Sandra tilted her head as she stared at the closed door in confusion. "Seriously?" she mumbled disbelievingly.

She was expecting it to happen, but it still hurts her ego that it actually happened. Sighing, she shook her head. Her eyes then lingered on the door for a few more seconds before turning her heels around to leave. But she abruptly halted when she saw who was standing just a few steps away and watching her.

"That was quiet a show," Carmina chuckled. Amusement was very evident in her face as if she'd just witnessed a crime scene that she could use against her beloved enemy.

Sandra rolled her eyes, hiding the embarrassment she suddenly felt thinking someone had to see it. And of all people, she couldn't believe as to why it has to be the one she loves to hate.

Just great.

She grunted inwardly. Her eyebrows arched as she looked straight into Carmina's eyes who was staring intently at her, studying her reaction while one of the eyebrows arched up to the ceiling. She then flipped her hair then rolled her eyes. There will be no way she'll ever give that woman the satisfaction to see how affected she was by being caught in the middle. That was her very first rejection, and of course, it does hurt, but she wouldn't show it especially to someone whom she couldn't trust.

"What is the Crown Entertainment's future CEO doing here anyway?" Carmina asked as she tilted her head.

"None of your business," Sandra retaliated with her infamous smile.

Carmina's brows furrowed then looked at Phoenix's studio and something clicked to her. A worried looked flickered in her eyes, but she was able to hide it immediately, afraid that Sandra might noticed it. Shaking her head, she smirked instead, making the latter raised her eyebrows once again.

"Who would have thought we're going to see each other again at the most unexpected place?" Carmina chuckled.

"You came back earlier as I expected, Carmina. Welcome back," Sandra grinned, then walked away, completely ignoring her trying to make a conversation.

"I thought you've forgotten!" Bammie exclaimed when she arrived at her shooting location for her new music video.

Sandra beamed at her best friend, then told Mr. Hwang, her driver, to leave their foods on the table.

"I was panicking here thinking you're ditching me! Why didn't you call me?" Bammie queried, arms crossed over her chest whilst glaring at her.

"I was in a meeting,” she chirped, “Don't be paranoid, Bammie, you know that despite of my hectic schedules, I will never miss your music video and commercial shoots," she stated as sat on Bammie's chair in front of a huge vanity mirror.

“Right,” her best friend quickly chortled as if she didn't believe her. She peeped outside her dressing room and smirked at Sandra after checking over something. “You didn't bring someone. Did he somehow.. reject you?” she chuckled.

Sandra rolled her eyes and didn't respond. However, her sudden silence didn't escape from Bammie's sharp intuition, which caused the latter to stop chuckling and arched her eyebrow.

“Does your silence means.. yes?” she asked slowly.

Sandra cringed and rolled her eyes once again. She could see her best friend gasping as her eyes widening in disbelief at the fact that someone just had rejected her invitation. And she completely understood her, for no one have ever refused her be it for business or personal. Unbelievable, indeed.

“Oh my gosh! He actually did?!” Bammie exclaimed. Her eyes danced in amusement and mischief as if she's more than glad to know that her best friend have finally found her match, than feel worried about her feelings.

‘This woman,’ Sandra thought upon seeing her reaction through the reflection in the mirror.

It was her first ever rejection yet Bammie seems ecstatic about it. Clicking her tongue, she scoffed, "You're supposed to be mad, but you're showing me otherwise”

Her bestfriend chuckled in response, “I'm just thrilled," she chirped. “No one could ever resist your charm, Sandra, and you always have your way to make everything possible. That's why it feels refreshing to know that someone had the guts to refuse you.. That Sebastian Lee is something, huh”

“I know right,” she shook her head. “That guy didn't give me a chance to show my charms on him. He immediately closed that freaking door in front of my pretty face! Can you imagine that, Bam? That was so embarrassing, I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight!” she whined as she scrunched her nose then stared at her reflection in the mirror.

Sighing, she just put a light make up on her bared face and stood up to choose a dress to change.

After hearing her complaints, its Bammie's turn to whine over how impossible it was and called Sebastian blind and rude and a big jerk for doing such things to her best friend. It made Sandra felt better for she knew that her best friend might celebrate over her embarrassment, but she still cares and would be the first one to be mad and fight in the front row for her.

Grinning, she pulled out the dress she liked and walked in the fitting area. “By the way, I saw Carmina," she stated, stopping Bammie from calling names for Sebastian.

