The lights in Myles’s room were all off. A sliver of moonlight shone through the window, onto the ground.

Sonnet did not turn on the lights. She walked over and sat down beside her father’s bed.

She knew that Myles was not asleep. How could he sleep in such a situation?

She sat there quietly for a while before trying to speak up. Before she could say anything, tears flowed down her face.

“Dad, it’s all my fault. I let you down. I made you upset. Don’t be angry anymore, alright?”

“No, Sonnie. I’m not angry at you,” Myles’ rough voice was soft. “I’m just angry at myself. Why? Why am I still greedy for life in the world when I’m already disabled? Why won’t I die? Why am I living as a burden for you..”
