Chapter 5 Shocked

Author: Five Generals
Lee?

Pietro looked at Kaze, baffled. “There is a man named Kaze Lee, and I’m trying to teach him a lesson.”

A loud thud could be heard from the other end of the line.

Pietro asked, “Boss, are you alright?”

Then, a thunderous roar from the man was blasted into Pietro’s ear through the phone.

“Alright? I’m not f*cking alright! Are you trying to f*ck with me now?! I’m warning you, whatever that man tells you to do, you f*cking do it, understand? He is a God from now on!”

Pietro was stunned. He had never seen Giovani this scared for as long as he worked for him.

He instinctively asked, “Boss, are you mistaken? He’s just some trash who married into the Quint family.”

“Pietro, are you trying to get yourself killed? You and I are like flies to him. One swat and we are all dead, crushed! You understand me?!”

“Boss, I…” Pietro got nervous.

“Last warning. That man is someone that not even I can mess with, you better take care of your own a*s!”

The call ended abruptly.

Pietro was stunned. When he regained his composure, he realized he was drenched in his own sweat and his legs were shaking.

Deborah noticed Pietro’s lack of response. She went up to him and asked, “Pietro, are you okay? Teach the two of them a lesson!”

“Teach? I’ll teach your a*s!”

Pietro shouted and swung a slap at Deborah’s face.

Slap!

The sudden turn of events shocked everyone.

The strong slap sent Deborah faltering, and her delicate cheek swelled immediately.

She covered her cheek in disbelief. Her eyes teared up as she cried, “Pietro, I’m here to buy a car, why did you hit me? Hit them!”

“I’m hitting you because you are a bitch! If not for Vincent Hanser, I would have slapped you to death. Get the hell out of my face!”

Deborah was speechless but she dared not argue with the man. She glared at Darcy and Kaze before she stormed out of the office.

When she walked past Kaze, she warned him, “You f*cking retard, just you wait!”

She blamed Kaze for her getting slapped.

Darcy instinctively tugged Kaze’s sleeve, asking softly, “Kaze, let’s go…”

Before Kaze could say a word, Pietro strode over to him.

Darcy was more scared than ever.

To her surprise, Pietro gave a ninety-degree bow and said with a trembling voice, “Mr. Lee, Ms. Quint, I am so sorry for my manners. Please do not mind what I said…”

What happened?

Darcy was shocked.

Pietro was like a different person after he answered the call.

“So are you going to pay us back?”

Kaze was not surprised by Pietro’s sudden change in attitude. Draco must have settled the matter.

Pietro nodded repeatedly, “Yes, yes! Yes, of course. I’ll make it happen right away!”

A while later, Darcy and Kaze left Loco Town with a bank check in hand.

Darcy still could not comprehend what just happened. She looked at Kaze from time to time, wondering if he did something to the man.

At the same time in a mansion somewhere in the city, the infamous Giovani Beneli was on his knees before a tall man in a formal suit.

Draco said coldly, “Giovani, nicely done. It seems like you’re not stupid at all. If something happens to my boss, you will be locked up behind bars forever.”

“Thank you for the mercy, Chief Commander.”

Giovani breathed a sigh of relief after escaping the sentence. He bowed and begged, “I have no idea that the God of War himself is in Lilyrose and he got into a conflict with my men. I wonder if I can set up a feast for the God of War to make up for my men’s mistake.”

“I’ll deliver the message.”

“Thank you, Chief Commander!”

Lily Court was an old district in Lilyrose City and where Darcy and his parents’ shabby house was located.

The sky was dark upon Darcy and Kaze’s return.

When they arrived at the entrance, Agnes and Hector darted out immediately.

“Darcy, are you alright? Did that gangster hurt you?”

“Mom, I’m fine. Thanks to Kaze, we actually recovered the debt.”

Darcy then looked at Kaze.

“What? What did he do? You really believed this retard can perform miracles?”

Agnes glanced at Kaze contemptuously and explained, “It was us who asked Henry to help us, or else you would never be able to get the money back.”

It was Henry?

Darcy was slightly surprised upon hearing her mother.

Kaze subtly narrowed his eyes. It was not the first time he heard the name Henry.

“Darcy, you have to thank Henry for his help. I gave it a try and called him, and he agreed to help as soon as he learned what happened. He even wanted to bring us out for dinner. You can’t reject him anymore.”

Darcy wanted to reject the offer. “Mom, can I pass? Kaze just recovered, shouldn’t we celebrate it?”

Agnes rolled her eyes. “What is there to celebrate about this retard’s recovery? Henry helped us overcome this crisis, you have to come with us to thank him!”

Hector nodded in agreement. He adhered, “Your mother is right. You have to come with us tonight.”

Darcy looked at Kaze with a troubled expression. She said, “If we are going to dinner, what about Kaze?”

“Stop thinking about him!”

Agnes grabbed Darcy’s hand and pushed her up the stairs. “Go change into something nice and remember to dress up properly.”

Darcy kept turning around but her mother continued to push her upstairs.

Kaze frowned.

“Kaze, what’s with that look on your face? Get the hell out of our house. You are not welcomed here,” Hector bellowed with displeasure.

It was then a Land Rover stopped in front of the house.

A slender and beautiful woman came out of the car.

She was Miru Scarlet, Darcy’s longtime friend.

“Hector, Agnes, where’s Darcy? Henry told me to pick you guys up.”

Suddenly, Miru noticed Kaze and it shocked her. “Kaze? What are you doing out of the hospital?”

Agnes grabbed her hand and explained what happened.

Struck with realization, Miru looked at Kaze with disgust.

Three years ago, Kaze disappeared on his wedding night and made Darcy the laughingstock of the city.

