JUPITER POV

SITTING ON THE BED IN my unshared dorm, I glanced at the clock mounted to the wall just right across the room and it signaled it was a little after 9 in the morning! I took a minute to admire the cream walls which were painted like a clean, neat canvas, displaying the secrets and the tales of this world, from my forefathers and ancestors before them.

The stone sculptures around the room and the drawings etched on the walls created a classic illusion of being succumbed into a different world, a paranormal universe where nothing but peace and stability reigned. The red dotted paint marring the cream white wall representing blood, the angry werewolves in their natural glory, and terrifying dragons stood proud on the wall, making one just want to dwell in this serene surrounding.

The only sad part was that; it was all in the past! It had been years since the secret divisions were formed and since the other one came to power. It has been centuries since we went into hiding from the fear of being hunted down and massacred just for existing. The world we lived in today was as cruel as a winter night and did not spare anyone. Only the high rankings were spared, to maintain the “balance”.

I shook my head clearing the disturbing thoughts that suddenly came to mind. Thinking about how poorly we lived angered me daily. But what made my blood boil, even more, was the fact that we couldn’t do anything, couldn’t take action to fight for ourselves without the Grisha!

Years have gone on and we have been waiting! At some point, I even thought that the whole thing was just a bullshit tale trying to get us down, but then my father, the greatest alpha of all the times had told me to trust in the prophecy and heed the warnings of the Vagarmours. I believed him because I had wanted to be like him the other day! To be the powerful leader and be the king of lycans.

The night he had sat me down and told me of stories that had happened to him and those who ignored the warnings of the Vargamour, it had been the best night of my life. I was a stubborn teenager and bent the knee to none but myself. He had sat me down, talked me out of my stubbornness. That night I had stayed awake, thinking of all the things he had told me. And then in the morning, I had watched as the Anuka slit his throat open and just stood there, helpless because they had bounded us with spells. My father couldn’t shift to fight for himself and the rest of his pack!

The guys that killed him left me with his dead body, and just when I thought I saw it all, I went outside to find literally everyone, butchered and lying out cold on the ground. Only I was left, while others flee and went into hiding. Days turned into months and I eventually got to know that the whole world has been massacred. If you were supernatural and were found lurking around, then you were killed. Only the royal descendants were left! The reason for the massacre was unknown, but ever since that time, our life changed drastically!

A soft ping on my phone pulled me out of my daylight nightmare. I sighed and stood up from the recliner and walked towards the side table where my phone was charging. The message was sent to a small private group on W******p. It was said that we would meet in half an hour at our “usual place”!

I placed the phone down and jumped into the shower and 20 minutes later, I was straddled on my red and black Dhoom 3 BMW beast, roaring life out of it as it swerved and looped through the heavy traffic of the morning! It was the classic newest model of BMW bikes and envious whispers followed me whenever I mounted it. I loved it so much because it just screamed at me!

Today was the busiest day ever since it was the day the freshers were coming to the big school! I have been here for a long time now and I should be used to all of the disruptions! But heck! There was no getting used to this shit!

I parked my bike in the small valley which was sandwiched between tall buildings and walked a few feet deeper, then turned to the left and stopped at the small metal which didn’t look more than a door of a toilet cubicle! The bulky human guard saw me and got up, greeted each other, and opened the door.

I got inside the huge hall which was actually of a clubhouse. The interior was red velvet with black accents and it was empty since it was still in the morning! This was the secret place where I and the other guys hung up, far away from the watchful eyes of Anuka!

“Hey, Jupiter? How is it, man?” Akim, the owner of the club called out from behind the counter. He was Anuka and the most trusted man in society, but he was also our only stronghold and helped us so much. He was indebted to the Ducazee and swore to our forefathers that he would protect us at the cost of his own life. He was playing some kind of secret-agent shit and he was rather good at it! If by any chance the word got out, that he has been helping us, then…

“Hey, dude. It’s all good. Where are the others?” I asked referring to the rest of us,

“Down there. You just arrived after them.”

“Okay, man! I should get down too.” I pointed towards the passage that led to his office.

“Sure. I will bring the drinks in a few.” I nodded and turned to the small hallway that led to his office. I entered and walked straight towards his enormous bookshelf and pulled a green, leather-covered book. There was a soft click as the secret lock clicked open and the bookshelf parted into two, revealing a trail of stairs that led to the secret, hidden underground reliquary. As soon as I stepped inside, the bookshelf slid close and I made my way down the ancient stone stairs.

