Silence covered the entire ballroom and I could see Logan's expression change to disbelief, he must have wondered why I did what I did.
"No... I can't accept your rejection!" Logan stepped forward and tried to grab my shoulders again, but I stuck out my teeth and I warned him to stay away from me.
"alpha Daniel, please tell me what's going on?" He turned to my father.
My father's eyes returned to mine again after a disapproving glare at logan. "Grace, you can't cancel the wedding."
I stare at my father's lips in disbelief; does he know what he's saying? "Dad! He stuck his cock in Emma's pussy at my birthday party! You saw it! You wanted me to settle this quietly, and now you're going to backtrack?" My chest kept heaving with anger.
My mother left him because of his betrayal, and he's under the delusion that I'll put up with it! Never!
"Father, this time I will not listen to you, even if it costs me anything!" I said as I clenched my fists and looked directly at him without fear.
"Grace, let me explain ...... we," logan said anxiously but I wasn’t in the mood to hear any explanations.
“Oh please, keep your mouth shut, I don’t want to touch anything that has been inside Emma. She is a walking STD and you, my darling just ruined your own life, by getting in that trap. We are over. Everything is over.” I was about to leave but I was stopped by a thunderous roar.
“Where are you going young lady?”My father roared again, as if he would reach out his claws and rip my legs off if I dared to take another step.
“I don’t want to marry a cheater,” I announced.
“You should forgive him, it was a mistake, that he won’t be repeating,” Daniel said, but his tone was far from condensing. It was authoritative.
"No!" I sneered at him, I wouldn't expect anything more from him, I wasn't his daughter, I was just a tool for the defense of his rights.
“I can’t let you ruin my family’s reputation by rejecting Logan. And not when the wedding is tomorrow. Just forgive him and move on.” he ordered.
I looked into his eyes, my heart pounded, and I felt as though the world was closing in on me.
“So let Emma marry him. He was with her anyway.” I snapped.
“No, my family won’t accept her.” Logan intervened.
“And I won’t accept your infidelity.” I roared, but my roar was silenced by Daniel’s alpha bark.
“This is final everything is going to happen like it was meant to be. No changes and no nothing. Both of you will forget that today even happened.” He roared and waited for submission.
Logan showed his neck in submission because nothing bad was about to happen to him, but I waited because I wasn’t going to take this laying low.
"Guards! Take Grace to her room, she's not allowed to take a step until the wedding tomorrow!" Before I was ready to leave, the guards pulled me to my room and quickly locked it.
I won't give in. I was Grace Hawthorne, and shame on me if I go down without a fight.
I confirmed that it's quiet outside again and skimmed the whole room for money or any valuable items. I was leaving this pack, I would rather go rogue than marry a cheater.
In the middle of the night, when everyone fell asleep I left my home. But I stopped myself from shifting, that would be risky, considering the amount of security there was for the impending wedding.
I felt the cold wind blow my hair, and for the first time in the whole night, something felt right. The wind was blowing softly on my heated skin, it felt refreshing. By the shadows I swiftly left my pack ground and hoped not to catch anyone’s eye.
When I was sure nobody was watching me, I took a run toward the forest. The forest was shrouded in darkness as I ran, my breath coming in ragged gasps. I had left my pack behind and so did the betrayal, and heartache.
A soft smile grazed my lips, But just as I began to feel a glimmer of hope that I could escape the fate that was awaiting for me back at home, I suddenly stopped in my tracks. The moonlight spilled through the thick canopy of trees, revealing a clearing ahead. My heart raced as I realized that I, unknowingly had stumbled upon the territory of a rival pack.
Silver Moon Pack.
The arch nemesis of Blood Moon Pack.
Fear gnawed at me, but self perseverance compelled me to stay hidden. I was sure that if anyone from the rival pack noticed me, I would be dead and no one would know. Crouching behind a bush, I strained to hear the voices that drifted towards me.
"It's your twenty-fourth birthday, Alpha. We can't postpone this any longer," said a voice, a mixture of urgency and concern.
I could not see anything clearly, but there were two men talking.