“When did she came back?”

“Of course, I don't know. I just saw her earlier after Sebastian closed the door,” she stated lightly, though, there's a bitter taste on her tongue upon remembering the scene that someone had to witness it.

Oh, she's never gonna forget that. And it will remain in her memory that Sebastian Lee was the first guy to ever refuse her.

“She's in Empire?” Bammie scowled, “Does that mean, she already signed a contract there? How about Crown?”

“We have nothing to do with her after she left without telling us. She breached the contract and she's lucky Papa didn't sue her”

“Because of you..” Bammie added.

She could feel her grinning meaningfully, but just ignored it and didn't say anything anymore.

Someone like Carmina wasn't worth talking about. She's the topic that should be ignore for she only meant bad news.

Days have passed, but Sandra doesn't feel like days were actually moving since the papers she needed to sign and review didn't seem to decrease even a bit. Plus, the stubborn investors who were always insisting of having urgent meetings frequently added the burden she's weighing on her shoulders, making her head throbbed.

"Jamaica, until when my schedules will be finally clear?" she queried whilst reading some emails.

Jamaica, her trusted, efficient and very reliable secretary with a void emotion that made her look like a robot more than a human, immediately grabbed the planner and scanned it carefully. “After five months, Miss Sandra”

"Five months?" she huffed.

She closed her eyes, then, pinched the bridge of her nose. She didn't know how will she be able to survive that freaking five months being stuck in her office or meeting rooms. Just thinking about it already exhaust her.

"Is there any day offs within the five months?"

"Yes. One per week," Jamaica quickly replied with a nod making Sandra let out a sigh of relief.

She's hardworking, yes. But a continuous work with only a day of rest was too much for her. She's not that workaholic just like her father, who was actually just forced to have a vacation trip with his wife, and probably having the time of their lives.

“Miss Sandra..” her secretary cut the silence, “Mr. Park wanted to meet you as soon as possible,” she stated while looking at her impassively.

"Empire?" she frowned as she tilted her head.

She haven't checked the status of their big project with them yet, since it wasn't in their top priority as of the moment. And she didn't want to pressure the producers to make a good song for she knew how hard it was to compose a quality one. But then, Phoenix was there. Her trust for his works was on the roof.

Tilting her head, she asked, “Did they already finished the song for Bammie and Levi?”

However, her amusement gone instantly when Jamaica shook her head, “He said that Sebastian Lee is backing out as one of the producer of the project”

“Why?” Mr. Park asked, incredulously. Sebastian raked his hair then shrugged, “I cannot handle two names. That will be weird seeing Sebastian Lee and Phoenix collaborated when they are both me,” he explained trying to pin point his main problem. Mr. Park laughed, looking very amused as ever that made him frowned deeper. He didn't like how his boss sees it as a funny reason. “I have not thought of that,” Mr. Park chortled. “I'm going to talk to Sandra about that then. But don't expect that your secret will be safe with me when she asked for your reason” He mentally cursed. That's what he's fucking afraid of. He didn't want anyone, especially that Sandra Mendez to know he's Phoenix, for a simple reason that he didn't trust her. She's very influential and her words were well trusted by general public, as though when she says 'It's not true', they will easily believe it even there's an evidences of it being true. He wanted to live peacefully without something to think about, except f

Her brows deeply furrowed while her whole attention was extremely focused on the screen. "It's lame," she commented after she finished watching the last clip. "Bammie shouldn't cry. The song was full of love with no heartache or whatsoever negative words in the lyrics. Why the heck was she crying in that video?" she scowled making the staffs startled for it was actually the first time they've seen her losing temper.Sandra Mendez was known as strict, but very composed person. She never gets irritated nor angry easily whenever her subordinates and staffs made a mistake whether it's a small or huge that may ruin their company. She's always as calm as she takes everything lightly. She's rational and never scolded anyone but rather encourage them to do well the next time instead. That's why the staffs couldn't hide their bewilderment

