Just as I had feared, Sara took the brunt of Mary's hatred for me.
I arrived just when Mary was pushing Sara out of the house. Her face was livid in anger amidst Sara’s pleading voice.
I could not stand the scene. I never approved of people wielding their power on those who can not defend themselves.
"Stop it! You had no right to abuse my employee!” I cried, stepping in.
When she heard my voice, Sara hid behind my back. I protectively covered her and faced my former mother-in-law, who by now, was frothing in the mouth in anger. Sharp gaze zeroed in on me.