Another voice, deeper and resonant, replied, "I know, Mason. I am not blind. I never thought it would come to this, but my time is running out."
My pulse quickened as I tried to make sense of their words. I held my breath, not daring to move and reveal my presence.
Mason spoke again, his voice lower now, almost a whisper. "We've searched far and wide for an antidote, Alpha, but we've found no one strong enough to bear the responsibility. The curse says find the mate before twenty five or you will die but you won’t be the only one. The moon will curse the whole pack, the whole Silver Moon Pack will suffer. Time is running out, and we can't delay this any longer. The prophecy is clear and so is the curse."
The Alpha's voice trembled with a mix of fear and irritation. "I know. I never wanted to put our pack at risk, but it seems there's no other choice. I must find a mate, and I must find one soon, or I'll lose everything. My life, my pack."
My heart pounded in my chest as the gravity of the situation washed over me. The Alpha, I realized, was bound by a curse that dictated he must find a mate by his twenty-fifth birthday, or he would perish. It was a fate that he seemed willing to avoid at any cost. But I wanted no part of that.
I had just made up my mind to leave the clearing when a twig snapped under my foot, breaking the eerie silence of the night. My heart froze as the sound echoed through the trees. Panic surged through my veins, and I quickly turned to leave, but it was too late.
A deep, commanding voice boomed from the shadows, "Who's there?"
My blood ran cold as I realized that I had been discovered. I turned slowly, my eyes locking onto the imposing figure emerging from the darkness—a tall, powerful man with piercing blue eyes, the unmistakable aura of an Alpha.I couldn’t stop myself from admiring him, and warmth spread across my body.Xander Vaughn, The Alpha of Silver Moon Pack. But, there was something in his eyes that made me scared. I noticed the little escape and made a run for it, scolding myself for making a rash decision. But I was no match for Xander’s power, as in another second I was on the ground, and Xander was on me.His scent *ssaulted my nose, and my wolf whined. I struggled to get out of his hold, but he was dead weight on me.“Little wolf, caught sneaking around,” he purred, and goosebumps ran down my body.“What were you doing little intruder?” he asked me while sniffing,“Nothing?” I answered, being completely aware that I was under his mercy.“It didn’t feel nothing to me? Were you snooping around?
The next morning, everything was just hazy in my eyes. Things happened as if in a fog, I dressed up in my beautiful silver gown, radiating the moon goddess’s beauty. Earlier I would have cherished the moment but not today.Today was different.Lizzie and Emma were waiting outside my room for me, they had a sweet smile on their face. But I knew from inside they were plotting against me. They were enjoying my misery.I entered the wedding hall, leaving both mother and daughter behind me. They were not able to match my long strides. In the big hall, all pack members, Logan’s family as well and the Wolf Council were present.I moved forward alone, matching hard stares from everyone else. Without waiting, the ceremony began and when the council asked if I would take Logan as my mate, I did what I had decided to do.“No, I, Grace Hawthorne reject Logan Harper,” I announced with steel in my voice. The hall fell into deep silence, I could hear the sound of sweat dripping from Logan’s forehead
What happened after my mating ceremony was something that I had expected. Daniel was furious and what made me even more happier was that he couldn’t do anything to me.I had the support of not only the werewolf council but also my mate, Xander, who everyone knew would not think twice before ending Daniel’s life.Daniel had only one choice and that was to see his power slip in front of his own eyes. I knew he was not going to back down, he was silent but that meant that he was brewing a new plan to uproot my life or to drag me where he wanted me.But I would die before I would go back under his thumb again. On the other hand, Logan was distraught, he was looking hopeless and embarr*ssed. His father didn’t even try to console him. My heart ached for him when I saw him but in another second it hardened thinking about what life he had planned for me.He deserved no sympathy from me, nor did he deserve any position.Maybe it was karma, he tried to take everything from me and now whatever h
