Part One Hundred and Seven

“What was the plan, Mia?” Malachi’s voice was calm now and that scared her more than his anger had. “You come back to town under the guise of my wife’s death? What then, Mia? What was the next step?”

“Franklin wanted me to get involved with you. He wanted you to be compliant when he showed up with Alexander.”

Malachi nodded his head. “I see. So you comfort me for a while, get me to sleep with you and then what? I fall in love with you? Is that what you’ve been blocking from me all this time?”
