to close. Tonight, he would make Ben understand. Not by killing him, no, death would be too quick, too merciful. He wanted him to feel every bit of pain, that he would wish to die, but
Lucian sat at his desk, staring at the papers scattered across in front of him. The clock on the wall ticked steadily, but his focus remained elsewhere. His pen hovered over a document that required his signature, yet his hand didn’t move. The silence in his office was suffocating. He glanced to the right, where Stella's glass-walled office used to be. It had been cleared out two days ago, but in his mind, Stella was still there, where her desk remained untouched in the corner. He could almost hear the soft clicking of her keyboard, the gentle hum of her voice as she fielded calls and the way she’d occasionally glance at him when she thought he was not looking. Now, there was nothing but emptiness. Lucian closed his eyes, trying to focus, but it was no use. Stella had left a void, one he wasn’t sure anyone else could fill. He missed the way she’d hand him his coffee just as he realized he needed it, the way she’d slide a perfectly organized stack of documents onto his desk second
The Eternal Spire. In a boundless, luminous realm, the room pulsed with a life of its own enclosed by shiny black stone walls that shimmered faintly with a silvery hue. Whispers of forgotten voices curled around the edges of the space, merging with the flickering light of spectral flames that hovered above a massive black table at its center. Xavier sat at the head of the table, his sharp, angular features partially obscured by the fluctuating light. His pale eyes bore into the twelve individuals seated before him, each a master in their own right. The guardian's protector, his elite task force, was a collection of talents unmatched in the mortal realm. "Silence!" Xavier's commanded, his voice cutting through the murmurs of conversation, a chilling authority in his tone. The expanse responded, muting the otherworldly whispers, making the silence more oppressive. The assembled figures straightened in their seats. Tonight the tension in the air was suffocating, and their leade
Xavier sat at his favorite corner table in the cafe, a newspaper in his hand, lost in his routine:of skimming headlines, reading editorials, and occasionally pausing to linger on a story of interest. His casual scan of the pages was abruptly interrupted by a photograph on page four. It was a striking image that seemed to jump out at him, capturing his full attention and sending an odd shiver down his spine. The photograph showed two people: a beautiful young woman with dark curls and piercing eyes looking like an angel fallen from heaven, only that she really was an angel, and next to her was a man, who in his sight was nothing like a human, very handsome to be one. Xavier squinted his eyes at the lady, he couldn't have mistaken her, it was Stella, her niece, or so she thought. A wave of unease washed over Xavier. His hands trembled slightly as he held the paper closer, studying the image. His mind raced. As he stared, Xavier felt something stirring deep within him, an ine
Stella squinted her eyes. The harsh, sterile light overhead pierced her vision, making her wince. She groaned softly, feeling a sharp, dull ache pulsing across her face and around her torso. Every movement seemed like a hassle to her. Her mind was foggy, as though wrapped in gauze, but fragments started to come back to her.The gala. The highway. Lucian. Her breath caught, and her fingers reflexively gripped the sheets, clinging to them. Images flashed through her mind, the hum of the road beneath them, Lucian calling her name, his hand reaching for her, the explosion, and then darkness.“Stella?”She turned her head slowly, her gaze settling on Morgan. Her brother’s ocean blue eyes were wide with concern, his face pale, etched with worry. He looked like he hadn’t slept for days, dark circles shadowing his normally sharp features. His hand rested on hers, his fingers trembling slightly.“You are awake,” he said, his voice thick with relief. He tried to smile, but the worry in his eyes
Lucifer’s message cut through the dark like a knife, his words heavy with an authority that left no room for misinterpretation. He called upon his most trusted minions, and his voice echoed across the realms, which signified the gravity of his command. “Listen very well,” his voice resonated, each syllable imbued with fire. “The girl has lingered at my son’s side for too long. She is a threat to my purpose.” His tone darkened, sending a chill through his followers. “I want her gone, removed from his path by any means necessary.” Lucifer’s words were like a binding decree, impossible to ignore. His minions understood the urgency. "Charge!" They scattered immediately, each driven by the resolve to fulfill their master’s will. They knew that failure was not an option. ~~~~~~~~~~ Lucian adjusted his cufflinks as they stepped out of the sleek black car, casting a sidelong glance at Stella. Tonight, she looked nothing short of extraordinary. Draped in an elegant midnight blue gown