The words uttered by the lady tilted my whole world. What she said made no sense, and maybe she was just happy.Maybe too happy.I smiled uncomfortably and looked at Xander, who was smirking at me.“I can’t wait, please don’t make this old lady wait. I want to see Xander’s kid running around the pack,” she said and looked at Xander playfully.Xander chuckled and moved toward me.“For that to happen, you all first have to leave her. I can’t have her if you all keep hogging her.” he teased and sn*ked his arm around my waist.“I want her for me,” he said and I could feel that there was an underlying threat in his words.I visibly gulped because now I was afraid.I was in enemy territory and this was not in our agreement. The pack members laughed at us, making me blush.“Stop teasing the girl and go have some rest.” the lady laughed at us, before moving out of our way. With his hand still on my waist he led me toward his house.“You can free me now,” I whispered to him, but I yelped as he
Xander chuckled, “Oh you will pay for that little mate,” he said in his dark domineering voice. But there was something else in his voice, a hint of tease.Like he was amused that I locked him outside. But as I heard his retreating footsteps, understanding dawned on me.What have I done?I can’t just lock Pack’s Alpha out of his own room. And that to be the one who was my mate.I moved to open the door, but I stopped myself.I couldn’t do that too, because that would be going against my own word.My self-esteem didn’t allow me to do that.I took a deep breath and waited.Maybe I would just wait and see what the consequences would be.I could do that.I looked at his king sized bed, the comfort it would provide my restless body.“Yes, I can do that,” I whispered to myself. But I couldn’t be any more wrong because the whole night I was tossing and turning on his comfortable bed.Even though the room was everything I wanted, still I couldn’t sleep.Because anticipation of his next move w
After the tour of the Pack, Xander took me back to our house. Our houseIt seems so foreign. But over the tour, I realized that Xander was not my enemy, he might not be my friend, but the enemy was a very heavy word.He helped me when nobody did, he saved me from hell and gave me another chance at life.It doesn’t matter he did that for his own benefit, but still, he helped me despite the hatred he held for my father and for my pack. When we entered the living room, I noticed that the house was empty. No servants were there.Smart people. They knew when to give us privacy and when to disturb us. I smiled.Considering all the good aspects of Xander, I decided to extend an olive branch to him.But before I could utter a single word, ignoring me he headed upstairs toward our room.I followed him, meanwhile, he started losing his shirt. When I entered the room with him, I eyed his bare torso. His well defined muscles were gleaming because of the sweat, making his scent more sweeter.Lana
I sat on the edge of my bed, clearly where Xander had placed me. My phone rang once again, making me wince.Making dread settle in my stomach, I couldn’t believe the audacity of this shameless woman. My heart sank thinking about the new possible ways she had thought to make my life hell.Emma flashed on my phone and instead of picking it up, I thought of thrashing the phone on my wall. But alas not all dreams could be true.I took a deep breath and answered.“What do you want?” I hissed, my voice held a tone of caution, contemplating her next move.“Oh, my, my. Is this the way you talk to your sister, my dear?” Emma purred onto the phone, her words dripping with honeyed insincerity.“No, but I do talk like that to wretched women. Shut your sh*t hole that you call a mouth and tell me what do you want?” I tightened my grip on my phone, I wasn’t slightly interested in hearing what Emma really wanted me to know. She chuckled into the phone, “Aww, in reality, I want a lot of things, but th
After getting dressed I waited patiently in the room, Xander and I were not allowed to see each other before the ceremony.I was feeling jittery, the high slit of my dress was making me uncomfortable, but I was excited too. I wanted Xander to see me in this dress, I wanted his appreciation. After what felt like a century, Aunt Mary came, she smiled at me and for a second I started missing my mother. This was supposed to be her right, but maybe in another life or in another world, I will have her by my side.A lone tear rolled down my eyes, but I wiped it down before Aunt could notice it, but she saw it nevertheless.“Don’t shed tears, my child, this is a happy occasion.” she patted on my shoulder. We both left the room and headed toward the gathering.“Only tears that should be in your eyes today should be of pleasure,” she whispered as we entered the hall.My eyes widened at her and she winked at me.As we both entered the hall, the room parted for me, in two perfect halves. There in