He came back as a retard and gave the Quint family nothing but trouble.

Miru had no respect for her friend’s retarded husband.

“Kaze, now that you’ve recovered, why are you still here? If you are a man, stay away from her, and don’t stop her from chasing her own happiness.

“Henry is the next in line to inherit his family’s business. His father, Roger Hilfinger, is the Chairman of the Construction and Material Society. He has total control over the construction business in the city. Henry can provide Darcy with a good life.

“Look at you, other than insults and suffering, what can you give Darcy?”

Agnes and Hector nodded in agreement.

Kaze calmly said, “Miru, what I can give Darcy is not something a peasant like you could ever imagine.”

It would be Kaze’s negligence as the manager to omit the president from the dinner party. Fortunately, Kaze came by to extend a personal invitation just before the work hours were over. That saved Luca the trouble. Kaze knocked on the door and waited for a response before entering the president’s office. “Ms. Quint, it’s the end of the day. Are you done with your work? It’s my treat for dinner today. Do you want to come along?” Kaze sauntered into the room and got to the point. It was pointless to exchange pleasantries. Instead of wasting each other’s time, he came right out. Darcy was surprised. Here she thought that Kaze had overlooked her. As it turned out, he kept her in his thoughts. “I can’t make time as I have a lot of things to go through.” Earlier, Darcy had been too upset to pay attention to her duties. Now that Kaze extended the invitation, Darcy was in a better mood. “I’ll text you the address of the venue. You can head over once you’re done,” Kaze said,

Amid work, the staff were filled with emotions. Though the workload was on the heavy side, the detailed workflow eased the staff into completing the job. “Maddie, Mr. Lee is amazing. Our work is planned out thoroughly, so it’s especially easy for us to execute.”“With these processes, I reckon we should finish on time.” “I know, right? These tasks feel easy, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s different when we used to be so busy, but we couldn’t get a whole lot done.” “Despite the volume of work, everything is well organized. We even have time to take a break.” The staff had a lot of nice things to say. “That’s Mr. Lee for you. I see why he got a pay rise soon after joining the company. It just proves that skilled people shine wherever they are,” Maddie uttered. The other staff members nodded in agreement. They were blessed with a good leader. “It’s time to get cracking. We need to invite the other managers for dinner later,” Maddie said. “I’m heading there to get a s

The information did not sit well with most employees. Kaze had not been with the company for long. Yet, he was given a pay increase. Sure, Eliot made a mistake. He had been punished for what he had done. Yet, Kaze was getting more money anyway. The employees did not find it fair. They had been dedicated to the company, handling their responsibilities to the best of their abilities. However, their efforts were not equal to their wages. On the other hand, Kaze was blessed with privileges despite being new. It was an enviable position to be in. They walked into the restaurant, and a server led them to a private lounge. Given the number of people, having lunch in a private room made more sense. Kaze picked a random spot to sit, but he was quickly pushed to sit at the head of the table. “You’re the guest of honor today. You should take the main seat,” Maddie said ingratiatingly. Though Kaze felt bad, he sat where he was told. “Feel free to order anything. I’m buying.

Today was one of those rare opportunities to get to know Kaze. Kaze was going to be the immediate superior. Of course, the employees wanted to be on good terms with him. The point to note was that Eliot was demoted to a team leader for being hostile to Kaze. Yet, Kaze was able to firmly secure his place in the company. The fact itself spoke volumes of his tactics. Not wanting to get on Kaze’s bad side, the employees would do everything to suck up to him. “It’s been ages. Does the manager know that it’s lunchtime now?” “I know, right? At this rate, the restaurant will run out of good food.” “Should some of us head out to order ahead while the rest of us follow in a bit?” An individual suggested. Essentially, they did not have the guts to knock on Kaze’s door and ask him out for lunch. Maddie stepped forward. “Two of you can head on and order something light for Mr. Lee. We can add on to the order once we get an idea of Mr. Lee’s preference.” Maddie assigned two p

“I’ve been made aware of the incident with Eliot. I didn’t expect him to go after you,” Beatrice uttered. Beatrice would love to pick Kaze’s brain on the matter. If Kaze harbored resentment, Beatrice would need to move things around to accommodate him. “That’s behind us. I don’t see why it should be brought up again,” Kaze remarked. It was pretty clear that Kaze was over the incident. There was no need to pursue it. Plus, he was not one to hold grudges. “That’s the way forward. We were worried that you might take it to heart,” Beatrice murmured and looked at Kaze with apprehension. So long as Kaze was not bothered by the incident, it should be a cinch to sort out everything else. Beatrice would be in a difficult position to explain to the president if Kaze were to walk out of the company because of his beef with Eliot. Having grasped where Kaze stood, Beatrice could proceed with arrangements. “I won’t mind. Besides, this matter is closed. I won’t pursue it anymore.”

“We are all here to work. What’s with all the thrill?” Kaze asked. “Can I ask a question, Mr. Lee? What’s your relationship with the president?” Jenny heard some rumors through the grapevine.“You should know better than to gossip when you work the front desk. Some subjects are off-limits,” Kaze uttered while looking Jenny in the eye. Kaze would usually turn a blind eye to Jenny’s little chit-chat because her information turned out to be pretty beneficial. However, Jenny stood to lose her job at this rate. It was a friendly reminder on Kaze’s part. Jenny looked at Kaze in confusion, baffled as to why he would say such a thing. “Mr. Lee, I’ve been nothing but help to you. Where is this coming from? “I was just curious. I have never leaked internal information.” Jenny showed where she stood. “I know you well enough, but you need to tread carefully.” While talking, Kaze walked into the office building. The moment he stepped foot into the building, the employees spot