I got to the clearing to find the other guys already waiting! For the hidden reliquary, this place was rather very opulent and very impeccable. The walls were a deep shade of green with big stone pillars all over. The furniture was the Medieval kind, giving the sense of the good old times. Upon my arrival, the other guys gathered around our meeting table and we all sat down. The table was a marble countertop that showed the map of the secret divisions, stretching from Khriva, down to Varagrafena, and beyond the mountains that led to Norspatia!

“Okay, what’s the rush?” Crescent called out in his deep, gravel voice.

“You won’t believe it guys but I saw her. She is coming!” Eriva informed exuberantly with a huge smile, her deep yellow eyes brimming with excitement.

“And who is “her”?” Poseidon was the one who popped the question, with deep furrows of confusion marring his perfect, clean, shaved face.

“Grisha! She is coming and she will be among this year’s intake.” She laid the news to us causing us to look at her in disbelief.

“You mean Grisha is a she? As in, she is a girl and she is only 18?” this couldn’t be happening. There was no way she could have been telling the truth.

“Shocking right? But I saw her. And according to my vision, she should be arriving today!”

“Well, that's insane. Considering that everything we have read about Grisha talked about a very powerful person who will have power over both Ducazee and Anuka. And there was no way we could have all imagined that it was a girl.” Volkavik chimed in with his heavy voice and I could have sworn I saw steam coming out of his mouth. This guy was one of those that made me tremble even when I didn’t want to. I was a lycan prince, the strongest shape-shifter but Volkavik, a golden dragon was someone I didn’t want to mess up with! The legend has it that he has lived for over a million years. So yeah! I wasn’t playing anywhere near him!

“An eighteen-year-old for that matter,” I added up shaking my head.

“And this is where it gets crazy!” Eriva clapped her hands once more and we knew we had to brace ourselves for whatever came next!

“Yes?” We all sang a chorus as we waited for her to drop yet another bombshell on our laps,

“She is man-blood!”

GALINA POVSTANDING ON THE EDGE of a buzzing railway station, I looked down onto the scene unfolding in front of my eyes; millions and thousands of different people from all around the world, getting off their modes of transport. Some came to the City of Gold by buses, some by private cars, some by planes while some took trains like me. We may have been different in all ways; but we were the same in one thing; which was our age!Every year, millions of children who had received the admission letter from Varagrafena University would swarm up here. The entry requirements were specific and I was at luck when I applied. The university took only 18-year-olds and I was about to turn 18 in a few weeks. The admission letter was a key to the Entrance Exam, which determined whether you were good enough to enroll in the big school. Growing up, I never had the mea

Before dozing off, I sent a quick text to my mom telling her that I had arrived at the school and I was loving every minute of it. After conversing with her for a few minutes, I powered my phone off, pulled the blankets over my head, and within a split second, I was out!Two floor-length walls with giant pillars on the sides, the floor tiled with what looked like the ancient art of the Maldivian times. Once again, I was lost in one of my dreams. I glanced around to take in my surroundings when suddenly, the whole room darkened as if lights were put out. A gasp tore through me

Chapter 5GALINAAfter a very restless night, I woke up early since sleep decided to part ways with me temporarily! Last night after my long stroll, Katrina had laid to us that today was the big day! The day of the Entrance Exam! The idea of what that might potentially mean and the endless questions regarding my vision made it all impossible for me to sleep a wink. I tossed and turned all night trying to make out what might go down during the testing and how that may affect me. Or anyone! There were rumors. Like always! Very unsettling rumors about the renowned Testing! But I didn’t want to believe the negative words of others. Because that's just what they were! Rumors and nothing more. From all I know, it could be just a dang-ass difficult test with mind-wrecking questions that would make you doubt whether you have actually been to school or not. And I believed that it couldn't be worse than that. That's what the exam meant right? The day before, I s

GALINA POVTHE THOUGHT OF WHAT CAME in round two was rather nerve-racking! Especially after witnessing how Round 1 went down. The second door was pushed open and after we all piled in inside, it was shut close behind us.Unlike the first round, this room had a giant pond in the middle. Murmurs arose from a confusion of what the pond symbolized! Were we going to be drowned this time? Were we going to drink the water from the pond?“Dear students! Welcome to the second round of the Entrance Exam. And congratulations on making it through the first! On this round, you are going to walk through the pond, from one end; to the other. To those who will make it, see you in the next round. If you won’t; we’ll meet again next time. Best of lucks!” The voice boomed around the room from the intercom that was installed in the farthest corner of the room like a CCTV camera. But it was loud for everyone to hear it well. The students discussed amongs