  • Gotta Be You   Chapter 8: Long Time No See

Sebastian settled himself comfortably on the chair near the glass wall of the cafeteria, as he sipped his favorite strawberry frappuccino while waiting for the sun to set. He could say that it was the only place in the Empire building that can quite relax him. It used to be his studio tho, but for some effing reason, that supposed haven of his suddenly became his stress extractor. He clicked his tongue as he thought about it. Then, his eyes landed on the people hurling outside the building, patiently waiting to have a glimpse of their favorite artist's presence. Shaking his head, he cringed. He really can't understand why those people were doing that. Was a freaking glimpse of the artists' presence worth the long and exhausting wait? They're not even sure if they will see those they've been waiting for. It's like waiting for the bird that once stayed on the attic of their house and left the other day without them knowing if it's going to come back or not anymore. He was busy watching

Sandra's phone rang and immediately excused herself after dropping the bomb to Sebastian, which made the latter felt quite relieved that he has time to calm himself and think of ways to avoid the topic. "Ride or die is yours?" Jamaica suddenly quiried that made Sebastian jumped a little from his seat. He was too engrossed of breathing in and out, he forgot that he was not alone in the table after Sandra left for awhile to take the call outside. Instantaneously, his face became tomato out of shame. He couldn't even take a look on her. Jamaica though, just watched him with her usual blank expression and quickly asked a follow up question. "You're Phoenix, right?" she protruded. It was too damn straight to the point, that it felt like a hammer hit him straight in the face without giving him any warning signals. No sugarcoating, no going around the bushes. It was their first interaction, but somehow, she didn't seem hesitant to ask for confirmation of who he was. Unlike Sandra, whom did

“Why are you so agitated about it? Sandra can keep a secret,” Levi chuckled after Sebastian told him what happened the last night.Sebastian, on the other hand, shook his head then ruffled his hair in frustration. He wasn't able to sleep well, thus, he was not in the mood to joke around with Levi. “Did you just come here this early for that, Levi?” he narrowed his eyes on his friend, “Or were you with them to set me up that night and used our CEO?” he asked, full of accusation in his voice. Levi laughed, “Silly. I don't use people,” he shook his head, “Sandra happened to mention having dinner with you last night, so, I woke up early and went here to know the details from you,” he grinned.“Why not ask her instead?” “I want it to hear from you” Sebastian shook his head in disbelief but didn't probe more. He just finished off his coffee and stayed silent for a moment. It's only six thirty in the morning. Usually, he goes to work at eight, but since he woke up at three a.m and wasn't

Sebastian wasn't surprised when he'd heard of the news about another dating rumor of Sandra Mendez. It only made him sick of hearing her name every freaking time, everywhere. And even his annoying brother could not be of any help, for his big mouth never shuts about her. "No! My sister! Why did you allow Dominic Chua back! No!" Simon whined, kneeling in front of the television as if the woman could see nor hear his plea."Stop it, idiot" Sebastian reprimanded.Simon though, didn't faze for he didn't actually heard Sebastian since he was too busy sulking and crying over the rumor. "Is it true though?" Yohan inquired Levi, who was unusually calm and just silently watched the news, not minding Simon almost harboring the television."Sandra Mendez is really a good catch. If I were one of her ex-boyfriend, I won't let her go and will tie a knot with right away" Damon stated while laughing making his eyes disappeared.Sebastian grimaced upon hearing his friend, "Since when you'd become li

Sebastian Lee," she said then extended her goddess-like hand on him, offering a handshake.Sebastian gladly accepted it and gave the singer pleasantries, which made Bammie felt really pleased as she looked at Sandra with a knowing grin. "You don't seem bad at all. No wonder Sandra likes you," she said, raising her eyebrows on her bestfriend.Sebastian's forehead creased, not knowing what to reply on that statement. He stared at the singer and saw her grinning at the woman sitting on the other side of the office. He purposely ignored her and acted as if he didn't see her there and just focused his attention on Bammie. Meanwhile, Sandra was just silently watched them converse. She's well aware that the guy was trying to ignore her presence inside the office. She's not offended though. In fact, she's amazed how consistent Sebastian was for avoiding her, even if he's inside her turf.