GALINA POVTHE REST OF The rounds were just as diabolic. In the next room which we piled up in, we were shot with small rubber bullets containing a bit of silver, and man it hurt so much! It did sting and where it hit you, it felt like you have been stung by gazillion swarms of bees. Just like in the previous rounds, some fell from the bullets and were eliminated. We drank yet another stomach-churning bitter concoction of garlic and some bitter plant. They called it a ravine. And just like what happened previously, the liquid knocked many of us down. The last one was less painful. We entered the room and some black ash-like-looking powder was sprayed around us. When poured on the floor, it formed a nice clear line which we were told to cross. Easy right? Well, that's not how it went down! Some like me, managed to cross it; while some remained behind the black powder line. Just when we thought it was done, the powder began moving and closed them in, in a very small circ

And it was in this week where the lectures were going to commence and to be frank; I was really looking forward to it all! I didn’t know what was in store for us since this place was very mysterious, but I was ready to explore.Monday came and we all piled up into the classroom. Like previously, Egor who had become my closest friend pulled me to the backbench where we sat and ate a few snacks that were kept under the desk. We chatted softly and the teacher walked in. She was a lady who was approximately in her middle 30s, a neat pencil skirt, and ankle-spraining stilettos. A white dress shirt and black straight hair flowing at her back; She was very formal and pulled along with her a very domineering geste. As soon as she placed her paraphernalia on the desk; the whole classroom became as still as death!“Good morning everyone! I would like t

Chapter 9UNKNOWN POVSITTING IN MY BIG leather chair in my office, I looked at the files of the neophytes. The exam this year had affected our numbers and we had a very small portion at our side. it was such a pain in the ass when the test gave out a bigger number to the other faction.Although it sounded funny and rather unbelievable, the two divisions brought balance to life. There was more than what humans thought. Supernaturals have lived among humans ever since the beginning of the universe, but they still didn't know it. This only showed the level of their stupidity and their negligence to life. I was human with blood and bones yes, but heck! I have never seen such stupid creatures in the world. It used to pain me that I was human before, but now, not so much!Creatures lurked in the dark every hour of the day. The divisions were created for stability, and it has remained that way for over 500 years. And we the Anuka saw to the balance of the world. As the str

Nothing about this place seemed to make any sense, and the excitement that once consumed me whole had now turned into deep frustration and confusion. No one has ever mentioned to me that when we arrived in the big school, we would be trained to be witches. Absolutely no one. And my mom, did she have any idea of what was happening here? Did anybody have any idea of what was going down within the stone walls of VU? Or their shady shenanigans were off hidden and concealed from the world. And the fact that they all claimed that it was in the interest of everyone, really didn’t add up. Yes, it may sound cool to be able to talk to the dead, use forces to manipulate nature, create illusions. It had felt good in my first magic class when I floated a feather from the table and watched it dance in

In all my life, I have never felt so unnerved, so shaken and I didn’t who or what I was anymore. The VC had made it clear that I was something worth paying attention to, and that she and Bella had their scouts watching my every step. Jupitor who magically transformed into a giant dog said just the same thing but went in by saying that I, a normal human being who has been leading a pretty much mundane, low boring life, was somehow a divine, superior being that was going to bring redemption to the world. Like, WHAT THE HECK?I just… I couldn’t handle it!I had been ready to uncover all the hidden lies about this place but this, I couldn’t take it all in. And the fact that it seemed like everything was revolving around me just made everything worst. GALINA POVARRIVING IN MY dorm later in the evening, I felt refreshed, more alive than what I left this room feeling like just a few hours back.I was frankly glad for the little get-away with Egor and I wanted to kiss him for that. I pushed the door open to find my two roommates each sitting on her bed, as soon as I emerged; they jumped up and flooded around me.“Whoa, guys. What the hell?” I asked putting my hands in the air looking at their excited faces,“When were you going to tell us that you hooked up with the Campus Prince?” Katrina called out yanking my hand and walking to my bed, and that's when I realized it was completely naked.I pointed my finger at it, bedazzled at the look and they squealed behind me.“Who did this?” I turned around to find them clapping their hands frenziedly, Klara literally jumping up and down from delight,“Who else except for Campus Prince?"“How do you