"Hi," Sandra greeted as they entered one of the VIP rooms of the famous and exclusive club in Apgujeung. "Sister!" Simon rushed towards Sandra like a child who've just seen her mother after leaving him in their house alone for a long time. "I'm so happy to see you here. Thank you for inviting us, especially me!" he exclaimed blissfully while holding her hands."No problem, Simon. I promised you that I'll introduce you to Bammie, right?" Sebastian swore he saw the blinding sparks in his brother's eyes after hearing Bammie's name. He wanted to dragged him out of the room immediately to spare some shame, but the latter obviously didn't have that in his body and hugged Sandra while squealing like a little girl. "Thank you, sissy! Where is she?" asked Simon while looked around. "Sandra seem to bore adoration to Simon. She's spoiling that brat," Yohan commented on his side. Sebastian shook his head. His eyes then caught Sandra, and the latter gave him her infamous sweet smile before st

He heard the loud beeping from the other line which meant that the call ended by the other party. However, his hand vibrated right after which caught his attention back and snapped him out from being astonished. Reluctantly, he checked the screen and saw Bammie's name flashed on it. He quickly answered it in case it was Sandra but only to be disappointed when it was her best friend instead. “Come here faster at the Crown building,” she said, sounding in haste. Sebastian was about to ask why, but the call quickly ended, leaving him puzzled and annoyed. He stared at his phone with brows connected together and thought whether to go there or not. News about the royal couple being married broke down and spread out so quickly, right after Jay Kim showed the marriage certificate on national television. Their fans celebrated like there was no tomorrow while some showed their dismay as they did like Phoenix more for their princess. Flashnews about them kept on coming here and there and nonstop articles were posted on the internet because the media were the first to celebrate the great news. Sandra sighed as she looked at Sebastian apologetically for she knew it was already exhausting for her husband to have never ending rumors about her. They were now in Sebastian's apartment, particularly in his room. Since Sandra was the hottest topic, they both decided to not go home to her mansion because they were certain that there's a lot of reporters waiting for her there for an exclusive interview. “Aren't you tired?” she queried as she wrapped her arms around her husband's waist. Sebastian shook his head and kissed his wife's forehead

“Are you married?” Thomas straightforwardly asked in a low baritone voice that gave everyone goosebumps except for Sandra. Meanwhile, Sandra folded her arms across her chest as she equalled her father's murderous stares. She looked calm and seemed unbothered and not scared with the presence of the intimidating old man, most probably because she was as intimidating as him as well. “Yes,” she answered without any hesitation. Then the corner of her lips slowly lifted upward as her eyes sparkled brightly, “But not with Jay Kim,” she immediately corrected before her father could ask if Jay's paper was not fake.Simon, Carmina and Levi gasped loudly upon hearing Sandra's answer. They all then turned to Sebastian suspiciously and saw the guy bowing his head looking guilty while fidgeting with his fingers. Sandra hea

They all thought that it was indeed a suicide to go against the old man, since the day didn't even pass and they were already facing another problem. “That bad?” Sandra queried as she frowned at her assistant. She then glanced at Sebastian and mindlessly walked to his direction upon seeing the guy looking pale and not with himself. As she sat beside him, she grabbed his hand and entwined it with hers without saying anything as her focus went back to Jamaica. From the side, Jamaica nodded in response which made everyone get curious about the news she brought in. “What's the bad news?” asked Bammie, a little impatient. Bammie and Levi's pictures immediately spread out in all social media sites, since it happened in public and everyone who was casually walking in the hallway that time grabbed their phones and captured the moment when the two decided to display their affection there. Minutes later, rumors about their relationship followed, as the reporters who were just in the auditorium nearby immediately got the report about the scene outside and took the opportunity for a juicy scoop. Which immediately stole the spotlight from what happened in the press conference. Meanwhile, Sandra quickly led them to her office upstairs when people started filing around them. And she also quickly called the security to usher the visitors from the auditorium outside because the press conference was already done to avoid them lurking around the building and coming to her office. “So.. care to explain?” she folded her hands while raising her eyebrows on Bammie. Levi looked behind his shoulder as he noticed that Sandra was missing. His thick brows then furrowed upon seeing the woman was left behind there, immobile and stayed still on her spot while looking somewhere else. Following her line of vision, Levi's jaw instantly clenched when he caught a stranger hiding behind the huge plant decoration, in a nearby distance on the right corner of the hallway, holding a camera that was directed towards them and obviously taking pictures. His gaze then went back to Sandra and immediately, his thick eyebrows pulled together as he wondered why the camera was on them when the woman they were after was on the other side. Levi was about to just shrug it off when he thought that the stranger might've just mistook one of the two girls with him as Sandra. However, it would be impossible because the woman was slimmer than the other two. The creases on his forehead deepened as his eyes wandered to his companion, searching for the possible target of that stran