JUPITOR POVMy lycan, Darlion, snarled at the front of my head as he added more healing power into my body. In this place, I was at my safest! The stunt they pulled at the sports fest knocked me out cold. Had it not been for Kirigan, who popped out of thin air, Darlion would have been yesterday’s history.“Guys, they found her.” A sudden loud, shriek called out and I groaned from the stone bed I was currently recuperating on. Not that I needed any more recuperation because I felt okay by now! The energy from this little heaven healed me to greater extents.“What?” Sudden deep voices called out as the other guys emerged from their corners and gathered around the stone deck in the middle of the room.“Who?” I asked jumping from the bed but Eriva turned and rushed to me.“You should sit back and rest.” She guided me to the bed but I took her hand and walked to the small circle with her.“I am fine, sweet cheeks. I can live.” I teased her and she walked to the

I mean all of these just didn’t add up. I always loved vampires because their pale skins were just too hot to handle, and the werewolves and their possessiveness. But the thought of them being real, in this world, that wasn't what I vouched for!“Werefoxes, dragons, mermaids and merfolk, witches and warlocks, all of the legends.” She stated clamping her hands on her front.“But how?” I inquired after a good minute of an insane mind-reeling.“Well, let’s just say they don&rsq

GALINA POVTHE NEXT FEW days blew by in a blur of exhaustion and confusion. Like always, the occurrence of the sports fest was never talked off. Just like everything that had gone with the wind, nobody talked of those who had seizure episodes during the fest, and what the siren had been of. Because I tell you, that siren was no ordinary. And no one literally cared about the collateral damage it caused and those who got hurt.It was as if nothing happened, and everything was all merry, up and about! On a serious note, I didn’t know whether I should be awed by the level of “mind your own damn business” these people had or freak out because people disappeared day in and day out and nobody seemed to give a shit or two about it. And that was totally disquieting.I also stopped being the talk of the town, my days slowly sunk back into the routined pattern where I got up with a start, went to school, then to the library, and just buried my

GALINA POVTHE WALK back to the dormitories was filled with nothing but a blur. I didn’t feel myself or anything about me. I was just a zombie that was putting a foot in front of the other and moving forward with no clear sense of direction. When I walked by, I heard small murmurs and saw people throwing dirty glances my way and was totally unfazed by them!I tried to think of why and how that was the case but failed miserably. All I have ever wanted was to be a laid-back student, who is focused on getting her degree and nothing else. I didn’t plan to be caught up in whatever crap Belladonna and her squad did behind the curtains. I didn’t want to be part of it in all ways. But here I was, feeling chills running down my spine at the sense of being watched. I never really thought they’d send someone to watch over me, but they did.I felt heavy like my heart was sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss. The sound of running footsteps ra

The black bag sunk on my head and heavily slump over my shoulders, pushing me down. I couldn’t scream, or say anything. I just let them carry me in their big arms and walked with me for however long they did.My ears tried to pick up all the sounds, my nose flared to carry out any lingering scent, but the bag totally engulfed me whole, and it was so heady on all of my senses! My heart was thrumming painfully in my chest, my whole body aching from being deprived of sensation. I was so lightheaded and it felt like I was going to pass out anytime soon if that went on. After millennia of walking, I was pushed down into a seat before the black hood around my head was abruptly yanked from me.I blinked a few times trying to adjust to the light in…We were inside a room, and in h

JUPITER POVKeeping tabs on Grisha was as fun as it got. I still couldn’t believe that the little naïve girl with big-ass framed reading glasses was the golden phoenix who was going to bring us salvation and save the world from the hands of Anuka. It was still a very foreign concept even though I wanted to make deal with it. From the scrolls, Grisha would be strong, domineering, unstoppable. And the little girl who was not only 18 but also man-blood was really far from what was written in the scrolls! Well, except for her insanely dominating aura even though she was just meek, and pretty much killable! And now, trailing her and watching what she did every day was what I lived for. Although I was very much against it at first, because I actually didn’t understand why they wanted me to the job, I mean anyone can do it. So it just didn’t make sense for them to point me out and tell me that I should do it. But now I didn’t regret any of that. Gri

Chapter 11GALINA POVTHE FOLLOWING DAY, we had classes in the morning since the fest began at noon. Only those who were going to participate in the fest were off the hook. Egor was a participant also which meant I had to spend the rest of the classes alone. I didn’t mind though, at all. It was just the fact that I had gotten too used to having him around that it felt kind of strange to be by myself in the class. We had a historical ethics class and things were rather fascinating this time. Everyone knew my passion for history and how much I loved it. There was just something that burned inside of me whenever I listened or read a history book. Having to know the events of the past all perfected and detailed, with words played like a mosaic to give you a clear vivid picture of what had transpired; that was the definition of life. Bliss! The history teacher himself was one of my favorites because of how well and expertly he delivered his course. He made you
